Beware of fakes flooding the market!.......2007-02-20
Caveat Emptor
In an unprecedented event with bluetooth headsets, Jabra has been besieged by JX-10 fakes flooding the market and being sold on many sites as the genuine article. These fakes are very convincing, almost defying detection, almost, but there are ways to tell the difference if you know how. The one thing ALL of the knock-offs [reportedly believed to originate from China] miss is the quality in operation and side-by-side comparisons in aesthetics. It is much easier to copy appearance than function.
If you purchase the unit above, whether fake or non-USA, you're entirely on your own. The one star is for *proceed with caution*.

Jabra JX10 vs Motorola HS850+.......2007-01-05
I used the Motorola HS850 since it first came out and have now been using the Jabra JX10 for the last couple weeks. Both are high quality pieces that reliably get the job done, but there are a few differences. Here are the comparisons I have experienced between the two pieces.
__Outgoing sound quality__
-Jabra and Motorola are about even.
__Incoming sound quality__
-Jabra has better incoming sound. I found myself having to push the Motorola into my ear to hear better. Since the Jabra's speaker sits inside your ear as does a earbud, I no longer have to do this. I can actually drive with two hands!
__Call Pick Up__
-I didn't notice a difference between the two.
__Battery__
-Jabra battery life seems to be a bit longer. I would assume however that newer versions of the Motorola have improved battery life since the technology has matured a bit.
__Pairing__
-Jabra pairs much quicker and hasn't asked me for the pairing code since I originally put it in. Motorola asks me for the code every time. This takes a single step out of pairing.
__Range__
-Motorola was by far more superior in a range test. The Jabra had a difficult time after being approx. 20 feet away from my phone with a wall between the earpiece and phone. The motorola only had problems after 35 feet with two walls between the phone and earpiece.
__Configuration__
-I do not like the configuration of the Jabra much at all. All buttons are hard to press and are located in funny places. I was much happier with the Motorola configuration.
__Size and Comfort__
-Jabra is far superior when it comes to both size and comfort. It is smaller, weighs less and sits much more securely on my ear. As I said earlier, I had to push the Motorola against me ear to hear better. Along those same lines, the Motorola felt flimsy on my head. If I moved my head too quickly in any direction, the piece went flying off. The Jabra sits perfectly in my ear with the earbud-like solution and because it is so comfortable and light, I sometimes forget I have it in my ear.

My experience leads me to the following opinions:

Very fragile gadget.......2006-11-13
The headset provides good sound quality, but unfortunately is very fragile... The removable plastic hook is tiny and doesn't keep up with time. First, I was forced to glue it to the headset and therefore can't swap it from ear to ear, now it has broken completely, so I either have to hold it with my hand or throw it away...

I was a bit skeptical buying this device at first because the reviews of similar models were not too complementary. I found that this pen scanner is VERY accurate. I use it to copy lines from photocopies and even books. You don't even have to put the book on a table as long as you scan in a relatively straight line. There is even a plastic guide to put on the tip of the pen to help beginners. It is very fast at processing each line and you get an immediate preview of what you just scanned. It is much smaller than you might think and is relatively light. It is like using an electronic highlighter. There are no wires to get in the way and it automatically shuts off. It is easy to transfer the data to your PC via the USB cable or to your PDA via the infrared. I am very satisfied with its performance and the price.
