Terrible Product.......2007-01-30

I had problems from day one with this player. It didn't work on one of my TV's...don't know why. As the other reviewer said, it has a subtitle glitch that while annoying is not that bad. Main problem is that it only lasted a few months(4). Then it stopped recognizing that a disk was loaded and was useless.

Technology reacts differently to different people and environments, or so it seems, so what I experienced may not be what someone else does. Just keep that in mind as you read the review.
In my experience, this DVD player started out well, except for a strange little subtitling problem. Subtitles appeared automatically, they did not have to be turned on. And to turn them off, you had to dig through all the subtitle options before you found English. Now, after they were turned off some random Spanish subs would appear when something like a headline was shown on the screen. This part was more amusing than annoying, however.
After about a week, the player refused to recognize any DVDs except two very specific Veggie Tales discs. Clearly, it had its preferences. Hah.
While this has tons of features I wanted, it didn't last long enough for me to enjoy them. Also, be warned: there is no power button on the remote control. You will have to manually turn the machine on and off.
On a side note, following return procedure was not the easiest. Here is a simple way around it: don't use what Amazon offers for contact instigation. I had to make a few emails and phone calls before I got where I needed to be. Write to the email address provided and simply ask for an RMA number.

It is the only way an Amazon return can be done with 3BTech. Again, I am not upset with 3B Tech, hence the 3 star rating. The shipping was fast and once I finally went in the right direction, the response was lightning-quick. However, do take note that THEY decide whether your machine is faulty or not. They will look over your unit and decide to either refund you or give you an exchange. Keep that in mind, too.

Overall pretty good.......2006-05-10

I actually have two of these cabinets to hold my dvd's and so far I am very pleased with the quality of the product. They really look good in my office. Each drawer holds 8 regular dvd's and they fit fine and are easy to get out. This item shipped to me very quickly and came fully assembled, so all i had to do was get it out of the box.

DRAWBACKS: the drawers sometimes stick and won't close easily. The cabinets lean slightly forward but not as bad as the cheap walmart bookcases. Larger DVD cases won't fit in the drawers. For example the Star Wars Trilogy collectors thing won't fit.

Unfortunately, not TWAIN-compatible.......2004-12-07

I make my living developing software for controlling scanners, and a very basic test shows that the FS-531 (as of December 6, 2004) has a pathetically broken TWAIN driver. I say "pathetically" because very basic software testing by Syscan would have revealed this bug before the FS-531 was released. If you only use this scanner from Photoshop or similar programs, it may well work - I can't say. If you attempt to use it with an automated scanning application, it will very likely crash (fatal error) - it will depend on the exact TWAIN features used by the application. This baffles me, since I would think that is exactly the type of application it would be *designed* to work with.
