Good cans for the money........2005-08-11
I have a set of Grado SR-80's in addition to these Koss TD-80's... the Grados retail for $100 (I paid $80) and have a DYNAMITE sound, just beautiful sounding, open air headphones. However, those do not stand up to backpack carrying too well! Eventually, one of the times I opened them up to solder them I got the left side too hot... these Koss TD-80 headphones were free, but even had I bought them they seem to be cheap, like $35? These TD-80's do not have as good separation and midrange as the Grados. The Grados sound much more airy and spacious and are a lot more comfortable (and they aren't known for their comfort!). If I had to choose one word to describe what I dislike about these cans it would be: muffled. However, for the price I think these are pretty good. These about match the AKG's at my station for sound quality.

Pros:
-Good sound quality. Good clear treble and good bass for headphones
-Volume control
-Sturdy construction
Cons:
-Uncomfortable on ears after 15-20 mins
-Seperate knobs for volume make it hard to keep the volumes equal in the two channels
-Earphones have very limited range of motion
-Sound bleeds out when earphones are covered
-Sound bleeds through when volume knobs are turned completely off
-Coiled cord doesn't stretch very far before it yanks your headphones off
Bottom Line:
I really don't think they're worth the $$$. Comfort is a high priority of mine and these rank pretty low. My old Aiwa headphones were way better.
The Beautiful TD-80s.......2004-05-15
I've been in love with the Koss TD-80s since the early to mid nineties as an adolescent entering the likes of Nirvana and Bush. At that time, I only had enough money to purchase the TD60s, which were a fine introduction to the Koss line that I grew to love.
Today, sadly, I can't commend Koss for their product changes--the introduction of the UR series, which I ridicule, "U-R stupid for buying them", and their incessant failure at making good earbuds beyond the delicate "Plug"...
However, I still hold true to their classic products, and this model is one of them. During those adolescent years, my only ability to listen to these headphones were by way of visiting downtown music stores whom displayed their latest releases at listening stations complemented by the Koss TD-80s. If there was something to be heard, the Koss TD-80s gave it. Whenever I wanted to buy a CD, if it were not on the TD-80s, I would think before buying it in fear of poor production, for if it were poor production, the '80s would let you know...
I recommend these headphones as a household reference for anyone moderately serious about their music. Yes, Sennheiser may be for the purist, and Sony may be for the everyday-er whom works out and advances in their professions or schoolings, but the classic Koss is simply for anyone who wants to hear and feel their music. In addition, given the age of this model, the bargains of today on this headphone is ridiculous and should make anyone in the market for closed headphones consider them.

60 Ohm Impedence - Lot of headroom reduces distortion.......2003-05-14
Closed-earpiece headphones no matter the brand are not comfy for extended wear! The reason for purchasing these headphones is the 60 Ohm impedance. The higher the impedance rating allows you to listen to your home stereo, boombox, mp3 player, etc. at higher volumes without any distortion so you get great clarity and definiton from the bass, mids and highs. Also, you can plug this set of headphones into a stage monitoring system or instrument amplifier with the same great results. The Koss line of headphones are an exceptional value. Notice the cost of other manufactures' headphones that are rated at 60 ohms and above and you will see what I mean. No! I do not work for Koss, just an informed shopper!

I was debating between these and some facier pairs on ebay and boy did I regret it. These are heavy, bulky, and not comfortable on my ears. They sound pretty good, the base is great, but not worth giving up comfort. My neck even hurts wearing these because the headphone are so heavy. Its like putting a textbook on top of your heard for a couple of hours. Its also such a relief when i take them off for my ears. My ears were red. They should make them out of more plastic rather than metal. Next time I will spend the extra [money] to get a better pair.

Nice Shelf System.......2007-03-22
I was a little worried about this shelf when I first ordered it, but it works great and installation wasn't all that hard, but a little time consuming. I have a Tivo, HD Satellite and Home Theater System on it, so you can imagine all the wires. The steel shaft houses all the wires (except the ones I couldn't foresee at installation). You'll want to make sure you have all the wires you'll need handy and un-plugged upon installation of shelve as you can not run them through the shaft once it is together. Also, the shelf was a little bigger than I thought it would be, it's 36" form the top bracket to the bottom, and you'll need to have a wall stud centrally located. I also had a problem with a power outlet, as the central stud on my wall has a outlet and I couldn't put the shelf as low as I would have wanted it. The shelf itself is extremely sturdy and looks great below my Aquos TV. I am happy with the final product. Oh, and make sure you have a handful of zip-ties to bind the wires with when they come out of the bottom and at the top, and to hide any extra wires.

This is nice system, not very difficult to install but perhaps slightly intimating for someone not very handy.
I installed mine through the drywall, into the concrete blocks using concrete anchor not provided. I love the fact that the shelves rotate on their axis. I am not using the hidding capability of the wires. Overall I think it a great system!

Review of Audio/Video 3 Shelf System.......2006-08-27
This was one of the biggest mistakes I've made concerning the installation of my plasma tv on the wall. I only intended to use two of the three shelves and then I only had a DVD player and a HD satellite receiver. The shelves were more than adaquate to hold what I wanted to put on them, but the channel in the back was useless for my two items. I used a HDMI cable for one component and a composite video (5 wires) for the DVD player. The power cords for each wouldn't fit into the channel and the pin wasn't able to be placed at the top.
I wasted the money I spent on it and finally just screwed two of the shelf supports that came with it to studs in the wall and purchased wiremold surface mounted plastic raceways to cover the wires. I'm happy with my solution and it looks Good. If the channer were large enough then this system would be good.
The channel is only big enough for a power cord and speaker wires and nothing else.
A BIG Disappointment. Of course once you get it mounted, you can't return it because it's used so you're stuck. Good Luck
