Look Also At The Maxent MX-50X5 For High Quality!.......2007-12-24
One unit that we found that is better than this one is the MX-50X5 also by Maxent.
When we compared the MX-50X5 to the Pioneer Kuro PPD-5080 We saw no difference in quality between the 2 what so ever!
In fact we were shocked to find out that the internal componants in the MX-50X5 are almost all the same as the Pioneer! We had ours tuned up by our techs and 'WOW' what a show stopper!!
So what more are you getting besides the name "Pioneer" on your unit? A much higher credit card bill!
Both sets have a 1 year warranty. The Pioneer had a much lighter frame and felt cheaply built. The onscreen setup on the MX-50X5 was also a big plus between the two.
Our friends who also own Pioneer's were somewhat embarrased at the price we paid and It was obvious they felt cheated....
But thats what you get when you just buy a name... Not whats behind it!!
Good Job Maxent! We paid under 1K for this outstanding high quality PC-Ready monitor!
Outstanding video replay, Graphics via ASUS SLI GPU's And ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe Motherboards...
Why did we give this Plasma the MX-50X5 a 5 STAR rating? It's the best bang for your hard earned buck on the market in 2007/2008 !!
A good value.......2007-10-10
We bought this item last weekend from Best Buy. In the store, they have it hooked up to a looping HD video, so the picture looks awesome. It was comparable to the picture of the Samsung 50" plasma they had next to it, but for about $600 less. If you decide to purchase this, it should be noted that the only way you will get the perfect picture (as shown in the store) is to have an HD signal. We currently have a standard satellite package, so the picture is a little pixelated and fuzzy. We are in the process of upgrading our satellite package to an HD tuner and will purchase the necessary HD cabling to go along with it. I'll report back on this product as soon as it is installed.
Also, if you buy the HD cabling at Best Buy, they want about $80 for the cable. My husband tells me there is an HD cable here on Amazon that runs about $12. I'd definitely recommend looking for it and buying that.
Maxent 50" HDTV Plasma.......2007-08-07
Very clear picture and rapid response to questions related to support request. Sound system can be improved. Added larger sound capability to the system. Best product you can buy for the price offered.

The integrated network management card allows for remote monitoring and control of the Rack Air Removal Unit SX. This space-saving product mounts to the back of the NetShelter SX enclosure - requiring zero U space. This memory is designed for NetShelter SX enclosures 600mm Wide. For a complete compatibility list please refer to the original manufacturer's web site.
Product Description
High-Definition audio and video programming is the hottest commodity in the consumer electronics industry. In order to take advantage of it, most devices utilize the HDMI interface to provide crystal-clear digital sound and picture. With the wealth of devices now using HDMI, it's easy to run out of open HDMI inputs. The Impact Acoustics 5-Port HDMI Selector Switch solves this problem by providing additional high-definition digital inputs for sources such as DVD, Blu-ray and HD-DVD players, gaming systems, and high-definition set top boxes offered by cable and satellite providers. It is fully HDCP compatible with HDTV HDCP-enabled sources. The front panel LEDs display the HDMI source currently selected. The Infrared remote control features discrete commands for easy integration into existing home theater systems, and the Infrared Extender jack enables the selector switch to be operated by your home automation system or other equipped devices such as infrared extenders.

Works really well.......2007-12-28
My main concern when buying this was that it would degrade the picture quality. The tv I am using is a 32 inch Olevia 232V (I think) LCD (only 1080i). I haven't really been able to tell if I have lost any quality because different HD channels are different quality and depending on the show...etc. But as far as I can tell, I can not see a difference. Anyway, I really like this product. I now have my verizon fios (motorola) box, my pc (DVI to HDMI) and my upconverting dvd player all connected and I still have room for a PS3 (Blu Ray) and a HD DVD player. Can't beat this, because I was looking for a new stereo receiver with more HDMI connections. The only ones I found with 3 or more ports were high end $1K plus models. I said forget that.
Unfortunately sketchy device, OK customer service........2007-11-14
This device does not work with either one of my HDTV's and my Toshiba HD-A2 (an HD-DVD player). Since I can return them for a full refund, I would give the product two stars. But I ordered two of these unusable boxes... so that knocks the rating down to one star. I have returned both of these HDMI switches to Amazon for a full refund (due in the next several weeks).
If you have an HD-A2 (and who knows how many other incompatible HD devices), save yourself the trouble and do not buy this HDMI switch. I spent an entire afternoon on the phone with polite but ultimately befuddled customer support. Customer support could not explain why the switch did not work and could not provide me with either a solution or a list of known devices that are incompatible with this HDMI switch. This seemed sketchy, like double-speak. In other words, they would ultimately rather not admit whether these two particular devices were defective or if this whole line has defective hand-shaking firmware. At least they were polite and admitted that the fault is on their side of the problem.
Stay away from this device without a doubt if you have an HD-A2. (If any other customers have a different experience than mine, please write a review.) In general, I would not recommend buying this HDMI switch because of the frustration and wasted time it caused for me and because there is no definitive list of what HDMI devices will or will not work with it.
UPDATE: I recently purchased an Oppo switch to replace this one OPPO HM-31 Certified HDMI 1.3 and 1080p Switch. It works flawlessly with these two devices and both HDTVs. My final conclusion is that either both of these models I bought were either defective or that this product simply does not have good handshake abilities with certain devices, likely older ones. The HD-A2 is certainly one of those devices, and perhaps there are other older HDMI machines that will not work with this switch.
If you are just getting on the bandwagon and purchasing some older model HDMI devices like the Toshiba HD-A2, this switch may not work with them. Many people, like myself, are just now buying HD players like the A2 now that the price is dropping from over $500 to under $100 over the holiday season.
There is too little regulation occurring between all the companies and their individual HDMI technologies, and this product is one example of a device that falls into this trap. Buyer beware. If all of your devices are brand-spanking new, this may work out well for you. If not, don't waste your time.
SECOND UPDATE: Another person has confirmed that this switch also does not work with the HD-A3, so add that to the list.
2 Failed.......2007-11-10
I have had two of these now. Both failed. I've got them connected to an HD DVD Player and a Sony 400 disk dvd changer to my Panasonic 42 Plasma. Amazon let me return both, but still, two go bad in 24 hours?
Switch Hit.......2007-10-18
If you find yourself with more HDMI source components than your receiver or TV has HDMI inputs, then the Impact Acoustics/Cables To Go 5-Port Switch will give you what you need without a costly TV or receiver upgrade.
We did a complete test and review of this device on Big Picture Big Sound and found that it reliably switched between various SD and HD source devices, all the way up to a 1080p HDMI 1.3 source. Sources we tested included a Sony PS3, Panasonic DMP-BD30 Blu-ray Disc Player, Toshiba HD-XA1, HD-XA2 and HD-A35 HD-DVD players, a Panasonic DMR-EZ27 upconverting DVD recorder and DISH Network ViP622 HD DVR. These were fed to both an Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver and (at different times) an Integra DTR-7.8 receiver with outputs of these devices going into a Panasonic plasma and Toshiba LCD HDTV (all via HDMI).
We did have one compatibility issue when using the PS3 into the switch into an older receiver (Onkyo TX-SR674) - no picture or sound - but when we took the receiver out of the loop, the problem went away, so we can't specifically blame the switch for that. Also, with more recent HDMI 1.3-compatible receivers, the problem did not reproduce.
The discrete input buttons on the remote and discrete power on/power off codes make this ideal for use with a universal remote as you can prevent power or input "sync" issues that can arise if you have the remote out of range or pointed in the wrong direction temporarily.
Keep in mind that this switch will not add an HDMI input to a TV or receiver that has none. In order to use this, your TV or receiver does have to have at least one HDMI or DVI digital input.
