Tech Talk
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

great for a bedroom loud clear and gets the job done.also note there is no eq tone controlls however the preset surround modes works good enough.

I bought this system for $[...] after rebate from office depot. you can not ask too much for this price. however, it does provide something beyond my expectation: it can play almost all the media format, including some odd avi and wmv codec. it plays the files stores in my USB external hard drive, which I found very useful. I stored 50GB mp3 and 400GB MTVs and now I don't need to hookup the computer.

However, several cons:
1. its decoder doesn't seems to work right. when you turn the surround mode on, you will find the main sound power are from the center channel.
2. there is no a decent audio output. usually a DVD player should have some digital audio outputs so that you can connect it to an external receiver, quite often an optical one is included. but this one only comes with analogical output with just two channels. I don't understand why it is designed like this. just place a cable before its amplification circuit and drill another hole in its back will do. it won't reduce much cost but missed a very important and basic feature.
3. its subwoofer is weak.

in general, it is good buy for people just want something to watch and listen without asking more on the sound quality.

Setup was very easy. The five disc changer is great. If you have a tv room the size of a bedroom this will be a fine system for you. The only draw back is the length of the back speaker wires. They really need to be longer. Easy to fix but it would be better to have it come that way.

Arrived in a timely manner...powerful enough for a medium size room...rear surround speakers work very well...5 disc transport system very convenient to use...remote control easy to use...could use more AV inputs and outputs however, but if you're simply hooking up a cable box it should work fine...DVD unit itself works as advertised...speaker connections well color coded.
