good scanner.......2006-09-12
The unit is quiet and fast; it 'grabs' the page when you stick it in to get ready for the scan command from the PC. It works seamlessly with Microsoft Scanning software built in to XP or any other TWAIN compliant program (Adobe, etc.). It handles black, gray scale and color and multipage scanning is no problem by continuing to feed pages. The software handles up to 14-inch length (US-legal size); the software is constrained to this length but it shoudln't be. Hopefully they'll update the software again to eliminate that restriction. The minor negatives are that the page does sometimes feed at angle requiring re-scanning, and sometimes the paper does not start feeding without a gentle nudge. This creates a black section at the top of the page and the bottom gets cut off, again needing to re-scan. I get >95% success so these issues are small.
In general it's a very good unit and I'm very satisfied with it. I paid £59 in the UK for it (~$110) and it's more expensive in the US which is rarely the case.
