IOGEAR USB/Firewire Hub.......2007-11-12
Great Product! One of the few consumer-level hubs that provides Firewire 400 connections. Although it has seven ports, one USB and one Firewire are used to connect to your computer-duh! So, in reality you have two Firewire 400 and three USB connections available for external devices. Not once has my Mac complained about "not having enough power" for any USB devices being plugged in. The little rubber desk stand is a somewhat flimsy and will never stand upright with various cables and devices tugging at it. I used a cable tie to lightly attach my unit in an inconspicuous location underneath my desk. It's a "done deal solution!"
Good combo hub, cheap stand.......2006-08-23
This hub works well on my iMac, no problems at all. I especially like the 2 available ports (1 firewire, 1 USB) on the front for easy access to plug in temporary devices such as a USB memory stick, firewire video camera, etc. As noted, you don't really get 3 firewire ports, since one of them is needed to connect the hub to your computer leaving only 2 firewire ports left on the hub. Definitely misleading advertising. My biggest complaint is the cheap soft rubber stand that this hub just sits in. It is very unstable and loose fitting, and the hub pops out of the stand very easily if knocked over. Hence the 3 star rating. Otherwise, it a nice hub for the money.

Good:
* 4 USB 2.0 ports work well.
* Don't know whats wrong with these guys my firewire ports ARE POWERED. Both my iPod and iSight work as expected too. All connected to the GUH420. See the pic I uploaded using my plugged in iSight camera.
Bad:
* False advertising. IOGear claims 3 firewire ports. NOT TRUE. There are only really two. One port needs to be connected to the computer or in my case the back of my Apple Cinema Display.
Conclusion: 3 of 5 stars only because the 3 Firewire ports claim irritated me. Otherwise it looks good, works well and is very inexpensive.

Don't bother with this hub; the firewire ports are unpowered. Your iPod will drain its battery power; your firewire hard drive will not work unless it has its own AC power source.

I have had mine for 2 months and the firewire ports stopped working. I am waiting to see if Iogear will honor their warranty.

I installed the TRENDnet card in my Dell and it found it with no problems. I connected my Canon DV camcorder and created a short video.
The supplied cable came in handly. It would have been nice to have an internal connection to connect the camera to the front of the Dell.

Their site lists this item as being Vista compatible! although the packaging lists 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, and Mac 8.6+...plug & play...includes 6'(6pin to 4 pin)cable. Also required is an available PCI 2.2 slot. 2 year warranty. Great product, useful for my external HDD (faster than USB 2.0). Highly recommended to those whos PC doesnt already have Firewire.

I plugged this card into my new Dell XPS computer with Windows Vista, and it was recognized as soon as I booted up. Plugged in my Panasonic Camcorder and transferred my videos to my PC using Roxio very easily. Glad to see a product that works as advertised!

Venturing into video for the first time, I was anxious to get a good setup that would allow me to easily move my video logs and film projects onto my PC and computer. I was amazed at how easily it worked as once it was plugged in, the PC quickly detected the camera and easily moved the video onto my PC for editing. Kids Mouse.......2007-08-16
I bought this mouse cos my 3 yr old was not too good with the touch pad. He got used to the mouse quickly. I had no trouble setting up the mouse, just turned off the computer and turned it back on with the mouse plugged in. Also no trouble with switching between mouse and touch pad as the mouse is too small for my hand. The downside is it lacks a scroll wheel.
