I bought this item because my USB port on laptop has pretty much crapped out. The ZONET ZUC2700 2-USB 2.0 2-FIREWIRE Combo Cardbus Card worked fairly well. Sometimes it would not work so I would have to take it out of my laptop and plug it back in.
The one thing I do not like is how flimsy it is. My wife set the laptop down on the chair and cracked the card. We know have to order a new one since it does not work.

I have Acer aspire 5102wlmi which doesnt have firewire port in it, so I needed a firewire cardbus to capture DV video from my canon elura 100 camcorder. I first ordered a cheap firewire cardbus from some other seller and plugged into my pc card slot. While capturing I saw that more than 60% of frames were being dropped. Initially I thought it might be my PC; may be its not able to keep up with the speed with which data is being fed. I tried everything on my PC (like closing all other running program and network connections), but nothing worked. Then I thought of buying this cardbus from Zonet (as I have already read about their quality products). It came in couple of days and I plugged it in right away along with my camcorder and started capturing my fav video...and wow not even a single frame drop in 60 minute video. Quality was amazing. Finally I have following to say about this product:
- Good quality, no frames drop while video capturing
- No power required while capturing or connecting other externally powered devices. It doesnt come with USB power cable however, just in case if required on some weak PCs.
- USB doesnt work (externally) unpowered devices, e.g. portable hard disks.
- Price is decent comparing with other brand products.
