excellent radio.......2003-12-13
I feel tired turning the tuning wheel every time commercials come on, so I went out and bought this digital tuning radio with memory presets. Now I can jump between AM talk radios quickly. This makes exercise feel more enjoyable (time goes faster too).
RF-SW200 has great built quality, the metal case/preset button feels very solid, mine is made in Taiwan, that assures me it received better quality control than those made by other third world countries.
It's also a great office radio, I use a Sennheiser head phones and the FM stereo sounds amazingly clean (I only recommend XBS --panasonic's extra bass, with a lesser head phones).
One note on the tuning increments, it can be set as small as FM 0.05Mhz and AM 9kHz, it's clearly printed in the instructions :-)
Also there's a $20 rebate going on till end of Dec. 2003.

Finally found one that works!.......2002-12-13
My wife and I are avid runners and have been looking for a AM/FM radio unit that is small enough to use while running but not so small that you can't easily hold it in your hand. We don't like the strap on types, they never seem to stay in place, it's easier just to hold the unit in your hand so you can change the station and keep the wire to the headphones clear. In addition, I've tried and returned a few of these and this is the only one that actually works. It gets all of my favorite AM and FM stations clear enough to be useful while running. If you are not sure about which unit to buy I would give this one a try, it worked for me.
Great Radio!.......2002-03-04
I love this radio. It is great to use when working out, whether you actually use the arm band on your arm or to attach it to the machine you're using.
Positives: 10 FM Stations!!!! This was one of the few armband radios that I could actually find that would allow me to program more than 5 FM stations. It also allows for 10 AM stations, which I could never in a million years fill. Reception is good, features are good (Hold is feature that I like, that forces the radio to keep its settings no matter what buttons are pressed - keeps the radio from being accidentally turned on in a gym bag). The radio is lightweight and compact and batteries seem to last quite some time.
Negatives: Headphones are uncomfortable. No worries, I'll buy new ones. Reception is good but not great. If you're moving around, you sometimes lose reception a little too easily. Moving between preset bands (1 & 2) is a little difficult.

A Lot of Hot Air!.......2007-11-25
We recently got DirecTV after seeing their ad blitz for 75 HD channels. They brag about their "digital picture and sound," and their great customer service.
The truth is the only way to get digital picture and sound is with a HDTV and an HDMI. Their picture is actually worse than the picture we got with Comcast. Not to mention there is no two year agreement with cable, no picture loss when it rains, you do not have to pay for "leased equipment, and you do not need an ugly dish hanging on your house.
When we purchased our most recent HDTV, we figured we would replace the DVR we had with DirecTV and get an HD DVR to replace it.
DirecTV told us we would have to pay $299 for the privlige of leasing their receiver from them. In addition to this we would have to pay $50 because we were a new customer "and had not established a credit history with them." Also, we would have to pay $20 for shipping and handling and extend our contract for another two years.
Maybe DirecTV thinks it is in the cellphone business because all they want to do is lock you into long-term contracts and make you bleed money to them forever. Their symbol should be a ball and chain because that is what they really are. Cable here I come!
Avoid the DirecTV Trap..........2007-07-09
I am currently trapped in a DirecTV contract. Every time it rains, the TV signal is lost. Additionally, DirecTV nickles and dimes me to death. They advertise you can get programming starting at $29.99, but you will not get out for anything less than about $60.00 once they add all the hidden fees. Additionally, you must pay an extra $5 for each additional TV. We also have the DVR service which is so unreliable, we have to use a VCR as back-up to ensure we get our shows recorded.
Recently, we had to move and suspended our account during the move. After we reactivated our account, we were charged late fees for bills we never received. Our contract was extended another two years without our consent. We called DirecTV service, and they do not care.
Once my contract is over, we will be cancelling DirecTV to go back to cable.
Great Basic Receiver.......2007-03-11
I have 3 of these in bedrooms in our house, and they are a great and reliable basic receiver we also have an HD DVR in the living room. All our receivers work great. In the 15+ years we have had DirecTV service, all our hardware has worked flawlessly. When I have set up new programming options and now local channels, they were prompt and courteous in helping me. The HD channel line up is great and more to come. No, I don't work for them and don't even have stock in the company.

Routing bugs, reluctance to fix them.......2007-01-06
I was a user and fan of iGuidance v2, but I cannot recommend iGuidance v3 until iNav addresses these issues:
On a recent trip between Boston and Buffalo, iGuidance v3 plotted a route that paralleled US Interstate 90 instead of taking it - check any roadmap to see for yourself how silly this is. (And no, "Route Options" not set on "local" - the route it plotted never varied no matter which of the 4 available Route Options were selected.) When I passed a highway exit it wanted me to take, iGuidance should have simply recalculated the route, but instead it locked up my PDA. Finally, it repeatedly advised me to take illegal u-turns on the Official Vehicles crossovers.
I work in software development and I know that every application has bugs. The concern comes when a manufacturer doesn't want to fix them. When I notified iNav of this problem, they repeatedly insisted that it wasn't a malfunction, it was just how their algorithm worked.
To be fair -- finally, reluctantly, iNav Support agreed to check their code. But I will remain suspicious of any software developed by a company that claims that their algorithm is OK even when it fails so obviously in a real-world situation.
Easy to use and map is great.......2006-12-02
The map is quite accurate and up to date. The voice prompt is excellent. It prompts a couple of times before you make a turn. Easy to connect to GPS receiver, relatively fast on PDA, user interface is intuitive, and you can choose what map you want to load.
However, there are a few things it should improve:
1. If you install not to default location (C:\...), all shortcuts are wrong (they points to default location regardless of your choice). Do they have QA?
2. POI doesn't show on map.
3. If you load another map, it will overwrite pervious map. Why cannot they use multiple map files?
4. It is akward to enter an address (why they cannot provide a couple of text box?). Some times, it is difficult to get address right. It only allows you to enter either a street name or city name.
Beats others in its class.......2006-10-12
I have an HP IPAQ rx3115 and Holux GPSlim 236.
Other software I have tried is MS streets & trips and also Delorme street atlas 2006 for handheld. Iguidance blows them both away. While the routing may not be perfect it gets you where you're going and recalculates quickly (within 10 seconds) if you get offtrack.
The map pans quickly. While it only says the names of major highways it still lets you know in advance where to turn. I use a mount up high on my dash so its a quick glance over to see the name of the road.
There are many tweaks you can do to customize the interface.
it does take some time to load the maps but this only has to be done once if you have enough memory space.
I guidance Rocks.......2006-07-05
I Tried a couple of pda software included Microsoft pocket, and was disapointed for one resaon or the other. One hundred percent satify with this product. I guidance does exactly what it promise on the box.
good program can be improved.......2006-03-31
I have used Microsoft streets and trip, and then I bought this program. In some respect it is better and in other respects it is not. This program was designed for the stand alone gps system where as the Microsoft s&t is a general purpose program with lots of commands and options. The Map system is better in Microsoft, but the guidance system is better with Iguidance. It has 3d views, better voice and better user interface. All in all it is worth buying if you have a laptop or a pda and a gps receiver it gives you a cheaper way to solve your gps problems.
I have used Pharos, Holux and Globalsat's Gps receiver. Of the three I like to Globalsats bt-253 the best. It does not lose signals whereas Pharos seems to lose the signals. It may be a little more accurate because of the number of satallites that it can get being a 20 channel one. As far as map accuracy and uptodateness of maps, I really don't know about areas other than mine. It seems to be very uptodate in the Sanfrancisco east bay area.
