Don't let the diminutive size of Sangean's wonderful DT-300-WV fool you--it performs better than many large radios we've tested and comes with enough features to keep anyone happy. In addition to an excellent AM/FM digital receiver, you can use the device to pull in weather band frequencies and local TV stations that broadcast on VHF channels 2-13. A digital LCD displays the frequency or station you're tuned to and also serves as a clock.
The DT-300-VW's ability to pull in signals simply awed us. We used the device for weeks in a basement office that's notorious for bad radio reception, and the small radio was locking onto stations that no other device we've tested could even detect. A handy auto-scan feature makes it easy to find stations, and you can establish up to nine presets on each band the radio can access. A button on the front let us switch to mono mode to reduced static from weak FM signals, and a switch on the top can lock the unit so that inadvertent button presses don't change the station or turn the radio off.
The sound quality from the built-in speaker is merely decent, and the included earbud headphones offer a similarly tinny level of performance. We plugged a beefier set of headphones into the DT-300-VW and were stunned with the difference it made. The little radio was pumping out a rich, clean signal that made listening to stereo FM music a joy. The radio also is capable of extreme volume that overpowered our headphones at high levels.
For the money, portable radios don't get much closer to perfection, but we did find a few slight drawbacks. The biggest is that reception falls off dramatically when headphones are not plugged in. Headphones augment the built-in antenna, and without them we had a tough time picking up any stations in our basement office, making the integrated speaker more useless than it could be. We also lost all our presets and had to reset the clock each time we swapped batteries. If you want to listen to FM radio without headphones we recommend staying away from this product, but if you plan to leave the headphones plugged in all the time, the DT-300-VW is a steal. --T. I've had this for several months now, and it has given me superior AM reception, which is important if you are a Talk Radio Fan like I am.
I have noticed that the On/Off button has started to "stick", but it's a minor concern.

I use portable radios for backpacking. On the really good side, this radio gets reception better than any other I have owned or tried.
BIG negative? The on/off switch. If you breathe on it, it activates the radio. What were they thinking? A portable radio that will turn on with the least movement. Why couldn't they have done it right with a conventional on/off switch? I hate this button, it sometimes renders it useless to use when the radio is in transit, as it will turn on (or off) with the least urging. argh!

Why does all these great reviews miss the key key feature that is missing---Direct Push Button Tuning. This should be radio design 101.
A thousand versions of MP3 and Ipod type players. Numerous small radios that you must listen thru earpieces and not thru speakers. Why is it that not a single manufacturer can build a small pocket radio that has a digital tuner and direct tuning push button presets as in your automobile. Radio Shack built a couple of version some 5 to 10 years ago and they were excellent. I have had 3 or 4 of them but all have now broken and RS no longer offers(they do offer a rather miserable version that has presets but you must scan thru all presets to get to the station you wish). Could you imagine doing that on your television set with some 2 hundred channels? This seems such an obvious product instead of the 1001st version of another MP3 player. There are those who carry a radio in their pockets when walking(think postmen), going to the beach, working, hiking, camping etc. This is a natural and yet no one builds such a unit that I can find. Again Radio Shack had such a unit some years ago(a couple of models--I would suggest a couple of ergonomic improvements but on the whole they were excellent and some bean counter at RS decided to no longer offer them). Sony has such a unit, but you can only listen via an earphone(not thru a speaker). Someone once told me that the key to business success was always to know what the chikens are eating.

This is the best pocket radio I have ever owned, and I have had quite a few. Great sound quality and not only does it tune into the 13 major TV channels, along with AM and FM, but it has a very useful lock button that prevents accidental station changing while allowing the volume to be changed. This is a feature that let's you use the radio while exercising without concern about losing your station. Another feature missing on most other pocket radios is the automatic 90 minute time off, which if you use the radio in bed, significantly saves battery life. It also let's you select stations you can pre-set, by pressing a select button or can scan stations. These are features you will find generally only on table top radios, except for the lock button, which is the first I've seen on any radio.

I got this for my husband to replace his 2 Sony armband Walkman radios....neither of which could pull in a strong signal from our local NPR station while he was walking. The reception of this FM station on the Sangean is great!.

I've had good experience with Panasonic phones in the past. The Oct 2007 Consumer Reports issue rated this phone #3 behind a more costlier Uniden and an AT&T 5.8/2.4 GHZ model. It has great voice quality both hearing and talking, easy to use settings and display, and I especially like the adjustable ringer and volume controls.
The Panasonic KXT-TG6021M is big bang for the bucks! If you're looking for a excellent basic phone (no base speaker phone, no lighted keypad, no VM features) but has conferencing and speaker phone in the hand set, buy this model. Warranty is a year but for a under $40 phone, who cares.
