How to Design a Scanner.......2007-12-22
I bought this scanner to use on my Vista laptop and an XP laptop. It replaced an all in one unit from HP.
As an occasional use semi-portable scanner this is just about perfect. Plug and Play in Vista (downloaded latest Vista driver and software package automatically), gets power though USB (so just one standard, easy to find, probably have a bunch laying around cable) and, good quality and speed for the price. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the software, no junk or extra services hanging around when the scanner is not in use.
The scanner could be a little quieter and a little thinner but again at this price range those can be overlooked. Casing is hard plastic, durable enough for around the house use but might not be solid enough for the road warrior.
Driver includes ability to scan multiple pictures at one pass and save them as different files automatically.
I highly recommend this product.

Bought this for work. It is an awesome scanner for a small business. Our customers are loving the fact that we can scan drawings, prints, bill of ladings, certificates of origin, and other documents and send them over as a .pdf file. Not every business has all the bells and whistles on their computers but who doesn't have the ability to read Adobe these days? I like the copy function since the company copy machine is hundreds of yards from my office. It has a slight whine when it scans but if you have music playing you are not likely to hear it and it only lasts seconds. Great buy for our purpose.

I bought this scanner because I wanted one that is good for quick and easy scanning. And I have to say, this scanner does it both. It is very small and thin which comes in handy in a small office or on a smaller desk. It scans fine. It is a little slow, but that is expected from a cheape scanner. I don't use the included ArcSoftware as I have different picture editing sofwares. I only use the ScanoToolbox which is the software you actually need to operate the scanner, you don't have to use the other programs included.
The ScanoToolbox is easy to operate and gives you the chance to scan right into pictures, pdf, OCR, and others. You can set the properties for all options (eg. resolution, default program to open scanned files, etc).
The quality of the scanned images/papers is great.
I can highly recommend this scanner to everyone who does not need a high volume scanner, someone who just wants a small, easy-to-use scanner for home or the office.
If you don't like the software, don't install it. But if you have trouble with it, maybe you need to check your computer in general for errors or problems. The included software works fine and does not interfere with anything on your computer.

To comment on A.J.Bracuti's complaints:
1. This phone operates like a cell phone. You don't have to scroll through the whole "phone book" contact list; just key the first letter of the contact name and it jumps to that alphabetical position, then you may have to scroll from there. But you can minimize that by prefix letters; eg all my take-out restaurants have RST
as the first four letters. I like it better than the 9-entry scheme. With appropriate letter prefixes you could emulate a 9-entry list.
2. I too was disappointed that there apparently isn't even a non-standard wall plate with the required mounting-lug spacing available, and in the installation instructions there is no specific mating wall plate identified. (The ATT wall phone this replaces did have two optional spacings: one the standard and the other the same as this GE phone.) There is a simple solution though: Use the upper lug as-is and, instead of using the lower lug, replace the lower screw holding the plate to the box frame with a slightly longer screw with a slightly larger pan head; it's at just the right spacing; if you let it stand out ~1/4", you can clip the phone on and it's snug & securely mounted.
As others have commented, it is plastic & not stainless steel (which would have been really cool). The range, clarity & telephone functions are all fine. The only thing I would change is the handset loudness; I can just barely adjust it as loud as I need it. Given that there are so few true wall-mount phones available, I would buy it again. (Most so-called wall phones, like Panasonic, have adapters that are really just shelves that stick out too far.)

Just received the phone this week along with three additional handsets. The phone looks GREAT with the rest of the stainless steel appliances in my kitchen and the rest of the handsets look classy throughout the house. It is a little smaller than I imagined but it works great and was easy to program. I am giving it four stars rather than 5 because it is NOT stainless steel, it is plastic, but it still looks great. I imagine stainless steel would be very heavy but this phone is very light. I am enjoying it very much after using a corded phone for 2 years in this house. I would definitely purchase again.

In my 70 years, this is by far the worst purchase i have ever made. Handset feed=back when on speaker fone unless your 3 - 4 feet away. Voice mail can only delete if you disassemble all the menu items. This has turned me off GE and its Product line. I will look elsewhere.
