It's an OK radio for jogging.......2002-12-19
I gave this radio 2 stars; one for the preset buttons, which I need if I want to change stations while I'm jogging, and one for the long life of the AAA batteries. Beyond that, the belt clip fell off and got lost a long time ago, so I have to either keep the radio in a zipped pocket, or hold it in my hand. Unfortunately while I'm holding it, the battery cover tends to pop off. The pulse checker is worthless. The headphones that came with the radio were poor quality and uncomfortable. I gave them to my rabbit for a chew toy.
Waste of money.......2002-03-03
I couldn't agree more with the above reviewers: this is an extremely poorly made product and I am glad I lost it today as it's given the impetus to finally replace it with something that (a) can be carried without being in the pocket (b) whose volume does not flip up or down easily and (c) that every time it's bumped--which is often if you use it for sports--emits loud beeps into your headphones.
Another low quality "Sony Phony".......2001-11-27
This product exemplifies the decline of Sony quality. Unless they redesigned this model since I bought one in December 2000, it is not an armband radio. It only has a strap suitable for hanging on something, or wrapping around your wrist. It does have a belt clip. To release the clip manually, you push on the tab. To release it automatically, you put it on your belt. Unfortunately, the automatic release feature occurs when you least expect it, usually when standing over some hard surface like concrete or a glass table top. The best way I have found to carry the unit usually is to put it in my pocket. Definitely not recommended for sports! The tuning and reception are very poor indeed, with station bleed through, regardless of inside or outside location. Setting the digital to 98.7 yields 103FM usually. That does not happen with any other of my radios at home. There are switches on the back for Mega Bass and FM Sensitivity. These are cheap switches which never fully "click" into place, requiring constant fiddling that results in shorting static.
There are some good features, like the locking feature, which either locks the station setting or power off. This is necessary because the buttons tend to get pushed (especially when in my pocket). The volume control, however, does not lock in, and may turn up or down unexpectedly. Do not buy one of these, and please consider Panasonic or JVC products. All my JVC and Panasonic products are topnotch, while every walkman I ever owned an most recently my Sony video recorder have broken. And I babied them. So no more phony baloney Sony for me!!

Although the size of the radio is decent I find the reception is weak and the battery door keeps popping open, causing a loss of preset stations and reseting the clock. You can find a better radio with better reception for less money.

A bit hard to program..........2006-03-24
The manual was hard for me to follow; and I'm someone who is picks up consumer electronics fairly quick (no flashing 12:00 in my house). If you read carefully, programming will be quick. It's light and has a wide variety of devices it can control. It's great for the price.

Good value GPS.......2007-11-17
Generally a very solid unit. The biggest issue that other reviewers have pointed out is the fact that when you first turn the unit on, it doesn't pick up the satellites immediately. You have to wait sometimes several minutes for it to sync. The way around this is to go to the GPS info screen right after you turn it on and let it sync (this takes less than 1 minute) and then enter your address and hit NAV. You'd think there might be a software upgrade to fix this. Overall, though, a good unit for the price.

Got this for Christmas. I agree with another person that it has a fairly steep learning curve.
My main problem is that it doesn't pick up a satellite when I turn it on. Everytime I get in my car
I have to go to the section that searches for a GPS Satellite. It always finds it and then it works.
I have clicked on "Set GPS" & "Automatic reconnect" but it still doesn't connect.
Also find their support pretty bad. Very hard to get any kind of answer from them.
Mine broke after a Month.......2007-01-17
My stylus could not be re-calibrated after 1 month. Defective screen. Not sure how common this is anymore. Customer service/support was poor. Never returned any emails or phone calls. Finally spoke to a real human who told me to return for an exchange as they have been having problems with the touch screen. When the unit worked, it gave good directions and was easy to use, once you learned the ropes.

I agree with the previous review that it's preety good for the price. Also, most models in this price range do not include Canada in their maps.
Some Cons you should be aware of.
1. Cannot play mp3 and do gps at the same time.
2. Does not include a headphone jack so you can only listen to MP3 on the built in speaker.
3. No way to custimize the info that is on the display of the GPS (ex. time, MPH, direction etc....).
4. Does not switch display automatically between day and night automatically.
5. No way to adjust speker volume without exiting GPS program.
Great item for the price........2006-12-19
My reason for getting this item was to get me from Wisconsin to the east coast for job interviews, but also to guide me through some sight seeing as well. Initially the item I was looking for was the Tomtom One, but the price really made me look for an alternative whereas I happened upon this item.
For the long haul parts of the trip the item worked extremely well and was fairly accurate at finding food and gas stations along the way, however with all the changes of businesses it was off a few times. Navigation in DC was very good, but does not account for traffic as some of the newer navigation systems are doing which would have been a fantastic help in rush hour traffic. The pedestrian mode was also helpful on occasion and with the small size is easily useful that way.
The learning curve was not steep for me, but I would consider myself tech savvy and I could see how people new to the item could have difficulties. As well, every few hours the unit went back to the launch screen, especially when changing from one map section to another, which was a bit annoying and surprising.
