A Big Disappointment.......2007-12-01
I have used Microsoft AutoRoute Europe 2001 with very good success for the last several years. In the process of planning a trip to Republic of Macedonia, however, I could find most, but not all my desitinations. I thought I might do well to look into purchasing the latest edition.
The FEATURES of Microsoft AutoRoute Europe 2007 describe "New! Increased map coverage for Eastern Europe and updated maps for Western Europe." I figured this was just the ticket for me, but was I wrong. There is a big hole in the map of Europe where the central "Balkans" should be! There is absolutely no information for this region - zero, zip, nada.
If you're planning to travel extensively in southeastern Europe, you're burning $39.95 on Microsoft AutoRoute Europe 2007.
Not Just For Driving.......2007-11-17
I bought this product prior to a European trip which took us around Switzerland for a week, 9 days down the Rhine and a week in Amsterdam. I did not drive but used this software, in conjunction with the USB GPS, to track our movements, annotate memorable spots, remember where pics were taken and find addresses in all cities we visited... It was invaluable because there was no language barrier, no confusion on place names and is vailable 24/7. We are currently using the software to help plan our next trip to Italy...

Great cable and awesome price. Don't ever waste your money on digital interconnects. Get this cable and enjoy every bit of signal fidelity your component has to offer. If anyone tries to sell you $50 HDMI cable, feel free to laugh in their face and walk away from them.

The Casio PhoneMate TA-105, with all-digital recording technology, brings simplicity and security to message management.
The TA-105 is easy to set up and operate. When you have a new message, the TA-105's bright red indicator light flashes quickly. With a touch of the big, blue Play/Pause button, the TA-105's synthesized voice announces the number of total and new messages and plays back the new ones, with the time and day stamp announced for each. Press the Play/Pause button again to listen to saved messages, too. You can skip or erase any message during play, or you can erase all messages at once. Don't worry about accidental erasure during a power failure; the TA-105's battery back-up will save your greeting, messages, and programmed settings.

This machine never worked reliably. It occasionally would cut off callers in the middle of their message. Also the battery backup does not work.

Got this machine for free from a yard sale...Works fine but I don't know how to individually erase messages because it didn't come with an operators manual so....I'll try Casios tech # that I got from here unless someone just wants to give me the big ole secret here....otherwise I have to wait for one in the mail....is there a pdf version available?

Ok, these "user's review" have their share of dummies, but some of the reviews about this great little answering machine top them all ! Beware: don't believe eveything you read !
This Casio of mine has been working perfectly for 2 years now: electrical burn-outs are no problem: the 9 volt battery takes care of the outgoing message and all of the recorded messages.
You CAN erase each message individually, and skip to the next one, without being forced to listen to is entirety. It does everything it claims in the manual, and you would know that if you'd READ THE MANUAL !
Works great ! Buy it if you cand find one !
Basic phone answering with simple controls.......2002-03-30
I bought mine because it had the fewest buttons with the most obvious functions. It's for my technophobic father-in-law who won't touch a PC and can't operate most of the functions of his TV's remote control. This is the best user interface I have seen for such people. They really put some thought into it. They didn't just put up a group of identical, symetrically-arranged buttons whose labels you have to read to know which to press. I bought mine at Goodwill, so it came without a user's manual. But it was obvious enough how to use it, and the stickers on the back provided enough additional information to ease setting up the outgoing message and correct day and time.
I thank Casio for their attention to the user interface. More companies should do likewise.
The single problem I have had is that the VOX threshhold is a bit too high. Some calls get cut off after 10 seconds (all mine from my work phone) while most of them can go on - presumably up to the documented 5 minute limit.

Easy accuracy Improvement for low price!.......2005-05-23
In practical testing on the trail, I have found that the Garmin V with basic antenna will lose satellite coverage significantly sooner than my GPS 12's. In fact there are times when the GPS 12 does not lose coverage at all while the Garmin V goes in and out. I installed a Gilsson Amplified GPS BNC external antenna for the Garmin V for some real-world observations.
I spent a few minutes doing some research on the web and the recommendations for mounting a patch antenna like this were pretty simply. Put it someplace where it has a 360-degree, unobstructed "view" of the sky. For me that could only mean one thing: I put it up on the roof rack.
Next I had to figure out where to run the cable. That was pretty easy. There is one small spot at the front corner of the top where it meets the windshield that there is a gap large enough for the cable to pass without being crushed. I released the top and fed it through. Then I covered the cable where it would be exposed with some wire harness covering.
I attached the antenna bracket to the roof rack. I mounted the antenna to the bracket. The antenna has magnets embedded in the base, but that doesn't make me feel very confident, so I ran two wire ties around it to keep it from wandering. I don't think the plastic will interfere with the signal. Then I wire-tied the cable behind the roof rack frame as best I could to provide some protection from tree branches, and to keep it from whistling when I drive. I have some extra cable to stash inside the cab.
The satellite reception results were pretty good. Where the accuracy was running about 42 feet on the internal antenna, it increased in accuracy to 15 feet. I had three or four satellites locked with the internal antenna; 8-10 with the external one. This bodes well for satellite reception in the woods.
