Product Description
The Pocket GPS Navigator is comprised of the iGPS hardware and the Ostia navigation software supplied on CD-ROMs. With the navigation software installed on your HP iPAQ, locating your current position, or finding a destination or point of interest (POI) is fast and simple. Routes can be calculated and viewed. Once you're in your vehicle, simply activate the navigation program and begin traveling; the automated voice-prompts will instruct you when and where to turn. If by chance you go "off route, " the automated voice will give an off-route warning. Simply push the "Action" button on your HP iPAQ and the system will reroute you to your destination from your current position.
Customer Reviews:
unbelievable.......2005-01-05
I find it hard to review this product since I bought a new one online (not Amazon) and the ostia software was not in it. The company does not back their product. They would not help me in no way. I do not like sending business to a company that does not look out for their customers. I don't think Pharos is a company anyone should buy from. I am on disability and have memory problems if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
No good for long trips.......2004-03-18
I have a 3900 series IPAQ and installed the software per the instructions. First problem, I could not open more than three maps at one time even though the book says ten. Second problem, there are gaps between the maps. I tried to have it plot me a trip from Atlanta, GA to Pensacola, FL. This is a straight-forward trip, but because of missing sections between the maps, it could not. Third problem, every second or third time I powered down the PDA when stopping for gas, I had to do a soft-reset to get the thing working at all. The system had no problems reconnecting to the GPS signal(s) during gas stops, except for these lockups, it usually took 30 to 45 seconds. Maps were accurate along the route, where maps were available. I found no updates available online to fix these problems. For around town I think it works great, but for any kind of distance, I would look into a different solution/product.
Easy to Install/Use, latest software very good........2003-11-30
The unit installed very easily. The 12v connector worked very well and did not disconnect. Both the gps unit and the pda were powered from the 12v connection. The software loaded easily on the laptop and transferred to the iPAQ with no problems. The maps require a little forethought. However, loadiing all of the state of Indiana still left lots of room on an SD card for other things. The system takes about 90 seconds to acquire satellites and then routes very well. Have only used it for local routing, but that is where I would need help most anyway. I already know how to use the interstates to get from one large metropolitan area to another (i.e. Chicago to Cleveland is relatively easy get on the interstate and stay on it). Sometimes it tells you about an exit just a little to close to the ramp. The voice prompts are very helpful.
Needs a lot of work ..........2003-03-09
The Pharos GPS for iPAQ has the potential to be a good product, but the current version has some some definate challenges. The Ostia mapping sodfware is fairly easy and frindly to use, but that's where its good points end. The routing is not very intuitive. For example a simple direct route between two large cities connected by an interstate would not route that way. Instead the route has you getting on and off the interstate onto US or state roads several times. Presumably it is a shorter distance that way. I was told that version 4.01 corrects this and was offered a "Free*" upgrade. (*just my opinion, but when you pay for a product that is outdated when you get it, I just don't see is as you doing me any special favor by giving me a "free" upgrade). Well, anyway the upgrade did have an option to stick to highways but it didn't work, the software still routed me the same way. The software decides the best way to get from point A to point C, not you. You can't go via point B. The next issue was the hardware. The cigarette lighter plug would not maintain a connection and any time there was a power loss the GPS signal would be lost. The GPS signal itself was hard to get and hard to keep. I finally determined after much trial and error and frustration that the problem was the connector between the cable and the GPS antenna. I contacted Pharos Tech support via email and received no reply. I called and explained all the problems and requested a new cable. They would not do that, and insisted I send the cable for testing. Not wanting to be down, I requested Pharos ship me a new cable first that I would pay for then they could issue me a credit once they received the old cable and determined it was bad. They would not do that either. The only way they would work with me was for me to send them the cable for them to test and return within 2 days. I did. Three weeks later I got my old cable back, no explaination, no repair, just a box with a cable. Still didn't work.
Summary: Concept - 5 stars, Software - 2 stars, Tech Support - minus 100 stars. Maybe a real software company will buy Pharos someday because they really do have some good ideas, but do not seem to be able to make them wouk right and clearly know nothing about customer service or relations. For now, buy a Navman, I did and while it's not 100% perfect, it's pretty good and I'm happy with it. See my review for that product.

Customer Reviews:
just an 'OK' antenna.......2007-11-06
I read about this antenna on a couple sites, which recommended it as a great antenna for UHF frequencies, and not particularly directional. Unfortunately, not so for me- seems quite sensitive to direction for some channels, and doesn't have the range (even with a power amp) I'd hoped for. also - be careful who sends it to you- the one I received was pretty beat up by the time it arrived; several element were bent quite a bit out of shape, since the cardboard box it was packed in wasn't up to the task.
Great antenna.......2007-10-01
I had bought 2 antennas previously based on recommendations from antennaweb and radio shack associates and they were both disappointments. For $100 and $60 respectively I could only get a few channels of HD programming after a lot of adjusting which involved many trips to the roof and back.
I read rgifford's review on Amazon and shared the frustration with getting an OTA HD signal, so I decided to give this antenna a try and I am very pleased with it (thanks rgifford!!). I live in Brooklyn, so I pointed the antenna at the empire state building, came downstairs and did an auto scan on my tv's HD tuner. It came up with 38 channels!! Granted, about half of them are public access and local bulletins, but I have ALL of the network channels in HD, a couple Spanish channels (HD soccer!), and some random music, cooking and travel channels. For $30 I couldn't have asked for more.
The antenna itself is relative small, much smaller than any of the previous antennas I had bought, and light. It didn't require any assembly and took about 5 minutes to install with just an adjustable wrench. If you have been having trouble getting local HD channels, especially if you live in NYC I strongly recommend this antenna!
Channel Master 4221.......2007-01-10
I initially made the mistake of thinking all expensive antennas were created equal. Needless to say, my first antenna was a $100 purchase that worked no better than my old rabbit ears.
I then made the decission to "step up" and purchased a Radio Shack antenna from the "electronic experts". It was touted as an attic antenna but was really too cumbersome for the attic and again provided no more value than my rabbit ears.
Fed up with making returns, and noticing that being in a hurry was costing me time, I finally decided to do some research. After much reading, I decided the 4221 based on its rating was going to be the right thing. I have it installed in my attic and could not be happier. It is a very manageable size and most importantly, it brings in all the channels flawlessly! After the two previous failures I could not be more thrilled. Price is not the key. It was cheaper than the two previous attempts by about half the cost. . . And the best news. It works!
You will want to check on the requirements for your area. A midrange UHF was perscribed as the right thing based on broadcast signals in my area. One also needs to ensure the antenna is pointed in the right direction. Most high gain antennas are directional as is the 4221. If you are looking for a midrange UHF, look no further.

The Brocade 4Gb SAN Switch for HP c-Class BladeSystem delivers an easy to manage embedded Fiber Channel switch solution with 4 Gbps performance to HP c-Class BladeSystem customers deploying a small SAN or expanding their current SAN. The Brocade 4Gb SAN Switch hot-plugs into the back of the HP c-Class BladeSystem enclosure, freeing up rack space. Server and switch interconnects internal to the BladeSystem reduce cabling, SFPs and associated costs. Shared power and cooling resources further reduce costs and additional points of failure. Employing high-speed technology for storage networking, trunking between the SAN facing ports and external HP StorageWorks B-series switches provides a higher bandwidth solution. External facing ports auto-sense lower bandwidth components for flexibility and investment protection. Previously, deployments using Fiber Channel-based high-speed storage networks connected servers to the network through ports on stand-alone switches external to the BladeSystem. Now IT managers have the ability to consolidate multiple HP servers, Fiber Channel switches, and Ethernet switches into a single platform for connectivity to the networked infrastructure at a lower cost than ever before. Multiple switches coupled with dual-redundant server connections ensure a highly available solution. This integration of technology results in space and cost savings due to a reduction of physical components, significant simplification of the SAN environment, outstanding performance, and easier deployment.Providing the best value and performance-enhancing features in a 12- to 24-port embedded SAN switch with the option to scale to larger fabrics on a "pay-as-you-grow" basis, the Brocade 4Gb SAN Switch enables increased productivity and substantial cost savings-from capital and operating expenses to overall management - benefiting organizations with limited dedicated IT staff.

Customer Reviews:
A good deal for low budget buyer.......2007-09-14
Navfly NV-900 in general can lock onto satellites in less than two minutes depending on the environment. It provides some nice features, such as selection between fastest time or shortest routes, warning you for speeding, calculating destination distance and adding via points etc. It's a good practice to check the Itinerary function first to see the turns and street names before driving. When entering address, the smart keyboard entry is definitely a plus for time saving.
Though the battery capacity is large, be sure to turn off the device when not in use. Otherwise the device will still be drawing some amount of current in the standby mode. Once the battery is low, you need to reset the device with the stylus.
In all, this is a handy gadget for driving.
Great GPS with entry-level price.......2007-08-19
This is the first GPS I've owned, but it's great. I live in a rural area and even small local spots are included in the over 12 million POIs. I have used the Navfly for the last three days (even on trips that I know the route) to test the accuracy and recalculation. Both are spot-on. The recalculation when I choose to take a different turn or miss the turn requested is fast.
There are a lot of preference changes that you can make from voice/language to how far in advance you want to be warned about your next move/turn to what units you want used (miles or km and meters, yards or feet).
There are also several view options which is nice because most of will like different things. There is night view which changes the colors to be less distracting and still clear at night.
Unit and holder are highly portable which is nice since I switch between multiple vehicles.
Long battery life. Only about 1/3 of the battery was run down during an approximately 8-hour road trip. Easily and quickly recharges with enclosed car charger, wall charger and USB charger.
Easy to use. Learned most features (and all basic features) in minutes without referring to manual [...].
Also, has pedestrian mode and a ton of other choices including avoidance (of specific roads, tolls, ferries, etc.), speed warnings, and more.
Overall, I am very happy that I didn't spend a hundred dollars more (or even more than that) as I have everything I need and more in this unit.
