Add-ons prohibitively expensive.......2007-10-08
Not only are these GPS unit expensive but adding a data card and additional software is really expensive. A person is able to buy a pretty slick computer for what these units and software total.
good spectative.......2007-09-10
I haven't use this product yet, but it seens to be helpfull for point the fix i need at sea. I'll coment again, when a first use this.
Accessories Sold Extra.......2007-07-04
Plan on spending a couple hundred extra bucks to make this unit worthwhile. The screen has good resolution, but is smaller than the Lowrance 600c (which has everything you need in the box). Without the $250 car kit, it's pretty useless on the highway. It's got a lot of capability, however, it's not very intuitive, which makes it difficult to get up and running. The included maps are pretty thin -- so plan on spending a couple hundred more bucks, then you have to deal with getting them unlocked. I sent mine back and bought a Lowrance 600c. I just wasn't happy with the 276 and didn't want to pony up another $400-$500 to make it useful. They don't even include the plastic screencover.
Good but not Quite what I expected.......2007-05-19
Without having seen one of these 'in person', I was surprised at how small the screen is. Also surprised that even though the device defaults to 'marine mode' (which is what we purchased it for), we had to spend another $150 on a data chip to see anything remotely 'marine'.
This should have a better description - not the fault of Amazon, though. I looked at various places to purchase and none were clear on these items.
Excelent equipment.......2007-05-16
This GPS covered my expectations and much much more.
It has two modes of operation (Car or Boat) and with
the optional memory module, can load maps and
POIs for a maximum experience
Product Description

This color plotter offers satellite weather capability along with both marine and land navigation modes in one space-saving package. You can even pair it with the GSD 20 remote sounder module to add sonar capability, or customize map data for your adventures on land or sea with optional MapSource cartography.

Garmin 376C.......2007-10-10
Good product, but the required maps should be sold with the hardware. Buyres may be misled on the real cost of the product without the map software and unlock codes. The fact that you need to purchase seperate map softwrae to get the unlock code to use the product is frustrating. City Navigator Map software is expensive and it contains strange anomolies in some regions of the maps. The ability to plan your route on your computer and download routes is a real plus for this GPS Unit. The integration of XM radio and Weather maps is a useful feature. Integration of XM raido eliminates the need for separate XM hardware. The Weather Map feature is interesting however too expensive to subscribe to unless you use it on a daily basis. As a hobby product it is too costly to subscribe to the weather feature.

Games are now playable at full detail.......2007-11-22
My son's Age of Empires III, Empire Earth II, Sid Meier's Pirates, Star Wars Empire at War PC games now play great on his older Compaq Presario SR1550NX (2gb RAM) with this 256mb AGP video card. He uses full detail on his games. If this is your first graphics card upgrade, be prepared for fan noise from the video card's fan.
Not so fast..........2007-07-14
There are some great reviews for this card here but beware not everyone may have the same experience. I bought this card as a final upgrade for my aging AGP motherboard. I use it for flight simulation and online ATC activities. These type environments tend to push the envelope a bit further than first person shooters.
Overall the card DOES improve the performance and graphics, no argument there, but...
The video driver released for this card was causing problems with the display of the flight simulator cockpit right out of the box. It took nVidia over 6 months to release a driver update that "patched" the problem but the driver is still having issues. Even though that problem has been squelched there are issues with "white outs" depending on the weather conditions simulated in the game. On another program used for online ATC simulation the program would crash randomly to the desktop when loading the radar (an error would popup related to the video).
Other games I played worked with little problem. So if you just want to enjoy a first person shooter than you might get by, but I highly recommend you go with an ATI brand because the technical support at nVidia concerning this problem has been nill to nothing! I always got great technical support from ATI.
All of the above problems disappeared when my older (and trusted) ATI card was reinstalled with the current Catalyst drivers.
I knocked off two stars because of the driver issues and the nVidia technical support issues.
Blue Light Special..........2007-06-22
I upgraded my August 2003 Alienware computer from a 256mB GeForce FX 5900 Ultra to this card based upon more than one recommendation that this was the fastests AGP card made. Even though though this means that the technology is still old in terms of currently available products. Once the PCI-e standard became established, and eventually SLI technology became the mainstay, AGP products quickly became the dinosaurs of PC technology. While I still feel there is still some get and and go in my old mule of a PC, this change of video standards made my PC virtually obsolete. There is little chance I can get a lot more use out of it, when this is the last stop on the upgrade trail.
Still, I am surprised at the level of improvement. I have noticed some lag time when rendering scenes with a lot of depth (while panning the camera), but nothing that seems to be directly tied to performance. It is much improved. I got this based on someone else's recommendation about its performance with Neverwinter Nights 2. I found the performance to be pretty decent, and a HUGE improvement over my previous card. I was still somewhat surprised that this game didn't run better, but it is infamous for having steep system requirements. Jade Empire, however, ran perfect, and technically, it has the SAME system requirements.
I have seen recommendations as to upgrading RAM, but I have not yet done so, since I don't know if there are any special requirements for the latest RAM to function properly on my 2004 board. I just haven't spent that much time on that, hoping that the card would fix all that aills me...
Still, the performance has been good, though not blazing, and the little blue light which comes on while it is running is cool, though I doubt it helps performance any. This is a great deal on a good card, and I would recommend it for any AGP user, with the caveat that this card is far from new technology-wise, and the performance may not be enough to do wonders with the latest games... but it more than enough to get you bye.
Best AGP Card.......2007-05-20
Have it for more than 3 months and it has worked perfectly, great card, the best for AGP!
Great AGP Card.......2007-05-14
This card was very easy to install. It plays all games in high settings. This card is one of the better AGP video cards.

Handles Anything.......2007-10-23
I have had this card for a while now, and I am AMAZED how much this card can take. Not to mention it has the BEST copper heatsink ever on a video card. It runs cool no matter what. This is definitely one of the best, if not the best, video cards on the market today for AGP. The speed and power of this card will have you in awe. For anyone who is trying to squeeze out a couple more years with their older AGP system, look no further than this. And with nVidia's awesome drivers, this card is unstoppable.
Best AGP Card On The Market!.......2007-02-08
For two years, I have been running an X800Xl AGP card in my Dell 8300. While that was a very good 256MB 16 pipeline card, I noticed it was having trouble with new games from 2006 and on. Don't get me wrong, because that is a really good card. After much debate about buying a new compute, I decided to try this card out. It is an amazing improvement over my X800Xl! The 7800GSOC is a 256MB 16pipeline card, that comes over clocked out of the box. It runs stocked at 400/1200MHZ cores. That alone is faster than the X800 which runs 400/950MHZ. Then I read up about a little registry tweak called Coolbits2, and you can over clock the over clocked card up to 480/1400! So what do all these numbers mean? It means you can run Call of Duty2 at 1600x1200 on MAX settings smoothly! I could only run that game at 1200x1000 on medium to high settings. GTR2 I can run at max settings with everything turned on. X800xl could only run the game at 1200x900 on medium to high settings. Finally the biggest system hog of any game I've played by far is FEAR. With the X800 I could only run it at 1200x796 on mostly high setting. With the 7800GS I can run it at 1600x1200 on high settings with a couple things turned down. While the X800 is a good card, it is no match for the 7800GSOC! The card requires a power source, and it comes with the cable and adapters. Installation was easy and I had my system running in about 15 minutes. I haven't had any issues so far, and I'm very happy with the card. I'm not a real techno guy, so I hope my review has made it easy to see that this card can run today's most demanding games smoothly.

Very Good AGP Graphic Solution.......2007-08-21
This a great AGP card. However, prcing over $250.00 is a little excess for profit. You can go to the BFG website and obtain this board for $249.00 + shipping. Look for better values on the internet.
