Amazon.com Product Description
The Tom Tom iPod Connect Cable and Audio Cable lets you enjoy easy, safe in-car entertainment by controlling your iPod via your Tom Tom GO's screen. Just plug in the iPod cable and connect the audio cable to the car stereo, and you can instantly brighten up your journey with your favorite songs and playlists in safety.
The iPod Connect Cable is designed to link an iPod to your compatible Tom Tom GO models. This unit has a 2.5-millimeter stereo-style connector on one end, and an iPod connector on the other, and is 200 centimeters in total length. This cable allows you to control your iPod via your GO touch-screen, so you can play all mp3s from your iPod and from your GO through the GO speaker. During spoken instructions and use of hands-free calling on your compatible GO, the music will automatically pause, and then start again once the call has ended.
The audio cable included in this set is a standard line-out audio cable for linking your Tom Tom GO to your car stereo. This unit has a 3.5-millimeter stereo-style connector on each end, and is 200 centimeters in total length. This cable allows you to play mp3s from your GO through your car's speakers, as well as receive spoken instructions through the car speakers. During spoken instructions and use of hands-free calling on your GO, the music will automatically pause and then start again once the call has ended.
When used in combination, these two cables let you not only control your iPod from your Tom Tom GO, but play all of your favorite music from both units through your car's speaker in an easy, plug-and-play fashion. The system lets you operate all the necessary iPod functions, such as: play, pause, fastforward, rewind, next song, previous song, shuffle, select and browse, as well as viewing the current: playlist, composer, artist, album, genre, song, and audio books. The system is compatible with iPod mini, iPod photo, iPod nano, iPod video, iPod 3rd generation and iPod 4th generation iPod products, as well as the GO 510, GO 710 and GO 910 Tom Tom products.
User's should note that the audio cable is already included in the GO 910 box as a standard, and that the iPod Connect Cable cannot be used at the same time as the Tom Tom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver, which uses the same connector. Also make sure before purchasing this product that your car stereo has a 3.5-millimeter audio jack in order to connect via the audio cable.

Great Add-On.......2007-12-27
I am not sure why so many other people had issues with this device. If you use it correctly and are using a tomtom 720 or higher there is no background noise and it even works with my iphone. I am glad I do not have to touch my phone while driving ever again.
Nice Product.......2007-12-15
I bought this cable to use with my brand new TomTom 720 and it works great with my iPod video 30GB. The on screen touch controls are very convenient and accessible and I can easily control my iPod safely while driving. Very handy. I love TomTom !
Works as claimed, just about.......2007-11-23
Now I'm going to sit on the fence a little bit here. I bought a TomTom GO 910 a few months ago and bought the iPod cable at the same time. I also wanted to use the TomTom as a hands free kit for my phone, via Bluetooth.
Issue number one is cables! If you're using all of this then you will have four cables trailing over your car dashboard: TomTom power, external mic, iPod cable, cable to car stereo aux input. You can reduce this cable count by one if you have a car stereo that supports Bluetooth (I don't so have not tried this).
I paid to have all of my cables routed behind the car dashboard. They come out in a neat little cluster by the corner of my windscreen. The iPod connector comes out in the glove compartment (the cable is plenty long enough).
So, functionality:
No iPod charging! This is a pretty serious omission, especially for long journeys.
The on-screen iPod controls are OK, but not excellent. Relatively responsive, but clunky compared to the iPod itself (not entirely surprising).
There is no support for compilations, so the artist list contains artists who only feature on a compilation album. This is a bit annoying, but not the end of the world.
No support for album art.
It takes a few seconds to transfer the song list to the TomTom. I have about 4000 songs on my iPod, transfer takes 2-3 seconds.
Annoyingly the TomTom volume control changes the volume of the directions voice and the iPod. It would be better to have two volume controls, or to just have the iPod audio level fixed.
When the TomTom has something to say, the iPod is paused. This is useful, but it would be nicer if there was an option to just lower the iPod volume.
And quality:
There is definitely noise on the line. It's not noticeable when driving and listening to music, but when stopped in traffic listening to an audio book you can hear the noise.
There are some bugs in the system. Occasionally the TomTom loses contact with the iPod and I have to unplug/replug it. Also sometimes after I've been playing music the TomTom will go silent (no more talking) until I power off/on.
Overall I'm happy with the product as it means I can listen to anything from my iPod when I'm driving, and cost less than getting a new car stereo with iPod support, but it could certainly do with some improvements.
Completely worthless.......2007-08-30
This is a useless addition to your TomTom. I also bought an FM Transmitter along with this cable so I could listen to my iPod on my car speakers. This cable DOES NOT WORK! As soon as the iPod is connected to the regular mount, the Bluetooth functionality stops working. You can make and receive calls, but you can't hear anything! Totally breaks Bluetooth once it's connected. When connected to the FM Transmitter, it's even worse. Instead of outputting sound to the FM channel, it outputs it back to the internal TomTom speakers. I bought my TomTom Go 510 because I wanted both a GPS and a way to listen to my iPod on my car speakers. After wasting 2 months with TomTom customer support, I was told the following:
"I've tested your scenario with your device and with our in-house devices. It appears to simply be a limitation of the TomTom product. Unfortunately, I do not have a fix for you.
I've notified product management of the issue, however, there probably won't be a fix for the 510/910 models, as they are no longer being manufactured. Any fix would most likely be implemented with future products only."
And after mentioning the fact that their product page for the FM Transmitter explicitly states it will work for the 510, I received the following response:
"That is, perhaps, a misnomer. I will forward this information on to our Product Management team for research. However, it simply doesn't function the way it was stated on the website."
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ITEM!!!!

Category 2 High Speed HDMI 1.3a cable, what more can I say?.......2007-06-27
This cable, while cheaply manufactured, meets HDMI standard 1.3a, and is Category 2 which means it can broadcast a 1080p picture. Anything less than this has no guarantee. It DOES make a difference in some circumstances. I got an uncertified HDMI cable only to find partial failure with sparkly out of sync picture, and occassional total failure with no picture at all. That is just unacceptible when you pay what you pay for High Def cable. Then I got this cable, and it resolved all my issues. And it didn't cost an arm and a leg like cables made by those fancy companies. It is cheap, but does the job. Gotta love it.

Very nice system, but range is limited.......2008-01-01
Other than a range limit of about 70 ft., this is a very nice unit and has worked well in our home. A boost antenna for the base unit would be a great addition.
Less Noise.......2007-12-31
I purchased this phone set to replace a 9 gigahertz set that wouldn't reach from one end of the house to the other without excessive noise. I also liked the capability of the Panasonic Dict 6.0 to use two handsets for the same call at the same time. The Dict 6.0 promises less interference and noise. It does a much better job than the old phone, but I still have some noise problems. Still, I am satisfied overall with this purchase.
Great cordless phone (even though the buttons aren't lit).......2007-12-31
I've had this phone for about a month now and I'm really pleased. I've tried out approximately a dozen different cordless phones over the past year and was unhappy with something important (poor sound quality or horrible battery life - a couple of them had well under an hour of talk time) about every single one. This one, as many other reviewers have noted, has the following wonderful characteristics:
1. Great battery life
2. Good sound quality on both ends, even with the speakerphone
3. No interference with wi-fi - with my old cordless (2.4), my wireless signal was poor unless I was in the same room with the router. With this phone, the wireless signal is strong all over the house...kind of like you'd expect, right?
4. Perhaps all newer phones have this feature, but my old one didn't - you can dial the regular way (press Talk for a dial tone, then dial) or you can dial the cell phone way (dial the number - see it on the display so you know it's right - and then press Talk).
I've not tried the answering machine function yet, but the phone works well with the voice mail service from my phone carrier - a light blinks on the phone to let me know I've got a message.
Cons - the list is short and I suppose I would've deducted half a star if I could have:
1. The menus are not the simplest things to use, but you get used to them. Not a big problem for the commonly used functions.
2. I do wish the buttons were lighted.
One other random comment: I've used other Panasonic phones over the years (my brother had several) and was never very fond of them. IIRC, I thought they sounded sort of funny. This one's just fine.
Overall, I'm very happy with the phone and I hope it lasts a good, long time so I don't have to go through the shopping process again for awhile.
They don't make them like they used to.......2007-12-31
If you are looking for a cordless phone that is easy to navigate and setup, isn't "too" small so it's easy to cradle and dial one-handed, has good sound on both the receiver and answering machine, this is the phone for you.
If you are looking for a cordless phone that has any kind of range, look elsewhere. I thought I remember reading some reviews where they said the range got better the more you used it and recharged this phone..... I can't get it to pick up when I'm outside unless I'm on the same side of the building the base is on. And my old Radio Shack cheapo has this one beat hands down in that dept.
I have tried different makes, digital vs analog, different frequencies and have come to the conclusion that they just don't have the same range that they used to. I like that it comes with beltclips, though.... all cordless phones should IMO.
Nice phone system with some great features!!!.......2007-12-29
This phone system works great!! Contrary to some reviews, I have no problem with range. The sound quality is leaps and bounds above 2.4ghz systems. My only complaint is that the intercom system requires you to know which handset you're calling. Other than that its a great phone system and the price is reasonable for what you get.
