Panasonic KX-TC1743B digital cordless telephone operates on the 900MHz frequency for extended range and clarity and more secure conversations. The fact that this model is digital, helps to secure phone calls from potential eavesdropping. This phone is also Caller ID compatible. When used in conjunction with Call Waiting Caller ID, the Call Waiting Caller ID feature will display the caller's information on the multifunction, backlit, three-line LCD display located on the handset - even if the user is currently on another call when the second call comes in. A Caller ID memory with dialer for later review and instant callback capability of received calls is also viewable via the handset display. A Direct Dialer button provides "one-touch" access to an emergency or often-used phone number.A Digital Duplex Speakerphone - the tool for multiple party conversations - is included in KX-TC1743B. Digital circuitry helps reduce the echo and dropout commonly found in speakerphones and allows more natural sounding conversations. These models also allow users to administer outgoing and incoming messages remotely from any telephone with voice prompts to aid the process. Each message is affixed with a time/day stamp, so you'll always know when the call was received. The phone has New Message Playback for listening to newly received calls and a two-digit LCD call counter for viewing the number of calls received. Other features include a lighted handset keypad, dual keypads, and two-way paging/auto intercom for communication between the base and the handset. I've owned this workhorse for over 5yrs. Though I've put it the closet twice when I got "better" phones I keep coming back to this baby. It really stands up to some rough handling and it's very easy to use.

Features wise this phone is OK, but it broke within one year after purchase day.
The volume in the headset became so low, that you can only hear it in the very quite room, even on the loudest mode.
The phone shuts itself down every one or two week and you have to unplug it from the power outlet for about 10 min and then plug it back, so it's start working again.
The speakerphone microphone is not sensitive enough, you can only use it within 2 feet from the base, otherwise other party will not hear you.
The buttons on the headset very hard and sometime is impossible to press.
My friend also bought Panasonic phone (different model), guess what, it broke within one year too.
I have Panasonic TV, DVD player and microwave oven and they work just fine for a few years now. Based on my personal experience and also reading other people reviews, I think Panasonic has a very big reliability problem with their phones and they should address this issue ASAP.

In reading the reviews I thought I'd add my 2 cents since I've owned this phone for *at least* 5 years now with no problems. I got online to try and help a friend find a new 900 mhz phone so it won't interfere with her wi-fi. I looked up my phone to check the reviews and it sounds like if you get a good one you love it, a bad one it's not so good. My battery so far has been great though I'll probably need a new one pretty soon as the 4+ hr cont. talk time is now down to about 2ish and I can't leave it off the cradle overnight anymore and hold a charge.
However, I wonder if the problems aren't with the battery itself more than the phone. I say this because I also own another Panasonic cordless phone/answering machine and it has many of the same battery issues mentioned here. Overall though I'd say I'd buy this phone again in a heartbeat -- it's easy to use, the speaker on the handset is wonderful, especially when you get stuck on hold, and the range/features make for a very nice package. I've recommended this phone to others who love it as well.

You get what you pay for. I wanted an inexpensive model with Caller ID and voicemail.
Most of the features are just fine. However, the handset is way too quiet and the battery life is just horrible. It would not let you talk for more than 40 minutes - needs recharging.
(I owe that model for over a year.)

Does not keep time.......2007-03-25
While this clock radio is a nice size and the sound seems to be reasonable (given the price, etc.), ours does not keep time. It gains about 1 minute a day. I never expected to have issues with a digital clock keeping time. Its currently about 25 minutes off, and I'm just going to let it catch up to daylight savings time on its own. I was sucked in by the low price, but wish I'd spent more to get something that works.
A GREAT CD player/alarm clock!.......2006-11-10
I bought this for my husband for our anniversary. He had an old alarm clock that was hard to set. This one is great. Simple to use, to set, to play, everything is marked very clearly. I get up half an hour earlier than he does, so it is fantastic to have a dual alarm. We wake up to a CD. It also sounds great! We can listen to our CD's without having an extra CD player taking up room. I have had no problems with it at all!!

The sound is just terrible and when I turn the sound up/down, I frequently have change the station to get it tuned properly.
And the cd worked at first; now it doesn't. (the sound isn't that great, either).
A total waste of money. I should use my stereo or television to wake me up.

Well the radio worked fine, and the clock seemed to work. The Cd player would not work at all. Yea I set the alarm to wake up to a cd and the alarm turned the radio on but the cd never played. And no it wasn't a burned cd. It was an original.
No headphone jack.......2006-05-04
I've been looking for an inexpensive cd clock radio with a headphone jack and thought I had found one. I was very disappointed when I opened the box and could not find the headphone jack anywhere. There was no headphone jack shown on the owner's manual included in the box. The box stated a headphone jack but there is no jack on this unit. I returned this to Amazon and ordered the Phillips AJ3950. If you're looking for a cd clock radio to use headphones with, I wouldn't purchase this Coby model. I liked the design but without a headphone jack I cannot use it.
