The KX-TG2770S from Panasonic is an expandable phone system that features both a corded base unit as well as an additional cordless phone and cradle. Up to seven additional handsets can be added to the system (for a total of eight) for conferencing purposes or simple convenience, while a privacy setting lets you determine if others are allowed to join in to the conversation.
By utilizing the 2.4 GHz frequency and digital spread spectrum technology, the KX-TG2770S offers clear, intelligible reception even at a distance. The fully digital answering machine has a 15-minute maximum record time with a selectable one or three-minute maximum message length, while up to three mailboxes are provided to help organize messages. A 50-number speed dial memory makes dialing the most frequently called number a snap, while the caller ID memory provides a record of the 50 most recent incoming calls.
The Ni-CD battery provides up to 4.5 hours of talk time, and up to 11 days of standby, while an intercom function allows users to communicate with others in the home or office. A low-battery indicator lets you know when to return the handset to its cradle, while the page function makes finding a lost handset quick and painless.
The KX-TG2770S is headset compatible and comes with a speakerphone button on both the base and handset, providing hands-free operation and saving your neck from the strain of cradling the phone. The KX-TG2770S also comes backed with a one-year parts and labor warranty.

A Good Phone.......2007-03-28
I have had my phone for more than two years now, and it has served me well. The only thing I find annoying about the phone is trying to remember how to have the base page the cordless. All of the other features are easy to figure out how to use. It is not a simple phone so if you want a phone with plenty of features, this one is for you.
Not so great battery .......2005-12-06
I bought this phone based on consumer report reviews and the corded phone works great but the battery in the cordless phone is terrible. The battery dies after 1 hour of conference call. Then it would take at least 8 hours to recharge again.
I would not recommend this phone especially for business use.
KX-TG and KX-TC lines are defective! Read on..........2005-11-18
I purchased the base unit (which includes one handset) and two additional handsets. They worked okay for about a month or so, then the handset started inexplicably dying. Sometimes the screen went totally blank and you would lose the call or couldn't dial. Othertimes the screen said that I was too far away from the base (even when I was literally right next to the base). So I called customer service and they said that it sounded like I needed a new battery (after a MONTH!). I actually read the directions before using the phone and I wasn't even putting the phones on the bases to recharge after every call so that the NI CD batteries wouldn't develop a memory (they don't use the better Lithium Ion batteries that do not develop a memory). So this made no sense. Anyway, I went ahead and bought the batteries (for all three handsets) and that didn't solve the problem at all. I then went ahead and purchased another handset. Again, no problems for a month and then the same issue. Customer service issued remanufactured phones (4 handsets) and in about a month to 8 weeks all were exactly the same.
I know I wasn't doing anything wrong to cause this. I began searching the Internet and low and behold I am not alone. Apparently a law firm in New Jersey has already filed a class action law suit against Panasonic for the entire KX-TG and KX-TC cordless phone lines. Search "panasonic cordless phone class action" on google. It will be the first hit. As an attorney myself (not in any way affiliated with or even previously aware of the firm that has filed the suit), I can tell you it takes a lot of consumer complaints before a law firm decides to invest its resources in a class action suit as they are very expensive and time consuming.
So, I've learned my lesson the hard way (although there wasn't anything I could've done differently at the time of purchase). Hopefully, my experience and research into this can prevent you from having to deal with it in the future. Panasonic was unjustly enriched in distributing such a defective product and not having the corporate decency to at least recall it and replace it with a functioning line or refunding our hard earned dollars. Very disappointing and I certainly will not be purchasing the Panasonic brand again.
Panasonic KX-TG2770.......2005-11-17
Have had total of 3 systems. Generally work well. The WORST part is the OEM NICAD battery. It is HORRIBLE. Buy the Energizer NIMH replacement on e-bay. It is MUCH better battery.
After a year, two batteries expired and 1 dead display.......2005-11-03
I've had this for a year and after very light use, both handset batteries can't hold a charge and one of the cordless handset displays is dead. I've had a number of Panasonic phones, and this was a real disappointment.
The handset batteries are famous for lousy performance - get the Energizer replacement P511 battery right away. The poor performance starts fairly quickly, so save yourself from lost calls.
Another unexplainable thing - only 2 of the 3 mailboxes can be protected with a password, the primary one (#1) cannot.
All-in-all, a feature-laden mediocre to low quality phone.
Amazon.com Product Description
Ideal for people who like the reliability of a corded phone and the flexibility of a cordless handset, the remanufactured Panasonic KX-TG2770S combines the best of both worlds. The expandable system, which can accommodate up to eight cordless handsets, is centered around a base unit with a traditional corded receiver. Home-based business owners can locate the base unit at their desk, while homeowners can simply place it in the most convenient room (such as the kitchen). In addition, the phone comes with a single charging cradle and cordless handset, which work through the same phone line and jack. The cordless handset lets users wander around the home or office without dealing with crisscrossing wires or multiple phone jacks, and each additional handset purchase further boosts the system's flexibility.
When combined with other cordless handsets, the phone system offers a variety of complementary features, such as a home-wide intercom--perfect for calling the family together for dinner--a privacy mode that blocks other handsets from joining the conversation, and call conferencing with outside lines and several handsets at once.
To ensure a nearly interference-free connection, the system employs 2.4 GHz digital spread spectrum technology, which eliminates the hiss and fuzziness suffered by most analog signals. Reception is further improved by Panasonic's Voice Enhancer circuitry, which helps clarify and improve reception by producing an easy-to-hear, natural-sounding voice, making the handsets sound crisp and intelligible even at a distance from the base. In addition, users needn't worry about cross-talk or eavesdropping through the handsets, as the 89-channel autoscan instinctively searches for the frequency with the least interference.
Thanks to the phone's call waiting/caller ID compatibility--which requires a subscription to a fee-based phone company service--and caller ID memory, you'll know the name and number of the last 50 callers, even if you're currently talking to someone else. The included handset's four-line, multifunction LCD, meanwhile, lets you see all caller ID information without scrolling, while the backlighting aids visibility in low-light situations. Another nice bonus stems from the 50-number speed dial, which lets you stay in quick contact with your favorite friends, family members, or pizza joints. The speed dial directory can be shared among all the handsets in the system.
The all-digital answering machine, meanwhile, offers a 15-minute maximum recording time and can be operated remotely, allowing you to stay on top of your incoming messages even while you're away from home. An LCD call counter lets you know how many messages you have waiting, and a time/date stamp tells you when each message was received. Additionally, all messages are stored in flash memory, so if you ever experience a power outage, your messages will be there when you get back up and running.
Finally, the KX-TG2770S offers both handset and base speakerphones and is headset compatible (sold separately) to ensure several hands-free communication methods. Other features include a page function that helps find misplaced handsets, an illuminated keypad for dialing in the dark, and personalized ring tones.
The base unit, which is wall-mountable, measures 9.84 by 3.66 by 7.62 inches (W x H x D), while the handset checks in at 2.09 by 9.53 by 1.56 inches. The bundle is backed by a 90-day warranty.

Great Telephone.......2007-03-05
I've had this phone for more that three years and I find it to be the best telephone purchase I've ever made. The sound is crystal clear and I have never experienced a dropped call. I like the fact that the handsets are capable of nearly all of the functions as the base set. The only regret I have is that it only stores 50 numbers. I have purchased two additional handsets and I've only replaced the batteries on two of them. I think that is pretty good use for a system I've had more than three years. Great buy.
hard to beat phones.......2006-10-16
We purchased this system 3 years ago and have had great luck with it. We have 3 cordless handsets also and we are very satisfied with all of them. We have never found a reason to buy any larger GHz systems. We use the phones throughout our 4000 sq. ft. home. This system is a keeper for us.
Corded phone great, but cordless.....STINKS!!!!!.......2005-12-19
I purchased this phone with the accessory handsets--three of them to be exact and I've had the same problem with all of the handsets...none of them can retain a charge. One phone will hold for about 10 minutes and the other phones will die after only 2 minutes of use! Of course, this happened after the approved return period, so now I am stuck with these phones that do not work.
Do not buy this phone under any circumstances. If it was just one of the cordless phones, I would have thought it was just a defective battery, but all three of the cordless phones are having the same problem which makes me think that it's a manufacturing problem.
The corded telephone with the answering machine work great, but if you are in the market for an expandable system, then this is not the phone system for you.

simply terrible.......2007-10-20
I purchased this about a month ago and I have to say that I was very disappointed with it. First off the flashlight is enormous! Also, it's not very bright at all. When I received it there was a slight charge so I used it until it died and then cranked it up and it lasted for about 2 weeks on the one charge. When it died I cranked it again and it lasted for about 2 days. After that It would give me about 10 seconds of light and then I'd have to crank it for another 2 minutes to get 10 more seconds. Even though it was only 10 bucks I don't think it was worth it. After this crapped out on me I bought a mini flashlight from LL Bean that ran on one double A and it gives me about 50 hours of light on one battery. Plus it is much brighter. Even though I have to replace the battery once a month it's worth it.
Failed when needed.......2007-08-27
It seemed like a great item. When the power went out, it was charged and worked great. It lasted about 3 hours with one LED. I cranked to charge it and after about two minutes of cranking, it started cranking real easy. Wouldn't charge the battery. I've had it for a a little over a year. Surprise.... there was no warranty info with it. I took it apart and checked everything - it was the dynamo, the commutator brushes broke off inside. Good Idea, but didn't last too long. I paid $29.95 for it and am shopping for a better one..
Wind-up flashlight.......2007-05-14
A great idea! Works well! A few winds and you have light! No hunting for batteries.
Product arrived quickly, in good shape.
Self-powered flashlight.......2007-05-11
This is a great flashlight for camping, or put one into your car, it doesn't need the batteries, and no bulbs to warry about, that means you don't have a battery to waste, this helps environmentally, and it can be fun to dermonstate it to your child how things work. Great product.
I love that you don't need batteries! light strength not really bright though........2007-04-10
I think this flashlight is worth every penny, but before you buy keep in mind the light is provided by one or three LEDs (two settings) directed by some reflective mirrors. It will not be as bright as a standard flash light but works very well for my purposes. You simply crank the handle around and you have light. I like the sustainability aspect of it. Although I am expecting the battery life to fade over time so far I only use it for short spurts of only a few minutes at a time.
