Good features at a bargain price........2007-10-13

I have used this unit for over five months now with no problems.
The display is adequate and the navigation and use of features is pretty staight forward. I have no complaint with the sound; there are several preset equalizer selections.
It has a FM radio tuner, which is a nice plus - although as you might suspect the reception is only fair and requires a strong signal. You can also record FM programming.
The 791 also has a built in microphone and does a reasonable job of voice recording. The SD slot brings storage capacity up to 4GB.
Relative to any comparable product you get more than you pay for. Buy one.

Why such a low sales ranking ???.......2007-07-15

This telephone by Radio Shack worked better than other, much fancier phones, including two expensive cordless phones with extra handsets, when I had to get a new phone for my new home. The construction of this telephone reflects great engineering; and it's very, very reliable for a price that's very inexpensive these days for a phone. Yes, it is corded; but wow--you will find this phone to be an inexpensive favorite in your household anyway when all you really need is a basic phone.

The phone, as you can see in the picture above, has big number buttons which are highly desirable for those of us who are elderly or in any way sight impaired. Love it! The phone also has buttons for mute, call waiting, 3-way calling and even "last number redial." I use the call waiting and last number redial features often and these functions never disappoint me. It also has a knob that lets you switch between touch tone and pulse dialing. I use touch tone dialing as most people do. Moreover, the phone even gives you a mute button--you can still hear the other person (or people) on the other end of the line but they can't hear you or anyone else on your end of the line.

Need to take a nap and don't want the phone to wake you up? Just turn the ringer off by using the knob at the base of the phone--no more interrupted naps from this phone! The adjustable call volume gives you another terrific feature.

I highly recommend this telephone for people who like big button numbers for convenience or any other reason; and the extra features give you all you truly need to make this a remarkably well constructed telephone at a ridiculously inexpensive price. The phone takes up little space and it can even be wall mounted to completely save counter space in a kitchen or any other room.

How's about a hand for this one great phone!

Great features and great price........2007-12-28

I previously owned a set of Panasonic 2 handset phones and these weren't compatible with the same chargers, so these were relegated as my second set.

However, I've found them extremely easy to use.

The one downside was that the belt clips weren't included, unlike my other set, so I cannot keep it with me as easily.

Otherwise an excellent phone with Caller ID on the handset. And a wonderful price too!
