Lasted only 1 month and then just quit working. Handset no longer would communicate to the base. Don't buy. Get something reliable.

What a piece of junk. Whenever someone calls me, I have to tell them to speak up. It's embarrassing when you get important calls and you can't hear anything the other person is saying. If there is one redeeming quality about this phone, it is that it is likely to burn out within a couple months. Then, you can buy a phone that actually works.

Get what you pay for.......2007-04-20

This phone is not as bad as I originally thought. If you get it for nothing, as I did, or pay a couple of bucks for it, the 150 minutes of free long distance alone make it worth getting. I would up my rating to three stars, based on value for money (it's worth, say, $15 or so for the minutes and hardware), but apparently Amazon doesn't allow changing the star rating. What is my rating based on? 1) When I first tried it there was a lot of hiss on the line, but the noise disappears once a connnection is made. 2) The ring tone can be changed, but the volume can't be adjusted. The ringer can, however, be turned off. 3) Every time you push a button it makes a loud beep. This cannot be turned off or adjusted. 4) The phone and base are cheap light-weight plastic--it's not going to last long. 5) The battery compartment is poorly designed. There's nowhere for the battery wire to go--you have to really jam it in to get the compartment cover to slide into place. 6) No ringer in the base. 7) The volume for the receiving party is super loud and cannot be adjusted, but this can be an advantage when communicating with the hard of hearing (I mean the aurally handicapped, like my Pop). All in all, if your expectations are not too high and you don't pay too much, this phone is okay.

Decent for an old school phone.......2007-04-06

We never owned a land line before, but then we switched to DSL so we were required to purchase a land line phone. I got this phone for free after rebate, and it's somewhat small for a cordless phone, although I've seen smaller. It comes with Pay 'N Talk, a service where you can prepay your long distance service over the phone...I think this is pretty old school too. There isn't much need to pay for long distance service anymore, cause you might as well just get a nationwide cell phone. Anyway, I guess I'm just biased against land line phones because I don't like having to press an "on" or "talk" button, and I think dial tones are annoying. But, none of that really matters in this phone review! So, if you can get this phone for a cheap price then do it! It has standard features & a belt clip so you can wear it around the house. The included 150 minute phone card would probably make it worth it.

I got this phone for about $7.50 shipped. It has all the features one would want in a cordless cellphone. Caller ID included. Great values for the price.

We got the phone for my five and a half year old daughter as her first phone. It is adorable and works very well. She loves it. The only negative is that I do wish the phone was cordless. Otherwise, it is great!

Phon is great & I my daughter loves it but the song that plays sounds like there is a swear word in it. I know they are saying "Rockin" in one of the lines as the word but sure does not sound like it.
