I was so hoping this product would live up to the description. On paper, this product looks awesome, but I was let down and disappointed when I received it. It was that disappointment you felt when Dad missed your 1st little league game. This product is NOT worth $219.99. It is NOT a good product. While the product design/concept idea is great, the quality/craftsmanship is horrible. This is my first MP3 player and I was looking for something that had it all and was reasonably priced (I got mine on sale for $99.99). I will list the pros and cons below.
PRO:
1) Has a built in USB connector (Player is designed like a beefed up Thumb drive with display)
2) Easy to learn graphic interface (I didnt need to read the manual, its that easy)
3) At 1GB, has lots of storage space
4) Drag and drop capability (You can use it to store anything)
5) You can delete files from the player
6) Multiple repeat/random configurations
7) You can increase/decrease the tempo of songs
8) Extras like FM tuner and voice recorder
You would think with all those PROs its a good deal; However, the CONs clearly show cheap construction.
CON:
1) Poor materials used for housing (Im afraid of breaking it. Cheap plastic used. Item is made in China. Trim is painted in that fake chrome paint that flakes off given time)
2) USB cover cap falls off (Does not snap into place and if shook, the cap falls off. You could loose the cap and not even know it)
3) Battery consumption horrible (They claim 12 hours on 1 AAA, when I only get 2 hours if I am lucky)
4) Battery cover loose (Comes off too easily)
5) Shuts off for no apparent reason (While there is a sleep timer, I made sure this function was turned off and it still does it)
6) Cheap headphones
7) Arm band is universal/not designed for player (While exercising, player tends to shimmy out of sleeve)
8) Arm band water permeable (Sweat soaks through arm band and gets player wet)
In short, there are a lot of great features and has the potential to be great MP3 player, but until Visual Land uses better quality materials and work the bugs out...Unfortunately I rate the player as a piece of Junk. Go with the well known companies instead.

As for the vcr, I noticed zero difference. Tapes just suck on a projection TV no matter what.
I use this cable for a portable sony dvd player (which has no component outs)-the result was awesome. I also have the double shielded svideo cable, but it doesn't compare to the ultra high res. svideo. I almost prefer this to the similiar "Z series" component cables.

Cables are important.......2007-09-20
I've known cables are very important when it comes to higher quality video and audio signals for a couple years now- I am referring to component video and fiber optic audio. I had not realized that S-Video could actually see such an improvement as this cable brought. I mean, S-Video simply has 2 channels- white and black and they get transferred over a single, non-divided cable.
Usually, Monster's cables sound good but ridiculous- gas injected, mesh this and that, so on and so forth. Well, this cable is great- compared to the free S-Video cable I got with the video card in my PC (I have a home theater pc/HTPC) which was hooked up to my tv. The free cable had no shielding which was why I replaced it to begin with- the electromagnetic interference causing waves in the video picture was irritating.
Fast forward, I use this monster cable and have no more issues with interference and my video quality of cable tv recordings looks like a DVD, in terms of brightness and color contrast. No doubt my cable tv signal booster (amplifier) plays a part in this as well. Something I would recommend for anyone: this cable and a booster.

Great performing scanner.......2007-12-05
As an Amateur Radio Operator, I own and have owned many scanners. This is one of my keepers. It outperforms almost all of my other radios. It does not have all the features of radios costing more, such as text tagging and digital capabilities, but what it can do, it does very well. At its current sub-$175 price, it's a bargain. This radio has been out for awhile now, and a firmware update has corrected the issues that the radio originally had with DCS/CTCSS decoding.

Out of the box the scanner was broken, it would not scan.
I will be looking for another company that makes scanners.

The 500 channels provide more than enough space for even the busiest areas. The CTCSS/DCS feature is great for filtering out the unwanted frequencies. The good part about this feature was that it would scan this as well as the frequency, so even if you know a frequency, you can scan for the tone (which is most always harder to get.)
Too bad that Uniden didn't package the software with the scanner (about $30 from their site). For the price, I would have thought they would have kicked in for the software and the cable (about $4 at most electronic stores.)
Had most all the features I was looking for, and the price wasn't that bad either. I'd recommend this for just about anyone.

All its cracked up to be and then some. Pretty good manual, although I found a programming shortcut using Google. I bought a dipole antenna and it did improve the reception significantly. Weather alert programming is dead easy too.
Yes, I'd buy it again.
Great First Scanner.......2007-02-14
I know that there is only a bad review so I had to write this. This is a great first scanner. It is very sensitive, picks up all calls from across town and does most of what you want. alpha tagging would be great, but you can do that with a software package, no biggie. I got this because I wanted a scanner for home use, not mobile use, I didn't want anything with batteries. This fit the bill. You find out a lot about truncked systems and this thing picks all of them up. Very Highly recommended

If you travel a lot, it's a bargain!.......2006-03-11
I got this radar detector out of an advice from my girlfriend and at first i was kind of dissapointed because i didn't do anything the first couple of days i install it but soon after i was on the road, it beeped when a radar was nearby and in enough time to slow down and avoid a ticket, until now it has saved me a couple of those pesky speeding tickets!, but i must warn you if your consider buying a this particular (or any) radar detector, first, you must be aware of the speeding limit, second, get to know your radar detector and third, don't go over the limit very much because it doesn't have very long range. Anyhow, i recommend it for the frequent road traveler, this machine it pays for it self!. (Note: Radar detectors are ilegal in WA).
