I bought this even with the bad reviews. I have one of it's predecessors, a black one and it worked fantastically for 5 or 6 years. It still does but the on/off button finally died. I figured... how bad could it be? The one I have worked great until now.
It's BAD. It's AWFUL. It's WORTHLESS. I've had to enter the codes for my tv and vcr 3 times today. The batteries are brand new... that's the first thing I tried. DO NOT BUY THIS. I only gave it a 1 because you can't give it a zero.

The remote is otherwise well-designed, but it doesn't work! It loses the codes approximately every other day and you have to keep re-entering them. Get something else.

I am new to two way radios so I thought Motorola well known brand must make a decent radio - I was wrong. They are complete junk. You cannot understand a word from the speakers. The voice activate mode takes 5 seconds to kick in talking loudly (even on most sensitive mode) to kick in. I was 100 yards away from the other user and every other word was cut off. I went an bought midland radios which work perfectly.I later found out that midland does have a good name in the radio world from a friend. Save yourself the hassle and avoid motorola radios.

I purchased these radios about a month ago. They have worked very well. They have more "bells and whistles" than my wife and I really need, but is nice to know what is available should we need it. The instructions to get started were clear and simple. We are very glad we ordered the kit.
Terrible sound quality........2007-09-06
I use two-way radios at work and on weekends and vacations. Until now I've been very happy with many different Motorola and Midland models. The FV-700 has great features but the sound quality is soooo bad it's virtually unusable. Don't make the same mistake I did.
