These walkie's are great esp for the money. We use them like an intercom system because my husband is bed bound and my kitchen is over 60ft away. Plus if I need to go out back for a while he can still reach me. You can not beat these for the price.

I bought these for grandson's birthday (7th). He loved them. All the kids at the party loved them. Big hit. Seemed to work fine for short distance. Didn't have an opportunity to test the 8 mile radius, but for the price I think quite a good deal.

Good and cheap Walkie - Talkie.......2006-06-23

I bought this for a hiking trip planned next month, but got a chance to use it during a unplanned hike last weekend. It was very helpful since we were travelling in two cars and there was no mobile coverage. It worked well most of the time during the hike, where the handsets were at different elevations. But there was some disturbances or no coverage during the car, mainly when there was a mountain in between the cars (and thats why 4 stars). I am not sure if other models with higher range will work across mountains though.

Another problem is with the user manual. For using GMRS channels you have to get FCC permission, but the website mentioned in the manual is outdated. Still I am ssearching for the right URL to the license site.

All in all it was a good purchase though.

Lost one of the radios. It fell down from the hill top during a recent hike. Now left with one radio and looking for an option to buy a replacement for the missing radio (not a pair). But it really helped as long as it was available.

these are good walkie talkies for their price. I use them when i go on ski trips or to an amusement park and they work great.
ihad to get the cheaper ones but if you have the money go for the more expensive ones they get more range. midland is a reputable company and they make solid products.
