Could easily be a great product.......2007-09-23

I wanted headphones that offered good sound quality, but I didn't want to reach the hundreds to do it.
I discovered this pair, and I read some pretty good reviews regarding sound quality from cnet. However, many of those reviews also stated that they had rather poor cable construction. I took my chances and unfortunately it seems to be true.

I bought my first pair (not from this site), and everything was great. The sound blew away any other pair of headphones I had ever had, and the price was great. After four days the left earphones went dead. I returned it, and got a second pair hoping it was just a random defect.
This second pair performed perfectly for two weeks. However, the left earphone slowly went dead. As in, I had to wiggle the cable and stand/sit in the exact right position to make sure that things were making full contact. Four weeks after that no amount of positioning my self awkwardly could fix it.

As far as the whole lanyard ability going on, I never used it but, it seemed to be a relatively sturdy set up.
Also, the cables are not insulated in rubber, instead they are insulated with cloth (at least on the outside). This looks rather interesting, but there are two problems. The white cloth gets dirty, and due to the cloths texture a lot of noise is created if it rubs against your shirt or body.

The cloth would hardly bother me if the headphones just had better cable construction.
If that were the case, these would be a great sounding cheap pair of headphones.

Does not fit 2G Nano!.......2007-07-01

This is a clever product, but be aware that it only fits the first generation Nano. I had to return mine since I have a 2G Nano. Fortunately, Amazon was quick and generous with my refund!

REAL QUALITY & DEPENDABILITY!.......2006-04-05

I got this DRIVE as a birthday present. I had a PLEXTOR installed and had trouble with it from day 1. The software that came with my unit is NERO [NOT the Bs Gold Clip that I read about in another review]. NERO works well with the [CRX230A/U]. I replaced ROXIO's EZ CD Creator software. The NERO takes up much less space [~1/7th] and does equally as well as E-Z CD Creator.

I saved all of the disks that the PLEXTOR showed as defective and let the SONY [CRX230A/U] with the NERO software clean them up. There are 9 of them and they all work fine!

The installation instructions left NOTHING to chance. They couldn't have been more clear. It took less than 2 minutes to install the [CRX230A/U].

This is an excellent choice as a replacement unit. The rating of 5 stars isn't enough for this unit.

Another thing that SONY now does when they supply a drive, is furnish both BLACK & BEIGE faceplates!!!!!

DO NOT INSTALL THE B'S GOLD SOFWARE!.......2004-08-18

Update of previous review:

This drive works FABULOUS as long as you do not ever load the Bs Gold Clip software that comes with it.

TRUST ME the sofware is nothing but problems, endless downloads of patches, failed burns, and on and on and on...just a mess! If you have it installed you can NOT even use the Windows based burning program.

I really thought this drive stunk...HOWEVER once I uninstalled that awful softare and used the Windows XP burning program...PRESTO all the problems disappeared!

Great hardware--stay away from the software! I'd give it 5 stars now...if I could change that part of my review that is.
