This review is not for this new particular model; but is instead a testimonial for Panasonic digital receivers overall. I bought one of the first all digital units Panasonic produced, 4 years ago (SA-XR45). I was at once impressed with the incredible increase in sound quality from my previous Kenwood analog receiver. Going all digital was one of the best things I ever did to upgrade my sound system--from DVD's in surround to CD's over my ancient and wonderful Sansui speakers.

My unit has operated almost daily for 4 years and I have never had the slightest problem. I've had to replace the batteries in the remote only once, and that's it...! Unit never gets hot and like the energizer bunny keeps on going, giving us superlative digital sound around here...

Lately as HDMI gets more and more common, I have recently thought that it might soon be time for a new Panasonic digital receiver. At this point I have the optical digital sound output from my Panasonic plasma TV going to the Panasonic receiver which works great (although this requires hooking the HDMI input directly to the TV, so the Panasonic receiver is no longer used as a video source switcher, something it did very well), so I think I can limp along a little longer with this great and stellar unit...

Right out of the box I was happy. I replaced my Kenwood with the Panasonic and was not dissapointed. My main reason was to have wireless rear surround speakers. I also had to buy the rear surround setup, which I bouight referb'd. Something I can expect to function properly, and I was not dissapointed. They work perfectly. Also, I wanted a receiver that was more with the current technology, again, not dissapointed.
The Pan is not perfect, but for me it fit the bill. Realize, that you are not spending five hundred or more dollars and for the money you spend, what you get.
The quality of the sound from my speakers was far ahead of the Kenwood.
Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, for me I like it!

It has everything I was looking for with a reasonable price. I found it easy to connect and set up. Remote is not perfect, but workable.

I have had this system for only two days now, but I love it. Keep in mind that I am not an "audiofile". This is my first upgrade since the 1980's, so I can't really compare it to anything. I do know that it sounds incredibly good and very powerful. Can't wait to hear it with more expensive speakers and higher quality speaker wires. If you are the type that likes to jump right in without reading the owners manual, at least read page 14 before you try listening to in. That would have saved me some time. The remote is very easy to use. For 300 bucks, you can't go wrong.
