Toshiba Good - Vendor not so good.......2007-12-18

Item was purchases and arrived on time. Unfortunatly two issues accompied the AV receiver. 1. It was the wrong color, 2. It would shut down after playing for a short time, I suspect it was a faulty return.

I called the vendor, 6th Ave and infomed them that I would be returning the item and if they would send me another. They informed simply they were out of stock. No further assistence was offered. A return was made and after a short time a credit was made.

I have purchased another AV receiver, from a different vendor for a couple of dollars more and waiting for its arrival.

I did not have any trouble connecting to my Bose speaker (5.1 Channel). Excellent quality, I replaced my old JVC receiver.

I have spent quite some time looking for a new receiver, but in the end i came back to Yamaha (my old receiver was also a Yamaha but i gave my whole audio setup to my sibling when i was moving).
Sound is just great. When you pair them with good speakers you can start listening to music in a completely new way.
Build quality is outstanding.

What this receiver is "missing" is hdmi connector(s) (switch). However, it can handle your HDTV signals trough component connectors (as it is stated in product description).

This is what i have connected to it:
-2 DVD players (one with optical and one with coaxial audio cable)
-Cable TV
-audio from computer

Works like a charm. Highly recommended.

Good for the money.......2007-12-08

Well for starters, I have been a Yamaha receiver fan for years now, I just got this cheap one so my dad could use his surround sound that came with our living room with the purchase of a used home. It does its job perfectly with the 5 channel surround, not too powerful and not too weak. It is excellent for people just starting out with the home theatre thing. I originally had a receiver similar to this but then upgraded to the RX-V559 and then eventually to the RX-V661, and every Yamaha receiver I have had ended up being amazing. I will always trust Yamaha to make excellent products as far as their receivers go and would never buy another from someone else.

Wish I had read the review first! NOT 4x speed DVDs!.......2007-04-22

I wish I had read reviews on this item before ordering. I too have a DVD player that only plays 4x speed DVDs. Just received my item in the mail, didn't look at label, opened it, and eagerly tried to record! No luck. After looking on the label, we see that these DVDs are up to 8x speed. Have just contacted ANTOnline, who shipped these and filled out their online form, which has no selection for WRONG ITEM Shipped. We will see if they refund!

NOT 4x Speed DVDs - NOT COMPATIBLE.......2006-03-10

If you are looking for "up to 16x DVD-R" this product would have been a GREAT buy. The problem is that right in the title it states 4X *Not up to 16X". My DVD recorder is NOT compatible with anything but 4x and below. I specifically purchased this product to get 4x DVD-Rs. This is NOT what I received and I had to return them.

Amazon was great on the return. There was no cost to me and the refund was processed quickly.

Bottom line on this product - IT IS NOT 4x DVD-R MEDIA AND SHOULD NOT BE SOLD AS SUCH.
