this preamp uses standard rca inputs and 2 pairs of rca outputs.(also has a pair of xlr outputs which i did not try.)the headphone output is at least adequate,but this preamp really shines driving my "total airhead" solid state headphone amp and also my new hong-kong 6bq5 tube amp used as headphone amp off 8-ohm terminated speaker leads.the tone controlls cannot be bypassed, but i was surprised at how useful they were.my sony mdr-v600 -phones really can use the bass boost the gemini can provide.preamp has no detectible hum or rfi issues.outstanding value.

I Love These, By Far the Best on the Market.......2007-10-25

I bought some of these CDs over a year ago and I would have to say they're the best I have ever used. I've used blank CDs from TDK, Memorex, Sony, Imation, and Maxell but these from HP out perform them all. Memorex and TDK would have to be the absolute worst CDs you can buy. Don't ever burn anything you regard as highly important on either of those two brands. Imation and Maxell are nearly as equal as these from HP but they're hard to find. A lot of my CDs I don't keep in a case, and some get thrown around and are left on the floor and everything. More often than not the data on them becomes corrupted after a few months, but not with these. The CD's I burnt over a year ago are still going strong. I wish HP made blank DVDs as well.

CHECK AC ADAPTER BEFORE USE.......2007-05-26

Ordered device and put it to use without any problems at first.

Was a little confused when I hooked it to my 2.5 HDD (laptop hard drive). Did not see how power adapter works. It turned out that my 2.5 HDD received power from the USB port on my computer. My guess is that if you hook it to a USB hub it should be a powered hub.

One day I hooked it to a 3.5 HDD and nothing (before this it worked fine). After trouble shooting, I found that the DC output was 11 and 6 volts vice 12 and 5 (which is what it should have been). Was it always like this or did it just go bad? I do not know. However 11/6 is not enough (or to much?) to power the HD to spin.

I could have just gotten a bad device (it happens). I received a refund, so all is good.

If device did not break, would rate this 4 stars (not 5, because instructions suck). I think that it is great to hook up things without cracking the case of my desk top.

Would recommend you buy, just CHECK AC ADAPTER BEFORE USE. It may save you the fear of thinking that your device is broken.
