Limited and repetitive songs selection.......2007-09-12
I largely agree with Monday Warrior about the repetitive songs selection. Karaoke is not very popular on our side of the Atlantic, but over in Europe and especially Asia, it's extremely popular. As such, there are much more advanced Karaoke mics with large-capacity song chips, record function, USB connectivity for uploading, live video interleaving, etc.
Fortunately, globalization these days meant most have been imported and are easily purchasable through local merchants/retailers. Just do a search on Google for "Magic Sing" or "Magic Mic". Hope this helps.
The good, the bad and the repetitive .......2007-08-11
Great idea. An easy to use plug and play karaoke machine. While the instrumentals don't sound anywhere as good as the original songs, they are acceptable.
What really bursts my bubble about leadsinger, though, is they charge a pretty penny for more music but each cartridge repeats a great deal many songs from previous catridges. So you really end up paying for the same stuff over and over.
Anyway, if you're into karaoke then this is a very fun item to have around the house if you don't mind the problems I pointed out.

This is an all inclusive Karaoke Midi based system that plugs into the RCA input of your Audio/visual equipment.
Set up is easy. Navigation through the music is easy and easier when you know which song you would like to select through its index that accompanies the system.
Construction is solid. The background visuals are nice but monotonous. The text is clear; as well as prompting. Lead vocals are lead by the prompts as well as the MIDI generated music. Quality of the music is good.
The drawback of a system like this is the lack of 'actual vocals'.
Songs are expanded by buying cartridges (which are limited to as few as 50 or as many as 200).
The rating of your vocals is based upon how you hold the notes in conjunction of the prompts - not the quality of your singing. A seasoned singer who doesn't follow the prompts can get a 40 whereas a singing hacker can get an 88.
All in all, it's worth the time and money for a self contained system that is highly portable and easy to use.
