Almost as small as the iPod itself, the DreamGear i.Sound MAX speaker system makes a handy addition to your iPod accessory collection. The speaker system is built around an integrated docking station and a series of nine docking spacers for various- sized iPods. Together, the spacers and docking station can hold, charge, and sync most new iPods, including the iPod 3G, 4G, video, photo, mini, and nano. Listeners with older iPods aren't left out of the loop, however, as the i.Sound MAX also offers an extra line-in input for attaching non-dockable iPods (like the first-generation iPod and the iPod shuffle) along with other MP3 players and personal CD players.
The i.Sound MAX may be small, but it delivers a crisp sound thanks to its quartet of full- range 1.25-inch neodymium drivers, which produce an overall frequency response of 180 Hz to 20 kHz. The real star of the i.Sound MAX, however, is its robust remote control, which offers dedicated buttons for a variety of iPod features, including buttons for scrolling through playlists, browsing albums, or selecting shuffle or repeat play modes. Little box - BIG SOUND!!.......2007-01-29
My only complaint is that you cannot find a store anywhere carrying this item (at least where I live)to preview the sound and whatnot. However, upon receiving this little beast I was pleasantly surprised. BIG sound from such a small package. As to be expected from most portable speakers this small, the lack of big booming bass is evident, however, the remaining range is quite broad and crystal clear. Where this small monster excels is in its broad sound stage. No matter where I place it, even listening off to one side or the other, this beast paints a pretty broad sound stage. No notable off-center loss of any kind. Also, as some of the reviews out there noted, this thing has a truly high level of i-pod integration. Every adapter for every iPod imaginable is in the box, and man do they slip on easily. You can also update via computer with supplied cord but I don't do this since you have to place near your computer. Mine's in the bedroom currently. Supplied manual leaves something to be desired but what is lacking in instruction can be easily figured out. Just remember to place your iPod in one of the music modes such as "playlist" or "artists" prior to placing in the i.sound max. It does not default to music when placed in the stand and doing this gives you full access to the music. Highly recommended!!! Enjoy!!

use surge protection.......2007-12-14
Great sound but we took a lightening strike and it fried the amp, so
there's not great surge protection designed in. The fuse on the amp
blew, replacement fuses blow immediately, so the fuse wasn't good enough
protection.
I highly suggest using surge protection on this product.
Compact Performance.......2007-08-27
I have been a long-time Polk fan - purchased (and still am using) Monitor series back in the early 80's. Recently set up a surround TV system including Polk R50's - this subwoofer compliments the setup, adding more base although the R50's alone achieve good range into some of the base. The PSW10 looks match the R50's - one of my criteria, and fits nicely in the space available - a second criteria. I am using the sub-out jack from a 70W Onkyo 7.1 receiver with a Y-splitter; depending on the TV programming & audio source, reasonably loud but very clean base response from the PSW10. Present crossover (Onkyo) is set at 100db & blends well with the R50's set at "Large" & with other smaller (Klipsch & Polk) surrounds (frequency adjustment / crossover on the PSW10 is turned all the way up). Recommend this good-looking subwoofer to fill in the added base dimension for compact installations.

In case you are not aware of it, the addition of even a low-cost subwoofer literally completes the sound. I realized this when a very aggresive Bang & Ofulson salesman, who really knew how to sell, brought a $2000 subwoofer to add to the suberb speakers he had already sold me..I wrote him a check! Well, it's the same even at this modest level. Polk has been around since dirt, so I decided to add this sub to my Sony XBR2...it's like you were never really getting the sound...If you have a home theater (or just have remote speakers for the tv) and haven't sprung for the subwoofer, this is a very inexpensive way to upgrade your whole sound.

Great price, hard to find anywhere.......2007-12-21
I could not find these in Home Depot or Lowes, and they were $5+ a piece at electric contractor supply stores.
They are basically blanks that fill an opening on decora wall plates for light switches and outlets. The only downside is that they don't fit loosely into the decora wall plate; you have to force them a little. No damage, its just not a perfect fit.

Truthfully, all nine volt batteries are not very good. Why? Because they are actually six tiny 1.5V button cells (watch batteries) stacked in a casing. There is no way to make a good battery that small, though lithium 9V batteries are much better (and much more expensive) than alkalines.
These are as good as it gets for alkalines, and are the most cost effective solution if you need them for general use.
For smoke alarms, however, get the higher-priced lithium version. Smoke alarms use so little power that a lithium 9V can often power them for their entire ten year lifespan. After ten years, replace the smoke alarms and the batteries, and you are done for another ten years.
