Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

Great sound quality for such a tiny package.......2007-11-05
I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.
A Great iPod Speaker........2007-08-08
It is tiny, compact (no wiggley parts to break off) it runs on batteries as well as AC and I am completely delighted with it.JLab Audio MBBG1 Miniblaster Portable Speaker for iPod Nano (Gen 1) - Black
STOP THINKING AND BUY IT.......2007-07-28
Best bang for the buck...i read all the reviews. just buy it. you can't beat $15 shipped. it gets the job done.
Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

iPod Docking Speaker System with IR Remote
Customer Reviews:
Great Sound, compact foot print.......2007-12-13
Though looking like it belongs in the "iSpeakers" department, make no mistake, this is an excellent product, well worth the money. There is no comparison to cheap (and sometimes not so cheap) docks and speakers, JBL's creation can play your tunes.
There's bass, the highs are clear, mid frequencies are there too. Listening to classical music I found instrument separation to be amazing for such small device.
Though it does not have an EQ control on the speakers, I found that "Classical" setting on my iPod sounds better than the others for any genre. This may have something to do with the internal EQ curve JBL implemented... Of course, this is very subjective and out of all presets you will most likely find the one you like best.
The "Micro" will fit on any messy desk/shelf, but I have a feeling it will perform better in an open space because of it's design.
The remote works exceptionally well, although don't expect lightning fast navigation, takes a little getting used to.
There is video-out, audio-in, and it can function as a USB dock (cable not included)
On the downside, due to it's size and shape there is very little stereo separation, unless you sit right in front of it. It would be awesome to have some kind of "ambient" or "virtual surround" effect available but I found it still performed quite well in a medium-size room.
I'm sure the more expensive (+$100) "High Performance" version will sound better, but the "Micro" provides an excellent price/performance ratio.
I found JBL Radial Micro at my local BJs club for $129.99 which made the purchase even sweeter, considering other stuff you get for around $100.
JBL iPod speakers.......2007-11-13
I purchased the JBL speaker system for my iPod. At first it worked very well and I was very pleased. After about 25 days, the product started to fail, producing loud clicks and pops and then stopping running. After several cycles of this behavior, the speaker system just died and was not able to reproduce any sound from my iPod. I returned the speakers for replacement, but was told that the speakers were no longer being produced and that I would receive a full refund once the return was received. The merchant has been excellent and I highly recommend him. The product was a big disappointment.
Decent sound, but the full size version is better.......2007-10-17
This is a good miniture versions of the legendary JBL Radial iPod dock, but does not feature the same sound quality due to the use of smaller speakers, and other cost cutting measures. Be sure to also consider the full powered version: JBL Radial High-Performance iPod Loudspeaker (Black)
love it.......2007-10-16
My husband bought this product for my Birthday today and I love it! I wanted something for our front room that was small and still filled the room with my music. I was looking at a bose system but of course its way to expensive for just my ipod. Anyways my husband went out and bought this JBL and I love it! My music sounds wonderful and it has a big sound for such a small system. Definitely worth the money. (Yes I looked at the recipt!}
Works well with my Classic 160........2007-10-06
Sounds great, and works well with the iPod Classic 160.
Love the tiny remote control too.

Amazon.com Product Description
The Teac MC-DX20B 45-watt microsystem fits unobtrusively on a tabletop or mounts conveniently on a wall, bringing solid audio performance to rooms where much larger systems fear to tread. The main unit is sleek and elegant, with a profile that measures a mere 6 inches wide, 9 inches tall, and 3 inches deep--slightly bigger than a DVD case. Yet in spite of the compact size, the system includes both a full-featured CD player with a motorized door and a digital AM/FM tuner. The speakers are also notably thin at 2.5 inches thick, but are bolstered by high-quality aluminum honeycomb diaphragms that fill up a room with crisp, graceful sound. The system's separate 15-watt subwoofer further rounds out the audio performance with full-bodied bass. Listeners can also adjust the bass and treble controls to create a more pleasing balance.
The CD player and AM/FM radio contribute to the system's elite performance through other means. Compatible with CD, CD-R/RW, and MP3 formats, the CD player offers such functions as 64-track programming, random play, and repeat play. The varied functions let listeners create their own custom soundtracks whether kicking back on the couch alone or providing music for a party. Meanwhile, the tuner's PLL-synthesized tuner includes 20 AM/FM presets (10 FM and 10 AM) so that listeners can easily locate or scan their favorite stations. Additional features include a backlit LCD display with a clock, a sleep timer, and a full-featured remote control.

Not bad for the price.......2007-05-07
For the price, this little stereo is quite a jewel. It's great for a bedroom or office. Very clean sound, good highs and moderate bass with a very small sub. I would put it up against anything even close in price.
Great Sound Quality.......2007-02-19
I bought this for my musician spouse, so sound quality was of the up most importance. It did not disappoint! We love this great little stereo. It gets used almost everyday.
And, I have to say - of course the subwoofer is not wall mountable! We haven't wall mounted it, but if fits great on a small shelf, with the subwoofer on the floor in the corner.
Surprisingly Nice System.......2007-01-11
First of all I want to say that I love Amazon and how efficient and timely they are. The Teac system is very sleek and compact and sounds great! I bought this for my partner who wanted a single disc system, so she is loving it. I would personally prefer a system with multi-disc capacity. The remote is surprisingly heavy; not a bad thing. There seems to be some difficulty in consistent response to the power on/off function from the remote. All in all this system well exceeds any expectation I would have had for so inexpensive a product.
My new office sound system.......2006-11-20
I am VERY pleased with the quality and value of this system. I am replacing a more expensive JBL system and this is an UPGRADE in quality for 1/3 the cost. My only problem is that the remote does not work. I assume the battery is dead.
Not bad.......2006-10-24
This stereo system looks great which is why I bought it. I liked the compact design of the speakers. However, once we got it home it was a pain in the neck to set up becuase the cord that connects the subwoofer to the cd system did not fit correctly. We sat there for 20 mintues with a seafood fork trying to move the spikes into the right position to fit it into the slots it was meant for. Yeah- Husband was not too pleased about that. He also didn't like the bulkyness of the cords for such a compact system. It is much heavier then it appears- its not flimsy by any means. The sound quality is pretty good, although I have heard better. I personally like the remote that came with it, its sleek. Overall, its an ok piece of equipment but certainly not the very best. I'm not returning as its meets my needs, although I think I could have spent less and gotton something of the same quality.
