great sound; design flaws.......2007-08-10
These speakers sound GREAT. However, there appear some design flaws. First and foremost, the power cords don't "seat" well and tend to pull out too easily. Secondly, the loud "pop" when they are turned on and off is annoying--I don't know if it is damaging to the speakers or not, but it sure sounds like it. Thirdly, they're not really a "pair", just two of the same speaker, so there are two on/off switches, two volume controls and two sets of tone controls. That being said, they are very good sounding portable speakers. Very convenient--just plug in your IPod and you're done. I bought them for my daughter's dorm room, but I have used them outside with a projector to show movies on the side of the house! When she leaves for school, I am probably buying another set!
Great sound, Perfect for classical music.......2006-12-08
These speakers sound very clean, and work very well together. They can't quite replace the need for a subwoofer, as the bass sounds a little forced. They're perfect for listening to classical music, which I do a lot of. The sounds is especially crisp for vocal and orchestral works. However, for hip-hop, which I also listen to, the bass is somewhat weak. Overall, a great deal!

I had my computer for about two years without any speakers. Finally, I decided to add shielded, self-powered speakers that occupied a small footprint. When a pair of Advent AV570 70 Watt 2-Way Powered speakers arrived, I removed them from the packing. Small, yes; heavy, yes; easy to hook up with the enclosed cables, yes. I fired up the computer and headed to iTunes. The sound's magnitude is huge, beyond my wildest hopes! Movie sound tracks came to life. Via the stereo imaging, dialogue is magically centered. The AV570 speakers remarkably handle low frequencies. It's easy to adjust the EQ, should anyone want more treble or bass. Each speaker also has a knob to set the volume levels, and no distortion whatsoever emerges. Other people stop by to listen. They can hardly believe their ears. In my opinion, the AV570 is the best small speaker system on the market!
Best sounding computer speakers!.......2006-09-29
I hooked these puppies up to my computer and they rock. I have a serious audiophile stereo system and these sound nearly as good at one tenth the cost. Good bass and treble controls, sound is great even played softly, and really kick turned up loud. The only thing I am going to change is get longer wires so I can get better separation. Use them with anything that has a headphone jack for great sound.

Use them in combination with an AirPort Express Base Station and you can kiss all the wireless speakers on the market good bye. Tons of power and great sound quality.

Disappointing.......2007-11-22
Olympus 202032 H-1 GB xD Picture Card (Retail Package)
The card was dead out of the package. The Olympus camera I bought it for was also a disappointment, I returned both of them for credit.
My next camera will probablt be a Canon with SD memory, which is much more common.
Okay card for still photos, marginal for video.......2007-11-19
I bought this card for use in a Fuji S9000 digicam, which also accepts Compact Flash cards. The XD card is noticeably slower to write to than the CF card. On at least one occasion, while shooting 640 x 480 x 30fps video clips with the S9000 (XD card selected as the recording media), the video file was corrupted and unreadable, possibly due to the inability of the XD card to keep up with the MJPEG data stream coming from the processor. I don't know if this failure was something inherent in this card, XD cards in general, or a fault in the camera. I have shot video clips on the XD card on a couple of other occasions with no failures or drop-outs. It has never failed when recording regular still images.
I would have prefered to avoid buying an XD card in the first place, as they are not widely used or available (few cameras other than Olympus brand use XD cards). XD was substantially more expensive than CF or SD when I bought this card - like Sony's Memory Stick, XD is brand-specific so you pay more for it. Because of the questionable performance in my S9000, I generally only switch over to the XD card when the CF card has been filled to capacity and I have more shots to take. I would not want to rely on the XD card for anything really important like a wedding shoot.

Tried using this on vacation in my Olympus camera for panoramics not sure if it was the card, the OS, the camera or the software but before I could get the photos off the card they would get corrupted and be gone forever. Still think it's great for regular photos though.
