The AS-IW6 is designed for in-wall use, and is sold in pairs. The detachable bezel allows you to remove the speaker without removing the bezel from the wall surface. This allows painting or refinishing of your wall, as well as the mounting bezel. This two-way speaker features a 6-1/2" woofer and a 1" Teteron tweeter that sonically matches the other models in athena's product line up. The AS-IW6 features a pivoting tweeter to direct the sound towards the listening position, as well as a unique two-position high frequency equalizer control which allows you to compensate for your room's specific acoustic environment.

Each AS-IW6 installs unobtrusively in the wall, where it takes up very little space while delivering topnotch stereo and home theater sound. Plus, the speakers include detachable bezels, so you can remove the speaker from the wall while the bezel stays securely mounted. Each two-way speaker is equipped with a 6.5-inch injection-molded cone woofer with a rubber surround for high power handling and durability, as well as dual 0.75-inch Teteron dome tweeters that reproduce exceptionally clear high frequencies. The speakers not only offer a broad 55 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response--helping them excel as either front or rear speakers in a surround system--but the Teteron tweeters are timbre matched to mesh with other Athena speakers, such as Audition floorstanding and bookshelf models. It's never been easier or more affordable to create a versatile, custom home theater speaker system. Further flexibility stems from the pivots beneath the tweeters, which let you easily direct the sound toward the listening position, and the unique two-position high-frequency equalizer control, which compensates for a room's specific acoustic effects.
The speakers' versatility helps solve many of the installation problems common to rooms with unusual shapes or inflexible furniture layouts. Don't have the space for a couple of standard floorstanding or bookshelf speakers? The AS-IW6s function just as well but without the bulk. Installation is relatively straightforward thanks to the included mounting template, which helps you precisely mark the cutout location. As with any home project, however, homeowners should carefully determine the ideal listening location and find a spot devoid of studs, insulation, moisture, and debris before installing the speakers (the AS-IW6s require a mounting cutout of 7.5 by 10.8 inches (W x H) and a depth of 3.3 inches).
Additional features include power handling of up to 100 watts RMS and a 2.2 kHz crossover point. Each speaker weighs a mere 2.5 pounds and is backed by a five-year warranty on parts and labor.

Good quality mount.....Can support a fair amount of weight...Connecting the speaker to the mount proved to be somewhat of a difficult task to do alone......I used this mount for my center channel because of its low profile.....I used the BT1 for the front left/right channels and they were a breeze to install and use.....
