Do not get this product!!!.......2007-06-29
I bought this clock a little over a month ago and it worked great for the first couple of weeks and then it started to screw up my iPod. Now my iPod will only sometimes play the music on it otherwise it will just go to the playlist and freeze. This didn't happen until I bought the iWake and now I have a useless clock radio and a broken iPod. If you do buy this clock radio make sure you get the warranty so you can at least get a new one or your money back (I threw away my receipt because I assumed it worked).
Outstanding Alarm Clock.......2007-05-08
I purchased my iWake about one week ago and I am 100% satisfied so far. I chose the iWake because it had several of the features that I was looking for in an alarm clock/radio. First, it has a large "snooze" button that is positioned nowhere near any other buttons that turn the alarm function off. Also, digital radio tuning, sleek, attractive design with large, clear, backlit time display. The fact that it works with my iPod was really just a pleasant bonus. I think that some of the negative comments about this item are the result of a different set of initial expectations. If you are primarily looking for something to serve as your regular stereo/soundsystem for iPod, you might not be satisfied with this; the sound quality could perhaps be a little better (but it's not bad) and it's true that the remote is nothing to write home about. But that's not really what this item is intended to be. This is an alarm clock/radio- that's what I had in mind when I bought it and as such, I think it's great. How many alarm clocks come with any kind of remote control at all?
Worst. iPod Player. EVER........2007-03-29
This is singularly the worst iPod player I've ever encountered. I purchased it for use at work, and it's given me nothing but headaches. The main problems center around the remote, which to say is unresponsive would be putting it mildly. Most buttons have to be hit at least twice to do what you want, and it's not unusual for a button to do the exact opposite of its intended purpose. Then, every few songs or so, when you're skipping ahead or back, it makes this BRRR! sound followed by a high-pitched whine, and takes several seconds before proceeding to the next song.
I'm extremely sorry I purchased this device, and I would strongly advise others from making the same mistake.
Product defective - charged $10 for repairs.......2007-02-17
Sister got this for Christmas. It worked fine for a few weeks. Then the buttons stopped working, and plugging a line source into the line-in socket didn't do anything. Not even the power button works.
Called Memorex. They said it was a defective product. Told to find a receipt and then ship it back to them. Return shipping would cost $7.50 (even though the product was defective).
Have since lost the recepit. So Memorex charges $10 for repairs.
This product is a total rip-off. Do NOT get it!
Poor Quality Control.......2007-02-08
I bought this item sometimes in Fall 06. First of all I prefer this over the iHome because this simply looks better, cheaper, and comes with a remote. With those come the bad:
1. Rather minor, but its true that the display is hard to see. The 'bright' settings is WAY too bright, yet in the midst of the annoying brightness you still have a problem looking at the time from afar.
2. The automatically increasing alarm volume is the most annoying flaw. Trust me, the other reviewers are right.
3. It doesnt have a correct 'mouthpiece' to hold my Ipod nano snugly, but this is not a big deal if you are gentle with it.
4. Then comes the quality control. I certainly hope this problem is not a widespread one because that would be a shame. Starting a month ago or so (after 3 months of use), I'd notice that sometimes when I have a little static ( I have carpet in my bedroom ) and I touch the iWake, the clock would reset itself back to 12AM and all the alarm presets are erased. This was merely annoying until last night when this happened again and this time all the buttons stopped working. Couldnt set the time, couldnt do nothing. Zilch. Nada.
In short I certainly hope that point no. 4 is just an anomaly, but I think its important to be noted. I'm going to see if I can get it exchanged at LNT. Other than that, its just a matter of whether you can stand the ridiculous alarm volume increment.
Update 11/21/07: My SECOND unit just went dead last night with the EXACT same problem as number 4. So 2 units dead due to minor static right now.. I'm not happy.
