I purchased this and then returned it. It sounded great...on the left side of my car. There was no sound on the right at all. When I would turn the speaker balance all the way to the right, there was still no sound. I tried this with my CD player and an MP3 player. Same problem. I don't recommend this item.

Purchased two of these adapters (I tend to lose things) for use in car as well as a cheap boombox. Both of the tapes make a sort of gear, grinding sound (plastic against plastic) which, though soft, can get really annoying. Luckily, the one I've used in the car seems to have decreased in the amount of noise it makes and I hope it will continue to do so. Using one of these adapters inside the boombox is simply unbearable, the noise the cassette makes while playing is much more distracting since it is adjacent to the speakers.
I'm no audiophile, but I would describe the fidelity of the adapter as "acceptable." It's not bad, but probably muffles the sound of my mp3 player more than I realize.
While these adapters aren't great, they're not expensive and if you can combine shipping with something else, it might be worth it. However, if you have to pay shipping for this item alone, I would recommend finding a better option.

There's a reason this thing is only 6 bucks. It's absolute junk. I put it into the cassette player in my car, and the sounds were completely distorted. The voice constantly skips, and the casette sometimes clicks. The quality of sound in my car is usually amazing, and basically there was no bass sound coming through my speakers using this device. I've tried both sides, but still no avail. I plan on returning it if shipping doesn't cost more than the product itself.

Lappy loves 'em!.......2007-11-12
Both Lappy and Lappy Junior (laptops #1 and #2) would angrily (and hastily) spit out all other CDs with great disdain and disgust, even refusing to acknowledge their presence. Ugly, you-don't-even-exist statements would then flash across Lappy's monitor after I inserted other CDs into Lappy's CD drive (such as "please insert disk").
I personally spent at least $3.2 million trying to find a CD that Lappys I & II would accept. The Maxell CD-R 700/80 are the ONLY disks that the Lappys love.
As a professional writer, and as the sister of a comp-sci professor, I do NOT walk away from Lappy at the end of the day without backing up my work. Every morning that Lappy Junior springs to life is a miracle of grace and I recognize that as a true fact. So I go through a lot of disks, backing up each day's work.
I know many would argue that the flash-drives are a better way to save, but I prefer the disks for daily work. They can be added to, and, if your flash drive had a catastrophic failure, you could lose months and months of work. If your CD failed, you'd lose a day's work (assuming you back up each night).
These CDs come in "color" which just means that the disks themselves are brightly colored (five colors) rather than the traditional plain silver. I prefer the silver, as I can use my handy-dandy sharpie markers and write a table of contents on the face of the CD.
And if we're talking preferences, I prefer the 100-count, which comes in a plastic case (which also provides for handy storage of recorded CDs). I have noticed that prices vary widely on this site. I paid about twenty-seven dollars for my 100-count of Maxell 48x CD-R.
