Bottom line: IMHO this product is a winner. I bought it in April '07. I'm very happy with it.
The delivery was fast, and the shipping charges were low. My total cost was actually slightly less than a 6 ft TOSLINK cable ordered on the same day from another Amazon partner (which took longer to get to me, and has no significant distinguishing characteristics other than the shorter length.)
The cable arrived packaged in a padded shipping envelope two days after I placed my order. No fancy packaging - just the cable. I think it's great (I didn't have to pay more just to send useless waste the landfill.)
I use the cable to connect the audio output from my Epson Moviemate 30S projector to my Pioneer VSX-816 receiver in my basement home theater. I installed the cable by running it inside "Cordmate" plastic conduit. The 50 ft length was enough to allow me to run along the floor molding from one side of my basement to the other. It works very well.
The mechanical strain relief for this cable may not be quite as desirable as the higher priced options. But in my application all my equipment is generally stationary so this is not a big concern. Occasionally I'll take my projector outside for a family-movie-watching party with the neighbors. On these occasions I use an old stereo amp from my college days to drive a pair of speakers and I leave the TOSlink cable in my basement still hooked up to the VSX 816. I have had to rearrange the home theater a few times since I got the cable. So I have had to unplug and replug the cable a number of times and it is still working well. No signs of wear.
