The best case, and I've tried others.......2007-01-27
I tried two other cases before this one, and this is by far the best. The only thing I would do to improve it is put a hole at the bottom for the sub pack, and I'd add a plastic cover for the screen, as that is a large reason why most people want a carrying case. These two things really aren't a big deal to me, however. If I need to use the sub pack, the case it quite easy to remove, and to protect the screen, I simply use the plastic screen covers which come with the iAudio. The case is compact, gives easy access to the controls, and I know the description says it's pleather, but it sure looks, feels and smells like leather to me. I definitely recommend this case over the others I have tried.

I looked far and wide for some sort of case for the X5, mostly to protect it. Unfortunately, accessories for MP3 players are hard to come by unless you own an iPod... This one is the best option available. It keeps the player secure and offers holes cut for almost everything. The only thing is you have to take it out of the case to plug in the subpack (to charge it or to upload music). This really isn't a big deal, it goes in and out of the case very easily.

I use this carrying case for iAudio X5 30 GB, and the player fits into it perectly - nice and tight. The case is well made and it has openings in the right places to use it on the go. You need to take the player out only to charge it or to transfer files, but this is not an issue because removing the player and putting it back in takes no time.
Note that this case would work only for X5 model (with regular battery), not for the thicker X5L with extended life battery.
Highly recommended.
Defective Design.......2007-01-12
This item, produced and marketed exclusively for the iAudio X5, is entirely useless. The carrying case does not comply with the measurements of the device itself. The ONLY way to insert the device into the limited size and shape of this carrying case would be to cut the case wide open with scissors. Even if one could somehow manage to squeeze an iAudio into the tiny case, the designers forgot to install an opening for the charger. I returned mine immediately. If you order this item you will be frustrated with a poorly designed, ill-fitting, unacceptable piece of worthless junk.
