Yes, this is as awful as people make it sound. I've tried it with two different iPods and two different vehicles (in two different states). To imagine how this sounds, turn to a station that is all static (end of story). Please don't be like the rest of the reviewers here by buying this faulty item.
A Noisy Trasmitter.......2006-02-02
Dont buy this. This is useful as a charger but as a transmitter. I am pretty surprised Maxell has released such a bad product. There's too much of noise in the signal!

Well I bought this product so I would be able to use my ipod in my car and I just did'nt feel like buying a cassette adaptor and a charger. (since the ipod's battery life isnt too long)
Design: I thought the design was OK. The white cord matched your ipod. and the power adaptor had a blue light which didnt look too bad.
Usage: This is not a plug-play device! You have to set your own channels! And even after finding a empty channel theres alot of static! I drive '04 camery and i realized that the radio antenna was integrated into my back windshield. So what i did was i dragged the radio channel input controller all the way back near the back seat in order to get less static... So i cant even say its AM quality.
pros: it charges your ipod.. it doesnt look to bad
cons: one of the worst FM transmiters..
So now i m just using this thing to charge my ipod. and i use a cassette adapator to listen to my music.

Yea...I bought this one just like the guys above me. Same issues, static reception, crap quality. Even when I finally found a clean station, it got static when it tried to hit the base. Deffinetly save your money, I am returning mine.

All static all the time. This transmitter is just lousy. There's all kinds of static and disk drive noise on top of the signal. Even in a rattly work truck the signal to noise ratio is unacceptably low. Don't even pay $1 for the Maxell product. I suffered with it a long time until a friend gave me a Griffin Road Trip. The signal from that thing is MUCH better plus it has a removeable module that allows sending sound output from my home computer to my home stereo.

Decent center channel speaker.......2007-08-23
I got this to go with the nanostats in a modest surround sound setup. I found it to be a little on the week side and it took a bit of futzing with and positioning to get it to be clear and fit in the mix. Probably because it was in a drawer made for a center channel speaker, but I had to actually put some supports in to make it fire correctly forward. Taking the cover off helped too. Another problem that most people won't have is that I was moving into a place with hardwood floors, no rug, little furniture and 16 foot ceilings. All these things don't bode well for clear dialog but the Nano CC did a pretty good job.
Anyway, in the end I got it working really well and now I don't even notice it, as it should be.

I bought a hundred, at KMart, for a project that needed done. So I spent the few bux more to buy Sony CD-R's. I'm getting a 30% failure rate. So I hunted around (spending more and more of my time here...) and got ahold of sony per the 800 number. Their position? (Other than that fact that the very first thing on their tape is not 'welcome to Sony' it's 'If you've had a failure with A, press one, if you've had a failure with B, press two, etc') That I should package up and ship my four boxes of Sony off to some PO Box, at MY EXPENSE, and they'll replace them. Sheesh. Why didn't I just buy Verbatim CD-R's (Ive had no problem with those) or what ever the cheapie brand might be at one of the big chains (Ive had no problem with those, either). So if you're looking for media, don't shop Kmart, and don't shop Sony. Happy holidays, everyone.
Sony's Proprietary nature.......2003-10-08
These discs are OK. I recently purchased a Sony burner and could not burn with my Memorex or TDK media I already had. I called Sony and their answer was that media other than Sony is not supported on Sony burners. Fine, no surprise from Sony there. I bought some Sony media and it worked fine with Nero 5.5 and thier rinky B's Gold recorder.
Conclusion: If you don't have a Sony burner purchase something else. If you are thinking about buying a Sony burner - run!!
Good product, but low lifetime.......2003-07-11
I never had any problems writing the disk, unlike the other reviewers. Infact, I have bought these twice and may be 2 or 3 out of the 100 had problems, while writing.
But my problem is an entirely different one: they don't last long. The lifespan of a CD is probably 20 times playing entire CD, and I guess it makes sense to expect more. After this time, the tracks skip.
If you don't frequently listen to CDs and maintain them well, then this would be a good product for you.
HORRIBLE DISKS!.......2003-06-09
These disks are the worst, and I repeat, the WORST disks I have ever tried before. Only about 1 out of ever 15 worked. I have never had problems with any other disks, except for these. I would not recommend for anyone to waste their money on these.

Not one of the 50 CDs worked. Not one. I thought it was my drive but then tried memorex CDs and they worked perfectly. I will never buy a Sony CD again. I ended up having to throw out the entire set of 50 because the store wouldn't take them back. I've read similar things about the Sony CD-R 700MB discs on other websites. I'm not sure why they don't recall these because the do not work, plain and simple.
