Philips Subwoofer.......2007-10-07
I bought one of these subwoofers to use with a plasma TV in our bedroom. It sounds great and when the TV is off it switches itself to standby mode. It senses when the TV is on and turns itself on. It produces more than enough bass to enhance the overall sound produced by the TV. It is also smaller than many of the subs available. I am very happy and would recommend this to others. The downside is that shipping cost about as much as the subwoofer. Because of the size and weight I guess.

I'm a long time Amazon customer but was disappointed when I put this item in the cart and discovered the shipping cost was almost $30. Just out of curiosity I went to the ShopTronics website directly. Shipping was only half of that. The Amazon "cut" here is too large. Now I have to check all the websites when shopping the marketplace. What a pain. The subwoofer is on the way to my home UPS directly from ShopTronics. More later once I hook it up to my PC.

I have owned this subwoofer for about 2 weeks. Easy to set up and plug in. It does not put out a lot of bass, but then I didn't want something that would rock the neighborhood anyway. It has just enough bass boost to give some good low end for movies and music....as part of a 6.1 set. I have it plugged into a receiver so that it is only on when the receiver is.
It cost as much to ship it, as I paid for it....but then most home subwoofers are over $100 to start.
