Omni 550 vs PolkAudio R50.......2007-10-16
I was considering whether to Mirage Omni 550 ($200/each) or Polk Audio R50 ($69/each). Since this is a long term investment and I was unable to compare them in retail store. I decided to purchase the more expensive Mirage Omni550. It sounds great. But I couldn't resist the low priced Polk Audio R50. Here are my comparison:
Cabnet: Polk Audio is more solid.
Sensivity: Polk is higher. Polk Audio R50 is much louder than Omni 550.
SOund Quality: Polk Audio R50 has very strong vocal. Omni550 is much balanced. From spec, Omni has better bass. Overall, both speakers are good.
My suggestions: For beginner, I would suggest Polk Audio R50. Considering the shipping cost, it looks like PolkAudio and Frys are selling this model without any margin.
