I paint a lot and need good photo paper to reference from. The images printed out great. Good bargain for the price!
Simply a good product.......2007-08-06
Not much to say on photo paper except that it arrived on time in excellant condition and the price was right.
This is great paper.......2007-06-27
I would buy again. Everything I hoped for. I don't have any problem with the thickness as written in other review, it's as good or better than prints at the store. It's a real value for the money.
Great Photo Paper With One Exception.......2007-05-19
Using HP Vivera inks this paper really shows its stuff. My only quibble is that it could be slightly thicker like the HP Premium Plus.

Customer Reviews:
awesome printer.......2007-12-20
Awesome (if you use Windows XP)! If you use Vista, be prepared for problems printing with Adobe Elements. Canon's Vista help area doesn't even cover the 9500- you have to go elsewhere to find the correct drivers (the Canon helpdesk did get me to the right place). Bit I still can not print every paper size using Vista and Adobe Elements 5.0 - sometimes only a half page will print, sometimes an inch and sometimes the whole picture - its a crap shoot. Using XP and Elements 5.0 everything works great. I can use Vista and Canon's print program successfully.
Print quality is awesome - highly recommend this printer.
Research before buying (and get a good price).......2007-12-18
I see quite a few complaints about the print quality on glossy paper, but I also agree with those who say that that is simply the nature of pigment ink. As it stands, I have found this printer to provide a satisfactory introduction to pigment ink-jet printing if you adjust a few things about your thinking :) When I bought it, I was not at all concerned with print speed, thinking that to be an extremely low priority when compared to image quality. I wanted something that could print larger formats, and have the prints be durable. Its print quality in my eyes surpasses that of my Canon S820 (RIP) and i860 when fed good paper. It seems to be sturdily made, and compared to what I have owned, it does excellent black and white prints, which opens another door for me (even if the high-gloss door is now closed). Yes, the colors are not as punchy as the dye printers on some media, but they do seem to be more of a match to what I see on-screen, meaning that if I want punch it should be in my original image first. On the other hand, if I have a subtle tone in my image, I have no worries about being able to print it. Long story short, look at your pictures, look at the paper you want to use, then go choose a printer. If you require an accurate print on fine-art paper at a decent variety of sizes, it is not a bad choice, but profiles are easier to find for the Epsons.
Archival quality at home.......2007-12-16
I bought this printer on the recommendation of an old school shooter I know. I brought it home and checked on amazon to see reviews and my heart sunk seeing the surprising number of low rankings. I verified that I could return it if the results weren't to my liking and went ahead and did some prints.
Now that I've done that I'm very surprised by the low rankings here. Using my Mac, Photoshop and the Pro9500 I'm very happy with the results. I've done color prints on Canon and generic Costco papers with excellent results on both. As a baseline, I just started with the profiles I built using my ip6000D and found that no adjustment was necessary.
Next, I turned to black and white. This was the main reason I decided to buy this printer. It has a reputation for making good B&W prints. So far I've only tested on glossy papers, but even these look great with no color cast that I can perceive.
In short, I won't be returning this printer. It's living up to my expectations very nicely.
canon makes a terrible printer.......2007-12-14
I have owned a Canon photo printer (i9100) It was great. This one is terrible. It is slow(very slow) and the prints are not really very good. With all the ink tanks ($) you would think that the photos would "radiate" color. They are dark. When you call the hot line they tell you that the printer only works well with semi gloss paper (and only Canon brand paper) I would return this printer if I could
Worst Printer I've Ever Bought.......2007-11-29
This printer deserves a "big black hole" rating rather than any stars at all. All the prints that I do on matte photo paper come out dull. When I called the totally useless tech support they said that this machine only works well on Canon paper. They admit that it doesn't do glossy prints well on any paper. Too bad about the reams of HP, Epson, and Staples paper that are on my shelf. I caved in a bought Canon matte paper and the prints are more dull than when I used the Staples matte paper. Worst yet it guzzles ink like a Hummer! I went through two $15 cartridges with about 20 dull prints.

Customer Reviews:
Something went bad fast with this printer.......2007-12-26
It started out great. I didn't even use it much as it was reserved for photos and tabloid size printing at work. Then suddenly it couldn't deal with the HP 99 photo ink cartridges anymore. The color photos are atrocious with too much green and black or everything blurry. I tried cleaning heads, doing realignments, changing ink carts. Nothing helped. The photos look okay using just the black and tricolor ink carts. Did something change with the HP 99 ink carts? Did I just get a bad batch? Also, it can't seem to center photos on the page, even if I check emulate laser margins.
Superb Printer for Blueprints; Very large Visios; etc........2007-11-18
This is a superb printer and I'm amazed by the price -- the startup printer price and the price/sheet. BUT UNDERSTAND...this is not a printer for printing your typical 8 1/2 x 11s. All those 2, 3 stars are from folks that thought they were buying a printer to use in the office/home for typical text pages. This printer is best for TABLOID size (22 x 11) size color prints like technical drawings and simlilar. Also, know that it's rather slow compared to a typical laser jet, so you can't be in a hurry. But otherwise you can't beat the quality of the output for the price. Thanks HP!!!
WARNING! Defective color print assembly - HP will NOT make good!.......2007-08-20
I bought this printer because it is the only inkjet/deskjet I could find with a duplexing unit - and I have to say that part of it works great! Otherwise, it has more than its share of snarky moments, like whenever I refill the paper it has to be coaxed to start pulling sheets automatically, but I can usually get it going again with a few tries.
However, recently I got an error message that there was a problem with the tricolor cartridge, and being a little naive, after removing and reinstalling the cartridge, which was relatively new, I took its instructions to install a new one seriously. Note: total spent on HP cartridges that don't make the printer resume working: $70 plus tax. The error message continues to pop up, and the red error light on the printer continues to flash red. When the color cartridge is removed, it will print B&W.
So I check on HP's own forum, and what do I find? Two other reports of exactly the same problem, which one of the posters narrowed to a broken plastic bracket. There's a similar report on [...]. So in a printer that is only 8 months old, and according to its own count, has produced only 629 print-outs, a little piece of plastic has done me in. Do I need to tell you that because it's out of warranty, HP has nothing to offer except a minimum $230 open-it-up-and-look service? EXCUSE ME? On a $400 printer?? (Mine's more expensive that most due to the duplexer, but still!)
Anybody know of a nice inkjet duplexing printer made by anybody other than HP???
The Problem people have with this Printer.. .......2007-08-14
Okay I've had this Printer about a Week now,
I must say I was a little bit worried when I ordered this due to the amount of reviews that it had on the negative side. But now After owning the Printer and Working with it I see the Beef Most people have had..
See The Nice Thing about this Printer and HP
Is the Ink's Everyone on hear that rights a bad review on this printer I'm sure are use to the Canons and the Epson's who only have one type of ink for their model printers where This HP has A Couple different Price range inks This Printer Comes with Test ink on the low range of their inks.
This Printer Will Not I repeat Will Not Print very High Resolution straight out of the box with the ink that comes with it.. I am a Professional Photographer who was looking for a Cheaper printer I can take with me and not worry about it getting broken or what not. Now as Photographer I love this Printer for this Price You Can't beat it..
Just know if you are going to be printing Photos Buy the HP 99 inks Not the 97's Better Color & Better dpi...
All I have to say is Don't bother Reading the Bad Reviews on this Printer Rather Read the Manual and Don't act you know more then it does Cause it will help you Setup the Printer and Get it to print what you want.
INSTALL THE DRIVERS!!
almost perfect.......2007-07-16
We bought two of these to do a combination of office printing, "B" size (11x17) drawings, and some basic graphics (barcodes). After a little tweaking it does all three pretty well.
The printers are surprisingly fast, probably 5 to 10 times faster than the deskjet 1000 and 1220c that they replaced. Even the first page out is fast - a pleasent surprise.
The advertised ability to "Conveniently print images with or without borders" is a misleading statement. Like all other HP printers, there is an unprintable border. The actual unprintable border areas are
.13inch left&right, .07inch top, and .56 inch bottom. This is what caused us most of the heartburn. This is documented, down in the bowels of the user manual that is on the CD that comes with the printer.
Installation is faily painless. Just follow the directions. In summary, run the setup on the CD BEFORE plugging the printer into the PC.
It uses PCL5C not 5E, if that is a concern for you. Most folks won't notice the difference.

Great Printer Lousy Ink Cartridge Expiration Policy.......2007-10-07
I have:
- 2 HP laptops,
- 2 HP desktops,
- one HP docking station,
- four HP printers,
- 2 HP print servers, and
- 3 HP 12C calculators.
- And a supply of cartridges for all of the printers.
My newest printer is the HP Officejet Pro K850. I bought this to compliment my HP Business inkjet 2200 because is a wide format and it uses the same individual ink cartridges as the BIJ 2200. Today I tried to print with the K850 and it would not print. The Cyan and Magenta cartridges are "out of date" even though they are 48% and 50% full. Out of date also means it disables the printer too. I keep a good supply of these cartridges so I will not run out at an inconvenient time. I buy them when Office Depot or Staples has a deal or on sale-they are normally over $30 each. Granted some are older than others-so what? I do use the older ones first! Today is Sunday and an inconvenient time. I did not lease these cartridges from HP. I did not rent these cartridges from HP. I BOUGHT THEM! THEY ARE MINE. I have just learned that HP puts a drop-dead chip in these cartridges so they expire whether they are good or not! Planned - sneaky is better term- obsolescence! This should be ILLEGAL- maybe it is already!! And it is a sorry way to treat loyal - or maybe exloyal- customers. Furthermore,HP off shore customer service sucks. I gave up and just Google for answers and found the expiration chip information there. It works well too! You might want to try it yourself!
BUT IT IS A GREAT WIDE FORMAT PRINTER! I have the network and automatic reverse side options and they work great too. I did have problem printing 13x19 photos but I think I can work that out - with the help of Google.
Works great on white paper but refuses to print on color stock.......2007-10-01
We needed a tabloid size printer to replace our old HP 1120C and 1220C. This printer seemed to be the obvious choice. We received this about 3 weeks ago and have been fighting with it ever since. While it works great on white paper, we could not get it to function AT ALL with colored paper; not even with bright yellow paper. The printer never even attempts to print; it simply reports a paper jam error. Finally we called HP and were told (after an hour), that this printer is not compatible with color paper. Nowhere on the HP site does it mention this minor detail! Since color paper is our main use for this printer we requested a replacement. After over two hours on the phone, HP did agree to upgrade us (at some cost) to the 2800 printer. I hope that one will work!
Satisfied User.......2007-07-23
This printer is soooo much better than the older Epson it replaced. I am very satisfied with the quality and dependability of this printer for the price. I have been using it for a month now. The paper feed works flawlessly on all sizes of paper. The cancel print button on HP printers is an excellent feature to save money. The seperate ink reserviors for each color is also a money saver. I don't use photo quality printing so I can't comment on that, but the faster print mode produces excellent results. One tip I can offer is that the color ink cartridges are HP 11 cartridges, but the wider black cartridge with more ink that fits in this printer is an HP 10.
Perfect for what I was looking for.......2007-05-15
I am a design/build contractor and business owner.
What I was looking for:
-Large format (13x19) prints
-Inexpensive ink/reasonable ink usage
-independent cartridges for each color
Note that I was not looking for a photo printer. For those of you looking for a photoprinter this is not it. That being said the prints are quite good. They are not super high end but they look sharp. You are going to have to make a choice photo-quality prints or inexpensive printing cost. You can't have both.
The noise people mentioned in other reviews doesn't bother me at all. I have it right beside me and its fine. It does make some noise but I'm not running prints all day so it's not a bother.
I picked up some remanufactured ink cartridges (69ml blk, and 3 28ml colors for under $50).
For a business owner needing affordable printer that does large format this is it. It's great running off full color 13x19 prints and not flinching at how much its going to cost.
Great Large Format Printer.......2007-03-24
This is my fourth 11x17 printer, and the best of them by far. I use 11x17 only occasionally, but when I need it, I need it. The printer is much more rugged than the typical HP small office / home office unit, which is to be expected given its significantly higher price. The individual ink tanks are a big plus, since 11x17 printing can consume a LOT of ink, and you can easily deplete one color of a three-color cartridge, causing you to discard a lot of perfectly good ink. The footprint IS large, but hey, it prints on large paper. It IS noisy before it starts printing, but that isn't a problem in my situation.
There's a drawback if you plan to use this printer for photos -- it can't do borderless prints. It DOES print well on small stock, and since it sits close to my chair, I use its single sheet feed slot to print the address and return address (with a color logo) on the #10 envelopes I occasionally send out.

I used these to do my Christmas cards this year. The software was very easy to use and the end product came out great.
Product Description

Customer Reviews:
Doesn't print from outside applications.......2007-10-30
Just bought and installed the QL-1050 on my system so I could hopefully run UPS and FedEx and Priority Mail 4x6" thermal shipping labels for our daily outbound shipments. Only to find that this printer only prints from within it's own Ptouch Editor software application. While it's true that you can copy and paste text (like addresses) from other outside applications back into the Brother software, you can't simply print a label created at websites like UPS.com or Fedex.com or USPS.com.
Copying a complete label from UPS or FedEx or USPS and pasting it as an image into the Brother software results in such a low-resolution printout that you can barely read the addresses or the barcodes.
In fairness, the text and lines typed and printed from within the Brother software do print out in crisp 300 dpi output exactly as promised.
This printer doesn't act like a laser or ink jet printer and print anything you send to it (it simply stops printing instead each time you try to print from outside the Brother software). The documentation in the manual and on the Brother website doesn't clearly cover this, but instead focuses on creating a label from scratch in their software by drawing lines and boxes and typing text and barcodes each time or saving it as a template, which sort of answers the question in reverse that they don't support printing from outside by ignoring or avoiding it. That won't work with UPS or FedEx or USPS labels.
We can accidentally or on purpose send anything to our standalone Dymo 400 Turbo lablewriter and it will print, but unfortunately that company is currently limited to 2x4" labels.

No more cheap paper!.......2007-02-06
I cannot believe the difference in my photos when I use this paper! I always bought store brand equivalents (or so they claimed) to save money, but I'll never go back to those again. My pictures are crisp, bright, and durable. And it's still not as expensive as some of the premium photo papers out there. Definitely worth it!
