My PNY 256 MB CompactFlash Memory Card lasted for 3 years without a hiccup. It mysteriously died on me the other day and took a few pics with it. It lasted 3 years, so I assigned it 3 stars for quiet, dependable service. I would've wanted more reliability from a solid state device, hence the average rating.

I purchased this product almost one year ago for use with my Canon digital camera. I use this exclusively with my USB Card Reader to edit and print all of my own photos at home. So far, I have had no problems whatsoever in printing out beautiful, high quality pictures. I'm scared by all of the negative reviews and wonder if I should jump ship before it crashes! I've never tried to have the photos printed elsewhere, so I don't know if that makes any difference at all. But, I've printed hundreds of family, vacation, sports, etc. pictures that people are impressed with.

These 40x cards are great in my Nikon Pro dSLR's (D1, D1h) they write TIFF files pretty fast, anf JPEGs faster. If you like small capacity cards buy them up while you can, because finding anything below 512 is getting hard. Soon anything under a gig will be hard to find.

Lost my images on this card.......2006-07-26
After a year and 4 months, this card went bad. By this, I mean, it will store seven images, then it will shut the camera down. When I turn the camera back on, the camera indicates that the card needs to be formatted. And worse, none of the seven images I took are no longer retrievable. My camera works fine with all other cf cards, so I know it's this card that went defective. I can't recommend this card at all. It's old technology, and most cards in use today are 1 gigabyte, so why get a 12x, 256 MB card? Do yourself a favor and spend a little bit more on a quality card and you won't be sorry about lost images from your very expensive vacation. So what card do I recommend? I recommend the SimpleTech 1 gb CF card...it is totally dependable.
