So many GPS systems on the market it's hard to pick. This one seems like one of the best deals for the price mainly because you can unplug it from the car and walk around with it or use it in another vehicle. Does have some flaws in the map we noticed on route to known destinations.

If you need a gps to direct you from one point to another this is one of the best I have seen. It is easy to use, light weight, portable, accurate, and not overly talkative. Acquires satellite quickly and re-computes direction as needed if you turn off your planned route. I highly recommend this portable gps.

Well, I've never used GPS Nav so, I probably wouldn't know what to compare it to. However, it's helped me out a couple of times already. I don't use it all the time, but when I do, it seems to work fine.
The only thing I'm not crazy about, is the amount of time it takes to update between streets. It might also be that I drive too fast. When I'm going to speed limit, the updates are fine.
For my first one, I'm happy. Can't go wrong for the price. It's bailed me out of sticky traffic situations with the alternative routes.

Great performance, incredible acquisition of satellites, and adjustment of routing when turns are missed, or ignored in favor of known local conditions or slight detours. The downside is that the routing is often over roads that I would not recommend. I have not found a way to reliably make changes to routing or to have the device store the preferred route at the end of the trip, but I have not yet studied the programming options fully, so perhaps there is a way to override the preset routing choices and manually make small changes. Overall, this is an amazing device at an even more amazing price. Should be standard equipment in any vehicle.

The nüvi 360 integrates wireless technology with a microphone and speaker that lets you make hands-free mobile phone calls using your compatible Bluetooth-enabled phone. Navigation and Entertainment with Ease

This GPS system is really awesome. I bought two, one for my dad and one for my mom. My mom, who was a bit directionally challenged loves it! Instead of just saying "turn in 500 ft," it says the exact street to turn on. It gives plenty of warning ahead of time and automatically reroutes when one misses the turn. You can change the voices to speak other languages or you can have australian, american, or british english in a male or female voice. There are plenty of extras as well, such as setting spots where there are red light cameras or speed limits, there are tons of hot spots to find restaurants, entertainment, gas stations, hotels, and every other thing you would want. You also can update it every year or every couple of years with the software that Garmin puts out each year with updated roads and hotspots. Additionally, you can buy extra little add ons to the system. It is also completely portable and you can change the system to work for a car, bus, pedestrian, biker, etc. It fits right into a purse or pocket so it can be carried around and not left in the car where it will be potentially stolen. You also can buy software to navigate other countires, therefore its portability pays off if you travel a lot. Great system! I want one now!
Gets it wrong quite a bit.......2007-12-28
I've had my 360 Nuvi for a couple of weeks now and although I intend to use it mostly for out of town use where I don't know the area at all, I tested it out on familiar streets near home and was surprised to find that it didn't seem to know about a few of my most local streets (and these are NOT new streets!). One time I was coming home, and I just had it on the "map" function approaching a 4 way junction near my house. I was to go straight, however the map showed the junction as a T only. As I drove up the branch it said didn't exist, the pointer was in no-man's land. It stayed like this until I reached my house a couple of minutes later.
On a separate occasion, I set it to lead me to a destination I know, and it had no knowledge of one smallish street I always take which is a very obvious short cut.
Finally, another trip we made recently, LA to an address near Palm Springs just north of Palm Springs - the direct way is Interstate 10 pretty much all the way - I have no idea why it was trying to make me take I-15 South when we got to that junction. I really wonder what would have happened had I followed it without knowing better. After it said "recalculating" as I disobeyed it, it tried a couple of times to still steer us back onto I-15, then gave up and announced that I should proceed another 48 miles on I-10, after which it got the rest of the trip 100% correct. I found this a bit troubling somehow.
These incidents have given me pause to think that although it's neat, it's not foolproof. I'm an old fashioned map guy at heart, and can't imagine blindly relying on this without looking at a map for the big picture. In general though I think it's an amazing package and great value.

The Garmin nuvi 360 is an excellent and easy gps navigation system to use.It is the standard by which other systems are rated. Ease of use is the key for someone like me, who refuses to read the manual. Sure it would be good to have a lot of state of the art features but not for the extra cost. This device does every thing you need and keeps it simple.

My uncle has the 680 and I love it. Taking trips are all calculated perfectly. I never liked the smaller screens (3.5").
So naturally, I wanted to purchase something similar. The price is ridiculous for the 600 series. I went with the 200w because it is essentially the same unit but without all the extras such as FM modulation or Bluetooth and the travel kit. I did my research too. I found Garmin NUVI to be the best. Only downside is multi-point destinations. You can add a restaurant or gas station, (POI) or even an address. But only one on the way. They call it a via point. So you would get from point A to point C via point B. You can't route from point A to point E via B, C, and D. Which is offered on the Magellans new widescreen series.
This unit is perfect. The 200w does just about everything a GPS device SHOULD do. It calculates excellent routes, speaks clearly (I often found bad pronunciation of the TEXT TO SPEECH on the 680) and has a VERY accurate arrival time which is amazing. I mean. it was 5 mins off on a 1.5 hour trip on three highways with traffic! The widescreen makes a HUGE difference too.

Works great & very easy to use. Much easier to use than my Magellan Sport Trac, which I really like & still use for off-roading. Seem pretty accurate.
One thing it does which annoyed me on a 1,000 mile round trip journey, it re-calculated too quickly. (imagine that) Sometimes in a shopping center parking lot or when making a pit stop, it would re-calc. 2-3 times. as I was navigating thru the aisles. lol Can you say "Nitpicking?

I took the unit out of state and with each use, it took at least 20 minutes before the thing could sync with the satellites. Twice, it gave directions that added an extra hour to our drive time. It's easy to use, but dissapointing performance.

The GPS, of which production has been discontinued by Garmin, performs beuatifully, accurately, promptly and clearly. It is intuitively easy to operate even before downloading the operator's manual from Garmin. It searches for desired destinations, advises best route and guides the driver visually and manually enroute, providing estimated time at end.
Programming and storing locations for future use is quick and self instructing. Street maps including names, which are spoken when needed, are shown and zoomed in on command.
I highly recommend the device which is easily installed in three minutes and transferrable between vehicles.
Garmin assured me by telephone that service and repair is still provided.

We had bought this GPS late last year, and we loved how it worked. Having the unit actually speak the names of the streets was a big plus, and worth the extra money. We loved this unit so much, that I bought one for my brother for this Christmas. He used it on his trip down to visit with us, and enjoyed how well it worked. This products is wonderful. It makes you feel secure in the knowledge, that you won't get lost driving to an unfamiliar place, and it can look up restaurants, hotels, etc along the way too!

Great GPS for the Money.......2007-12-28
After weeks of research, I finally decided to go with the Nuvi 660 over the TomTom. I am very happy with my purchase, even though there were a few disappointments:
1. Traffic alert is relatively useless. I'm glad it comes with a 3-month trial. I will not be paying for this service. So far this feature has been less than accurate, even in Metro L.A. where we have sensors everywhere. If this is the reason for picking this product, don't waste your money.
2. FM transmitter to listen to sound over car speakers. I have to change FM stations every 5 miles because of static. I finally got smart and used my tape adapter that plugs right into the headphone jack of the Nuvi. This makes the MP3s, phone calls, and Nav directions come in crystal clear through my speakers. But I am lucky I still have a tape deck in my car. Most newer cars don't have one anymore.
3. Efficiency of directions. Most times, the Garmin will direct me to a destination using strange logic- not what I would have chosen when looking up directions through Google maps. It will get you where you want to go eventually, but if you're looking for the BEST way to a location, you may be disappointed.
This is a great tool for those who don't want to bother looking up directions and simply want to travel on a whim. The bonus features of Bluetooth and MP3 playback are worth the extra money over the less optioned models (especially for the price I paid on Amazon). If you're looking to use this as a means to find more efficient, alternative routes to frequent destinations, then you will be disappointed.
Overall, I find this to be a great GPS and I'm happy with my purchase.

I have used this GPS from the East Coast all the way to the West Coast...all I can say is that for the money it has every feature packed in to this nice clear wide screen GPS and it finds EVERYTHING! Great security features, mount, package includes every possible accessory, and also inlcudes 3 months of free traffic alerts. I did A LOT of research and testing before buying any GPS and this by all means beat my standards of quality and all the features working as it should!

I spent a lot of time researching for the best value for money and for feature richness and ended up with this one. This model has all the features that I (and I think most people need) expected from a GPS device. First of all it quickly turns on, holds on to the signal pretty well, perfect screen size, good mounting options, voice navigation that is in sync with what the display shows, nice bright display, best routes, I even tried a neighborhood where there are many ways to reach a destination and it picked the most efficient one. So I guess I am pretty happy with my purchase so far.

i managed to get one for a sale price on "cyber monday". Considering the price i have seen this unit sell for at electronic stores (even when on sale!) amazon's price that day was clearly THE deciding factor for this purchase. now, dont get me wrong, i am not an expert in any way on gps units. i am simply your average everyday user, with some basic knowledge of electronics. the nuvi 660 has in fact been everything i could have asked for, what was promised to me in product description, it has delivered. whether its traffic updates, bluetooth capabilities, etc. it has gone above and beyond my expectations. this holiday season it managed to get me around a great deal of traffic on the bridges in NY and helped us arrive with little (if any) delays. considering what the nuvi 650 sells for, the 660 is a no brainer.

The Best GPS Got A Little Better.......2007-12-28
This is my all time favorite GPS unit for hiking. I use an Edge for cycling and played around with quite a few units before I bought this one. Its display is visible at almost any angle. Its bright, clear and works well in the rain! It just doesn't get any better than the 60CSx IMHO.
good reception under trees.......2007-12-27
Got this recently and have been happy. It represents a serious improvement over previous GPS receivers, because the new GPS chip that it has gives significantly better reception under trees. It also has very good battery life. The biggest complaint I have is that you are stuck using Garmin's Mapsource software, which is damn near to worthless. The only way you can tell any topographic details is to carry, in addition to the GPS, both a printout of their Mapsource map and a printout for the same area from a real topo. It's enough to make me go with another brand. I wish Garmin would decide that they were in the business of making GPS units and not mapping software.

I have used sevearl of Garmins units over the last ten or so years. The map 76 was a good unit for it's time. My company bought over 500 of the 60 Csx units and distributed them to the field. They work great on land and water. Reception is very good and like all Garmin products it is very user friendly. Most of the reviews I have read are very accurate so I won't bore you with the same details. It is an awesome unit. I do recommend it. The ONLY drawback it has is that it doesn't float like the 76 series. The 76Csx and the 60Csx are the same exact units except for screen size and shape. The 76 screen is a little larger, but the functions and capabilities are the same on each. The sugg. retail price is the same on each. So, one would ask how to choose between the two. May I recommend the 76 series simply because my 4 month old 60Csx is in the bottom of a boat ramp in the South Texas marsh. My partner lost his just 2 weeks ago in the marsh also. I know exactly where mine is and he's pretty sure when he lost his. If they floated I know I would still have mine. If you have no intentions of using it in the water then you can't go wrong with either unit, they are both excellent.
Great All-Around Handheld GPS.......2007-12-20
It took me a long time decide on a GPS unit that would be above average in many different categories and I'm happy with my choice in the Garmin GPSMap 60CSx. I have had this unit over a year now and have only had one serious problem with it. After a few months, the power button would not work (sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldn't) and I finally had to send it in to Garmin for a warranty claim. They replaced the unit quickly and the power button on the new unit has a different feel to it making me think that the original was defective all along. Besides that problem (which has nothing to do with rating its performance), this unit has been a great companion when I travel. I have used it to hike, mountain bike, and navigate through city streets. The screen is a little small for navigating in a car, but this is a compromise considering you can put this unit in a big pocket for hiking or mounting it to your bike or boat. Many units seem to focus in one area (like only auto navigation), but this unit excels in many areas. The altimeter and compass are great supplements to the GPS capability and I'm glad that I paid extra for these features. You do have to be a little savvy and technologically aware to use this unit to its full capacity, so if you're looking for a very dumbed-down unit, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a good all-around unit for hiking, biking, boating, car navigation, and more, you should be happy with the GPSMap 60CSx.
