Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Unacceptable color "calibration".......2007-12-05

I tried the Huey on several pc's, using several different monitors(CRT and LCD). In every case, the colors were severely off. Defective unit? Possibly, however I believe that the Huey is just not up to par. Unlike other calibrators, the Huey doesn't help you manually correct your monitor. Instead, it does some display tests, and makes adjustments through software(the profile it created) to get the desired effect. In other words, it doesn't calibrate your monitor at all, it simply adjusts your pc's video output. Unfortunately, this method doesn't seem to work well.
I would suggest spending a little more and getting the Spyder2. It will actually help you adjust your monitor, not just "calibrate" through software.

5 out of 5 stars Works great on all my Macs.......2007-12-05

I'm just an average user; doing some photoshop, web browsing, etc, and this tool really makes the image much better to my eyes. I've used it on an iBook(G4), Mini(G4), eMac(G4), an old and new iMac(Intel), with Tiger and Leopard, and in each case it makes the image much better, and certainly better than anything I could do manually myself fiddling around with the controls. Highly recommended even if you only use it once in a while. It really does make the image much better to my eyes.

5 out of 5 stars great huey .......2007-11-21

The huey is so simple to use, and the color calibration on my monitor is SOOOOO much better. My pictures now print as true as I see them on my monitor. We compared the results of huey on my macbook to the more expensive system my son used on his macbook and the colors were identical. I love the huey.

1 out of 5 stars Pantone does not live up to it's reputation.......2007-11-02

I own a Mac and no matter what I did this made my monitor worse not better. The factory default setting for my monitors was the closest to true color when printing color samples. Very disappointed. In fact, I had to call Apple to get this program removed and help in getting my monitor back to where it was. I was hoping a product with the name 'Pantone' on it would produce desired results.

5 out of 5 stars Huey does the job.......2007-10-26

I recently bought the Huey Pantone. Shipment was fast. On arrival I set up the Huey, followed the simple directions and within 10 minutes had my monitor calibrated. The Huey also monitors the room light on a continuing basis as long as it is attached to the computer and reminds me once every week or so to recalibrate to maintain proper calibration for the room light. I am well satisfied and would recommend this unit to anyone wanting simple and reliable calibration for their work with photos.

Color
Color grading is in the house.

Color grading involves more than color correction. Just as different soundtracks can make a particular scene feel humorous, romantic, or menacing, the look created by a color grade can radically alter the tone and mood of a sequence. Color, Apple's new professional color grading application, makes it easy for editors to create signature looks for projects ranging from short video pieces to full-length theatrical films. Color offers the following key features:

Motion 3
Now playing in 3D.

Motion 3 takes the complexity out of 3D by extending the 2D tools you already use. With its intuitive interface and rich toolset, the only limit is your imagination. Send particles exploding through space. Swing cameras around an object with breathtaking ease. Squiggle a vector-based paint stroke in 3D through the cosmos. Motion 3 lets you create 3D motion graphics with drag-and-drop ease, startling performance, and unprecedented color fidelity. This powerful upgrade to Apple's award-winning motion graphics software features:

Soundtrack Pro 2
The next wave in audio post.

Soundtrack Pro 2 offers unprecedented convenience and power to editors. Fly through audio editing and mixing with a new, streamlined interface that combines the multitrack Timeline and Waveform Editor in a single view. Easily create immersive soundtracks with innovative surround sound tools. Automatically conform your audio edit to changes made in your video edit. With its familiar interface and intuitive tools, Soundtrack Pro is the Final Cut Pro of audio post-production.

Key features of Soundtrack Pro 2 include:

Compressor 3
Create once. Debut everywhere.

With increasing demand for media distribution in multiple formats--ranging from HD broadcast to an iPod screen--it's more important than ever to be able to output files efficiently while keeping quality high. The streamlined interface of Compressor 3 lets you quickly configure batch processes for encoding to a wide range of industry standard formats. Or create format and standards conversions at pristine quality through sophisticated optical flow technology. For the ultimate high-speed workflow, set up distributed encoding over a shared-media network powered by Xsan.

Key features of Compressor 3 include:

DVD Studio Pro 4
Simply powerful DVD authoring.

DVD Studio Pro 4 makes it easy to extend your creative vision to every aspect of DVD authoring. Whether your project is simple or sophisticated, you'll enjoy using familiar, easy-to-use tools to produce the perfect presentation of your SD or HD content. A comprehensive set of advanced features is available whenever you want more control.

Key features of DVD Studio Pro 4 include:

Post-Production Workgroups
Collaborate with a small team of editors in a boutique post-production facility. Or build a custom workfl ow for a global news network. Whether you're sharing a small number of media assets over a LAN or supporting hundreds of editors on a SAN, Final Cut Studio makes it easy for everyone to work together.

Shared Media Assets
Small workgroups can share media over a LAN or WAN by copying assets from a shared volume to a local workstation. For a scalable high-performance shared storage solution, Final Cut Studio editors can collaborate over a Fibre Channel storage area network (SAN) powered by Xsan.

With Xsan, every editor on a project has concurrent access to source media files and never needs to transfer assets between workstations. Each Mac system accesses shared files on the SAN as if the storage were directly attached. Xsan can support hundreds of concurrent clients and can easily be expanded to provide more storage capacity and bandwidth as your needs grow.

Asset Management and Workflow Automation
Meet Final Cut Server, Apple's powerful new media asset management and workflow automation software. Final Cut Server takes the headache out of managing large collections of media files, then extends to tracking job status, managing reviews and approvals, and automating complex sequences of tasks--all with Apple's legendary ease of use, and all in a single product designed to work seamlessly with Final Cut Studio.

Final Cut Server combines server software designed to run on Mac OS X with a cross-platform client that runs on either Macintosh or Windows-based computers. Collaborate over a LAN or WAN with a small number of users, or leverage the power of Xsan to share media across a large number of workstations.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Expected More quality.......2007-09-03

Final Cut Studio 2 is an inigma. On th one hand it has MASSIVE strengths and on the other it has MASSIVE weaknessess. If you are eperianced on other pro editing applications like Pro Tools or Avid you could experiance frustration ... as I do.
STRENGTHS
Final Cut Studio 2 has everthing you need to produce a great program
Final Cut Studio 2 ships with awsome content to get you up & running ... templates, presets, royalty free music and sound effects (lots!)
Intergration with the other programs in the suite makes Final Cut Pro do amazing stuff.
WEAKNESSESS
No manuals for applications that have had a major overhaul!! (Except FCP6) There are 4 manuals for Final cut Pro 6 containing far too much detail about a program that really doesn't have a lot of functionality. (there is about a quarter of an inch thick section on the audio mixer ... a mixer that has inputs, levels and pans AND NOTHING ELSE!!!! no inserts - nix!)
and yet there is not even a piece of paper for Motion, Soundtrack Pro, Live Type, Compressor and DVD Studio Pro. The brand new program - Color gets a "setup guide" but no user manual. There are pdf files woopie doo. (Oh and you can't buy them either!)
Final Cut Pro is not a user friendly cutting platform. As others have said, the User Interface is cumbersome ... eg if you want to zoom in on the cursor, you have to press 5 keys! (Cmd Shift A to desellect all, followed by Cmd + to zoom in) Dumb! and yet Soundtrack Pro is just Cmd + (even THAT is one key too many) ... but Motion has no Zoom hot keys AT ALL!!! If you want to Export from Motion or STP (and many other MAC based Programs) you use Cmd E right? NOT on Final Cut Pro! Luckily you can assign it if it bugs you (i did) So the suite integration isn't all it could be.
File Management (as with other NLEs is tricky. With FCP your files get stored on a "scratch disk" It seems to have more in comon with Avid Liquids FM system (which is terifiying!) than with good 'ol Adobe Prmier Pro.
Soundtrack Pro is Buggy ... a pity, as it offers so much and is enjoyable to work with (better in some ways than Adobe Audition) I suspect a crash caused by STP created a "head crash" on my system drive ... that caused endless problems and reinstalations before finaly having to replace the drive on my brand new MAC pro 8 core.
Speaking of installations put asside 12 hours if you are starting from scratch.

All in all Final Cut Studio is OK ... not great ... just Ok. I expected more quality and less bugs from Apple, after all there are about 6 Intel based MACs on the market as opposed to a quadzillian number of PC hardware / software combinations. Motion rocks but is still not as good as After Effects (I run AE 7) You can do better. Avid Liquid (PC only unfortunatly ... but does run well on boot camp) Pro Tools and After Effects Pro is often a better solution.

3 out of 5 stars Little difference--should have been a "point release" upgrade.......2007-08-27

I like Final Cut Pro, I like Motion, and I like LiveType. But it is as if they were written by 3 different companies who didn't expect them to work together. And sadly, this version is no different. Still if you are doing editing on Apple hardware Final Cut Studio 2 is your best choice.

This program is for the every-day editor/user, not for casual users as the learning curve is way out there. Add to that the inconsistencies between the "Studio" products and you have more learning curve issues. Sadly, the video editor which bares the studio name Final Cut Pro, is the one tool that could have used a contemporary face lift and yet it had only what I would call "point release" quality updates. Whereas Motion (which was the most user-friend and modern interface) got huge new features that are outstanding.

It seems to ne that Final Cut may be at the end of what software engineers can do with the Final Cut Pro editor itself without a complete rewrite from the grown up. But then they stand the chance of alienating their current legacy users; and as we've seen with iMovie 2008, Apple isn't too smart when it comes to cleverly updating video editing workflows.

Unfortunately, I still have to resort to using iMovie from time to time to capture video since it always captures anything from any camera, and then import it into Final Cut Pro. Whereas Final Cut Pro often imports without a problem 60 to 80 percent of the time. The other times you can spend an entire day trying to select the right "Easy Setup" to capture video. Why or why Apple does it not capture as easily as iMovie ('06)?

Is it worth an upgrade fee? Well sure if you're in the business it isn't that much of an expense. If you're counting your pennies, however (if you only do wedding videos for example and don't need the latest and greatest) you are really not missing anything by staying with the previous version. If you are considering this vs Adobe, well I'd go with Final Cut Studio and get a copy of Adobe After Effects (the CS3 version is very cool) and you'll have the best tools available for the Apple platform.

4 out of 5 stars Finally!.......2007-07-25

Using v1 for years, I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of v2. I can now confirm that FCS2 has matured to the point of being called industry ready. v1 had issue no doubt. But with so much effort directed towards Motion and DVD studio Pro, v2 has all the elements in place for serious mission critical use. Though FC itself seems to have been ignored. To date, we still rely heavily on third party plug-ins to get most of our intensive work done in FC. Soundtrack lacks. But we do very little sound. But it does have unparalleled integration and ease of use. Though the app seems a bit unstable. Certainly not as bad as mentioned above. Having used After effects CS3, I can reasonably claim that it simply does not compare. We haven't launched AE since we became familiar with the newest Motion. Now that the entire suite has been optimized to run on the 8 Core Mac Pro, we have officially listed all of our remaining Avid hardware for sale on ebay. Avid can't hold a candle. With the Pro HDVC from Apple and broadcast H.264, color correction was all that was keeping Avid alive in our studio. Now that Color is finally here along with support from Red industries, goodbye to Avid and their lackluster and unjustifiably high priced hardware. We get better results in less time for $100,000 less. Color is a bit raw, but has been the biggest difference maker. It is beyond words. Apple made the purchase for $25,000,000 and still kept the price-point the same. This is a sign of great things to come. We are no longer at the mercy of over priced hardware and overly difficult software from Avid. To top it all off, FCS2-Server was the reason why we made the hardware switch all together to Mac Pro 8 cores. It has full support for X-grid and SAN solutions. Now, if any station is unmanned, we run our own scripts to jump start the rendering on 24 cores with 48 Gigs of ram. We get final color and rendering done with a 30 minutes to 1 hour of content time ratio. Unbelievable. Just unbelievable! If the expected fixes come to Soundtrack and Color, we will be ready to move our entire Dubai fleet over within 6 months. Thanks Apple for your hard work and impeccable business ethics. You have finally done it!

3 out of 5 stars A mixed bag.......2007-07-14

Final Cut Pro 6 is a fantastic tool; a mature app with great features and rock-solid implementation.

Soundtrack Pro 2 (specifically 2.0.1), on the other hand, may be the worst piece of commercial, non-beta software (based on the severity and frequency of fatal/non-recoverable errors) I have ever had the misfortune to use. Of course, your mileage may vary, but I would advise anyone to think twice or three times about using Soundtrack Pro 2 for any sort of serious and/or mission critical application. Check the various boards/forums dedicated to Soundtrack Pro 2 and you will see that I am not alone in this estimation. Hopefully, Apple will soon see fit to patch this inexcusably buggy piece of software.

4 out of 5 stars Studio apps rock; FCP still could use a bit of work.......2007-05-21

Final Cut Studio is a fantastic suite of products, and the package just got sweeter with the release of FCP Studio 2.

Motion 3 and Color are the standouts, in my opinion, providing unprecedented power for their respective capabilities in anything remotely approaching this price range. In addition, the whole suite provides a level of interoperability that's unparalleled, and blows away any competition in the industry today.

Given the suite's fantastic breadth and depth of functionality, however, the newest iteration of the core application of the bunch, FCP6, does come off as a bit disappointing by comparison.

While the Open Timeline and ProRes 422 are notable and worthy enhancements to the FCP canon, the app nevertheless continues to be hampered by some long-standing Achilles' heels, including various media management and UI issues. While everyone has their individual list of pet concerns, few knowledgeable users would argue that notable limitations don't exist.

Especially considering the two-year "hiatus" from FCP's last major release, this is an unexpected bit of a letdown. Clearly, the hard-working Apple team focused the bulk of their efforts on the other apps, and the results do show there (as noted above). [It's also worth noting that seasoned editors who've had experience on other platforms besides FCP, and who are accustomed to more demanding workflow situations as a matter of course, tend to be more mindful of shortcomings than the majority of users who may have used nothing but FCP, simply by virtue of a greater spectrum of experience.]

However, none of this is to take away from the FCP Studio apps' overall high level of quality, tremendous synergy, and unbeatable price point. For the money, it is hard to imagine a better value in the world of post-production today.

4 out of 5 stars Studio apps rock; FCP still could use a bit of work.......2007-05-20

ILIFE 04 RETAIL

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Underwhelmed.......2005-07-02

When I received my iBook 12", I was extremely excited to bust out the iLife applications. I had heard a lot about them, and played around with them at Apple Retail Stores.

I was quite disappointed. It seems that in order to be "user friendly", Apple stripped some of the most important features. I am not a professional by any means, but some of the things that Apple removed were simply ridiculous.

iLife is composed of five main applications - iTunes, iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, and GarageBand (new in iLife 04), which I will review separately below.

iTunes - an audio jukebox which is by far the best and most complete application in the entire suite. iTunes is probably the best solution for ripping and organising your digital music, with an excellent interface, a beautiful visualiser, and Apple's famed drag-and-drop simplicity. But that's no reason to buy iLife, because iTunes is available for free on Apple's website. (***** of five stars)

iMovie - allows you to "edit" movies, which basically (in iMovie terms) means splicing clips together. I did manage to put together a complete video on this thing, but the labour was difficult and I found myself frustrated by how dumbed-down it felt. The lack of effects and filters was notable, and many times I felt like I could have done the job in half the time on Sony/SonicFoundry Movie Studio. (*** of five stars)

iDVD - a tool for authoring and burning DVDs. Because the iBook doesn't have a SuperDrive, I was unable to actually burn a disc with this program. I did drag-and-drop a few clips, but I didn't actually play around with it enough to give it a solid rating. (no rating)

iPhoto - basically iTunes for pictures, iPhoto allows you to organise and catalogue your photographs with snap and simplicity. It is extremely easy to use, automatically importing photographs and adding them to your library. The photos can then be added to "albums", which can be printed or even sent to Apple for a book. While iPhoto is quite short on photo editing tools, that's really what Photoshop is for. (**** of five stars)

GarageBand - lets you drop loops and compose music. Out of all the iLife apps, this is the one which disappointed me the most. I expected a comprehensive but easy-to-use audio editing application, but GarageBand was the worst I have ever used. Its interface is indeed simple enough, but it is extremely lacking in both "software instrument" synthesizers and "real instrument" filters. Many of the features it lacks baffle me as well - you can't reverse, pitchshift, or resample an AIFF track. (* of five stars)

3 out of 5 stars Garageband NOT unique to Apple........2005-06-23

Just to counter what one person said about "nothing comes close" on the PC. Garageband is simply Apple's version of Sonic Foundry's ACID, now owned by Sony, and you can download [...]
Garageband will even import Acidloops I'm told.

Don't get me wrong, I think the iLife Suite is great and I use both PC's and Mac's in equal measure but I get frustrated when Mac owners talk about how great Garageband and Final Cut are and how it's too bad there's nothing on the PC like it. Well, Final Cut is constantly playing catchup to Vegas Video and Acid has been around for years.

That all said, there still isn't a worthy competitor to iMovie on the PC and my iBook is my constant companion for quick and dirty video editing on the road.

4 out of 5 stars Not perfect but better than anything else.......2004-12-10

I have been a Mac User for almost 20 years and I have to say that this package is one of Apple's greatest achievements. To take so many different components (the one thing in common is the digital footprint of all the media involved) and make them work together so well.

I reviewed iLife 03 and was astonished by the melding of video, sound, and pictures. I was less than thrilled with iMovie's performance, but that speaks mostly about my older (QS 933 G4 and G3 PB at the time) equipment than it does about this software. Like that package, iLife 04 is more about the sum of it's components rather than the individual pieces. But I'll talk about them anyway.

iMovie 04: This is a much improved version of the big changes made in the 03 version. I've yet to crash it no matter how many effects and transitions I throw it. They added improved sound effects as well. If you want more than what Apple gives you, check out Gee Three for more iMovie effects and transitions packages.

iPhoto 04: Yawn. I'm sure it's much better than before..I just don't see that much difference. It is still a great photo archiver and it works with any Digital camera I thrown at it so far. Plug it in and it works. Just like it should.

iDVD 04: MUCH improved over the 03 version. New effects and the ability to add pre-video before your menus is very well done. Many new themes as well. Minor ding to Apple for not allowing external DVD burners. Guess you gotta sell those SuperDrives SOMEWAY.

iTunes 04: No real interface changes other than Smart Playlists. Very tight integration with the Apple Music Store for purchasing music online and of course if you own an iPod, there is nothing better to use than iTunes with it.

GarageBand 04: Some of the reviews here have slammed GB for not being the be-all to end-all of digital music creation. Somewhere they have forgotten a few things. Like how not everyone wants to create music from scratch for video clips or just for putting together some fun songs. I challenge them to find a program as easy to use for 50 bones anywhere else that is more fully featured. Guess what? They can't. I'm not a musician, but I can throw together some loops and effects and make something that at least I find listenable (Check out the GB tunes I made at macidol.com under artist name Guy Serle). Is it really art? Nope, and I don't claim it is. But it is fun. GB is the easiest software of this type to make music. Apple gives you everything you need to get started including 1000 loops. Many companies are now creating packages of loops in Apple's format that are drag and drop easy to install. Search for "Apple Loops" in the search engine of your choice and you'll find lots to choose from.

I took one star away for some minor issues I have that aren't really worth going into. If you have at least a G4/G5 (or even a high end G3) Mac, this is worth getting for the ridiculously low price that Apple charges. It is the best software bargain out there bar none.

2 out of 5 stars Sorry excuse for anyone who IS a musician........2004-12-09

Sure. You've read the other glowing reviews. You've seen the 4 and 5 star ratings. Okay boys and girls, now do you REALLY want the truth? As a consultant to software manufacturers who wanted to actually help folks, not hype folks, I know of what I speak ( I also hold multiple earned doctorates). One caveat: If you do NOT know where "Middle C' is located on the piano keyboard --or don't care to know--- In THAT case, this software WILL be a good investment for you. It is merely a "cut and paste" to add songs to videos, photos, whatever. But we're speaking about a company--Apple--- who STILL doesn't have a built in MIDI utility for OSX. (It is promised for the 2005 edition---but I've heard that before). If you wish to actually write chords, or play a keyboard and MIDI it into a MAC, forget it! Summary: I liked what one reviewer stated, " this is a Casio type program" . It really is. If you are non-creative type or don't have time to be creative and want a quick fix like most droitistic Americans-- purchase this program, it will help you become just like everyone else.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible software--reason alone to buy a Mac........2004-09-07

iLife is a suite of applications that turns a Macintosh into an amazing hub for managing and creating movies, music, CDs, DVDs, and photographs. And, like everything from Apple, it's truly "plug and play." Have a digital camera with some pictures on it? Plug it into your Mac through the USB port. That's it. iPhoto launches and the rest is so easy an eight year old could do it. It's fast, smoothy, easy on the eye, and flawless. With almost no effort, you can publish your pictures on the net, send them to your printer or to Kodak for printing, even create a hard cover book that will impress friends and family--a lasting keepsake. Edit your digital home movies on iMovie--a tool that is so easy and simple that you'll soon forget how powerful it is. When you're done, make a professional looking DVD with iDVD, complete with animated menus, music, and sound effects.

One warning, however, is in order. GarageBand is a full-fledged music studio that not only comes with a sizeable library of loops (from which you can construct songs), but also records real and digital instruments--along with amazing and flexible effects. However, you'll need a very powerful processor to keep up with this software. On a weaker machine, you'll run out of tracks if you try to make something complex. You also need a DVD-playing drive to install it. I'd recommend, at a minimum, a G4 Mac with a processor running at no less than 1 gHz. I wouldn't recommend it for a PowerBook or iBook.

These wonderful programs--except for iTunes, which you can download for free anyway--do not run on PCs--Macs only. And nothing for the PC even comes close.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Worst Software ever!!!!.......2007-07-09

Don't be stupid like me and waste your time with Pinnacle. If there was ever a worse piece of software, I have yet to find it. If you like enjoy a two-day rendering process, lock-ups every few minutes, and unknown errors, this is for you, otherwise look elsewhere...I wish I had.

I only rated it a 1 because there is no "0"

2 out of 5 stars Lots of Features, Tons of Bugs.......2007-05-03

Do not buy. I used it for several years; loved the features, hated the crashing and bugs. When it worked it was great. When it didn't you wanted to burn your computer. I "upgraded" to Studio 10 when it came out, and it was much much worse. Two stars for Studio 9, Zero stars for Studio 10. I switched to Sony Vegas Movie Studio 6.0 - very stable, hard to learn to use, but once you get there, it's a great program. Not for the novice though.

2 out of 5 stars Worse than a temperamental racehorse!.......2007-04-30

This is stunning software and I have wowed my family and friends with true movies that don't bore them. But this is only WHEN it works! It bombs out, needs patches all over its body and unless you disable everything and install software on separate drive, it winds down to nothing. Studio also lies - they recommend Althlon processor, but anyone who has worked with this says it needs Intel and nothing else! Thanks. Its favourite trick is to edit, save, burn dvd movies, and then refuse to make movie once a fresh edit has been completed. I've tried 25 times with three different movies. No go! Bought Ver 10 - thought this will sort it out. Loaded it - would not recognise previously made movies (came up in strange colours) and then told me to fetch a patch! Imagine buying a new car and then being phoned by the garage to say come in because the car needs to be patched! These software designers need to learn some manners!

1 out of 5 stars Waste of Money!!!.......2007-04-24

I own this software and it is worse than Windows Movie Maker. They give you a bunch of lame samples to use and then spam you to upgrade to use the ones you thought you were getting. I was very mad when this first happened because I felt ripped off, and I still do. I have made a couple movies using Windows Movie Maker and it was much better than this $100 POS software. It freezes the computer quite often and it is hard to navigate the various tools you need to make a good video.

1 out of 5 stars I had to add to the millions of bad reviews.......2007-04-16

I have spent hours and hours away from my family trying to make DVDs of edited home movies. I have only been able to burn cd's and not dvd's. Rendering takes forever! Don't waste your time on this program. The live service on line is even worse than the program itself. If this is what video editing is about - I will go back to photos.

5 out of 5 stars Great software, lots of fun........2007-06-20

Studio 9 has a wonderful user interface that, although more complex, is even better than iMovie. Complete novices will have no trouble with fundamental tasks such as capture, storyboard editing and output to DVD, even if they aren't quite sure what really is happening. For example, by simply hooking up your camcorder and hitting the record button in Studio (which is intuitively placed on a virtual camcorder), the application will automatically capture video and break it up into scenes and put them in an album. I love it and highly recomend it!

2 out of 5 stars Unable to get past registration page.......2007-04-14

I downloaded a free trial version of this product (all 500MB worth) thinking that I could quickly install it and try using it to burn a video file to DVD. The .avi file was previously captured using MS Movie Maker which unfortunately doesn't have a Burn to DVD option. After spending about 30 minutes to install, I tried to start it up. I was immediately greeted with the product registration pages and was unsuccessful in getting past them. It repeatedly prompted for the product name and version, seemingly ignoring what I typed in... After trying about 5 times, I gave up in frustration and ended up uninstalling the whole !$#$@ package. What a piece of crap.

    1 out of 5 stars Dishonest company.......2006-03-23

Do not buy anything from Pinnacle. Their software deceptively leads you to believe that you need to purchase further programs to burn DVDs. I did so and got incorrect activation codes twice before requesting a refund which they have refused to give even though the product does not work and meets their advertised return policy. I have filed a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for deceptive trade policies and knowingly offering defective products.

2 out of 5 stars Won't Install With Roxio Media Creator.......2006-01-31

When I tried to install this software it got part way through the process and then briefly displayed an error box and automatically started an uninstall without waiting long enough for me to read the error. Upon completion of the uninstall I no longer had access to any of my CD or DVD drives. It appeares that it corrupted the drivers. I had to restore my hard drive to get back into full operation. Pinnacle's response was th
