Product Description
Whether you're a hardcore adventure hiker, an avid runner, or simply looking to count your doctor's recommended 10k steps a day, an Accelerator Series watch fits the bill. Advanced accelerometer technology provides highly accurate readings of a user's speed, distance, and caloric expenditure via a simple wrist watch sensor, eliminating the need for funny looking foot pods or belt clips. Accelerometer technology is 95+% accurate, and much more dependable than traditional pendulum based pedometers. GPS-based running products are very expensive, complicated, and aren't reliable for indoor training or under heavy tree cover. The Accelerator Series is the perfect combination of accurate readings, simplicity of use, and stylish design.
Speed & Distance Pedometer
- Highly accurate step counter with adjustable sensitivity allows users to tune the sensors to their individual walking style. Doctors everywhere are now recommending 10k steps a day to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
- All sensors are contained in a simple wrist watch. That means no funny looking mechanical belt clips our funky shoe pods.
- Get off the beaten path! Free yourself from mileage markers at the track or trail! Pick a new route every day! The Accelerator can automatically distinguish between running and walking, and can calculate your average speed, distance, caloric expenditure, and total exercise time.
- The Accelerator has a delayed step counter feature that differentiates between ancillary movements and actual steps. This feature provides users with the most accurate results by delaying calculation until it has registered 10 steps in a row to eliminate false step counting.
- The smart scheduling features allows users to set the pedometer to automatically start/stop counting steps at a predetermined time every day, so you'll never forget to turn it on.
Personal Profile
- This feature allows users to customize their watch to their specific body type and walking/running style. No matter how fast or slow, tall or short, each user can personally enter their weight, average walking stride, and average running stride in order to ensure accurate results.
- Hikers can easily account for loaded pack weights.
- Runners can dial in the stride length to account for varying terrain and/or speed workouts.
- Quickly adjust weight and stride lengths as conditioning improves.
Chronograph
- The accelerator series' powerful stopwatch features allow users to record exact results to within 1/100th of a second for up to 50 laps and a total time of 24 hours.
- Although the watch has several advanced ways of calculating speed and distance, the old-school chronograph still has a place and purpose.
Countdown Timer
- A simple countdown timer can come in real handy at times. Set it for 10 minutes as a quick reminder. Use it to monitor your running/walking pace and set speed goals. Alternative Time Zone
- Great for those that travel! Allows users to set and display an alternative time zone along with the current home time display. Never lose track of time no matter where you are.
Daily Alarm Mode
- We are all creatures of habit in our daily routines. The daily alarm is a great way to set a daily reminder or morning wake up alarm.
How the Technology Works
The underlying technology in the Accelerator Series Watches is an accelerometer sensor. Accelerometers are used to measure acceleration. Originally developed during the Space Race to replace outdated gyroscopes, accelerometers can be found in a diverse range of today's products such as automobile air bags and tilt meters. In the Accelerator watch, a user's movement (acceleration) produces varying degrees of electric current within the sensor, allowing the watch to detect different levels of acceleration, and therefore measure speed and distance.
Another way to explain how an accelerometer sensor works is to envision a marble in a bowl. When the bowl is moved, or accelerated, the marble inside will roll (accelerate) along the bottom and sides of the bowl. When the bowl is accelerated faster, the marble will move a greater distance up the sides. The accelerometer sensor in the Accelerator Series watch acts like an electronic marble in a bowl. With every step forward, the wearer of the watch (bowl) is accelerating forward. By measuring the acceleration of the "marble", the software inside the watch can then calculate the wearer's speed and distance.
The Competition
There are really only a few different ways to calculate the speed and distance of human-powered, on-foot travel. The first was basic math, next came the mechanical pedometer, followed by satellite tracking GPS years later. Mechanical pedometers are cheap and abundant, but also highly unreliable. They operate on a simply pendulum clicker that relies on the walker's hip movement to count steps. Unfortunately, mechanical pedometers end up counting a lot of non-walking movements and assume that walkers are making consistent and repetitive steps.
GPS technology is impressive, but also expensive, complex, and not always ideal for outdoor activities or indoor training. Satellite signals can be lost in heavily forested areas, indoors, or behind large buildings and receiving signals eats up batteries. When a good signal can be found, often the device does not receive info often enough to account for twisty backcountry trails.
The Future
The Tech 4 O Accelerator Series fills the void between old mechanical pedometers and the overkill of GPS. A simple, yet versatile, wrist-watch design can provide extremely accurate speed and distance data in all conditions.
Customer Reviews:
Great Runner's Tool.......2007-11-25
This watch provides pretty accurate measurments once calibrated. I am doing some marathon training, and this product has freed me from planned route running. Now I can make up the route as I go, and prevent boredom. I am not ready for the committment to the price or gadgetry of a GPS getup, so this fits the bill perfectly.
Not so good.......2007-11-05
The pedometer was accurate, but the distance takes a lot of tweaking to get accurate. And even so, if you lengthen your srides or shorten them midrun, the watch won't be very precise. However, it does do a very rough job of estimating distance.
Other functions of the watch are fine, if not a little less solid than just an ordinary digital watch. It was a little large on me.
The best way to measure distance is to use an online map, or get to know your pace and measure time. It makes you a much better runner than this watch can.
Very accurate........2007-09-21
I'm 6 foot tall, and took this to a track and it's perfectly accurate with distance out of the box.
I'm torn about it resetting the pedo automatically. Sometimes it's good, as the next run I don't have to worry about it. But it times out and resets too quick, a few hours or something. Maybe make it 24 hours?
Don't use it for much else, other than the pedo function, and for jogging/running. I have never used anything else. But I'm glad I bought it and would buy it again. Does the job for me.
Tech 4 0 Accelerator Men's Running Watch.......2007-09-03
The service (order, delivery etc.) was exceptional. There was a problem with the watch which was replaced more quickly than I could believe with absolutely no hassles.
The watch is a pedometer, stop watch, watch etc. It measure steps as well as distance, speed being walked or jogged etc. Besides its about 98% accuracy, it doesn't fall off my belt as did the last 4 or 5 pedometers that I had.
Great product!!!
Excellent pedometer, but............2007-07-19
I recently started a diet and was looking for a pedometer to use while on vacation to count my steps. I looked a number of pedometers that go on your belt when it occurred to me that I had seen pedometer watches. I did a little research and found only two brands, and one received consistently bad reviews. I purchased the Tech 4 O for about $40. It had generally good reviews about the pedometer part and so-so reviews about the construction (particularly the bezel). The watch came and I took it to Toronto for a long weekend. I must say that the pedometer in this watch is RIGHT ON! It does a very good job of counting steps but you must remember to put it in pedometer mode before you start walking. On the "down" side, I bumped (lightly) a wall with the watch and the bezel popped off. I had read about that before, but assumed that the user had hit the watch against something pretty hard. WRONG! It takes very little to dislodge the bezel from the front of the watch. Rather than return the watch, I used a little "crazy glue" to re-secure the bezel and it has been fine ever since. The manufacturer really needs to find a new way to secure the bezel. All and all, I've been VERY pleased with the watch. It is a little hard to program, because it only has 4 buttons and they perform a large number of functions, but once you learn the scheme, the watch performs very well. I recommend this watch for anyone who doesn't want to bother with two devices and likes the idea of always having a pedometer handy! (BTW, beware of the Timex watch that says "Timex Watch With Pedometer". This is EXACTLY what it says, a Timex watch WITH a SEPARATE, belt-mounted pedometer! Read the ad carefully!

Beware Shipping Damage .......2007-12-26
Everything was great except the boxes of photo paper inside the shipping carton were not protected. Consequently one corner of each box was bashed and I had to return the entire order. Reshipment received with no damage but that was due to luck as the boxes were not packed much better.
Canon Paper Asst 13 x 19.......2007-12-21
While I like this Product I would like to know why the price doubled after I purchased it. This is not an incentive for future purchases
Great starter pack for your Pro 9000 printer........2007-08-22
If you shop Amazon carefully, you can get this variety pack delivered for less than one Dollar per sheet. It offers five sheets each of four different premium fine art, and semi-gloss photo papers. I was so impressed with the first pack, that I waited a week or two until I was able to get it again for a bit less than one Dollar per sheet including shipping, and ordered two more packs.
Buying two or three packs gives you enough sheets of each type of paper to experiment, and then buy the types of paper you use most often in bulk form over time, while still having a stock of less often used paper types on hand.
It is all first quality paper, and the first sheet of 13x19 inch paper to pass through your new Pro 9000 printer will drop your jaw. So will the next 100 prints to pass through the printer.
Just be careful to shop right. Within any given month, you can find the pack for under twenty Dollars, including shipping. Otherwise, you can pay more than forty eight Dollars for the pack + shipping. Don't go there....
It's ok .......2007-08-18
The variety pack is nice but no to useful if you want good 13X19 paper try the semi gloss i love it
Good Variety.......2007-05-24
I have the Canon Pixma Pro9000. I bought this item when I first purchased my printer. It's a good variety of papers to "Test" on. I was spcifically looking for papers I could multi media, Print and watercolor on. the museum Etching Paper, is the most suitable as the Photo Rag was too thin for the medium but produces crisp graphics. The Museum Etching paper is a harder feed for the printer in the top load and needs a little bit of guidence; the others are grabbed nicely. The other papers in the pack are great for photographs.
If you are looking to do watercolor technique test your paper and medium as it takes paint "differently" from standard watercolor paper. It will also not blend the printer inks which could be an advantage if that's the techinque your after.
Down-fault to all papers only printable on one side and a bit costly.

Great Radios.......2007-12-27
These radios worked as advertised. Very clear. A great way to keep in touch with your kids.
The Best Performance Available; Expert Opinion.......2007-12-21
I have owned well over a dozen of these types of radios over the last 10 years. After a recent trip to Europe (18 relatives, 6 radios between four vehicles in many different environments), I would have to say that these radios outperformed all the others in this top price class. Reception seemed to well out-perform other brands and their durability and transmission clarity was a real help in tough urban environments.
The only drawback is the proprietary, rechargeable battery pack, since you can't just slip in a set of AAA's when you forget to recharge or are far away from an outlet or car battery.
Overall, these radios offer a lot for the price and better reception makes them superior to most others in signal punching performance.
As has been mentioned, forget about 20 mile ranges on this type of radio. Even the finest, pro-quality radios get the same 2 miles in an urban or forested setting and that is the MAXIMUM you can hope for; much less is normal in dense rocks and buildings.
"Line of sight" is the rule of thumb, keeping in mind that signals often bounce around rather and through concrete and stone, behaving more like invisible "light beams". The higher you are, the better your signal will get out.
Good on distances less than 4 miles inside Town........2007-12-11
On big cities the range does not reach more than 2 miles, I had bad experience with this. They tested this radios on the Sea, at the Sea's level and no problems to blocking the signal, so them can reach 20 miles. On the big cities with all cellphones, antennas and other stuff, is hard to get good reception and good talking over 2miles distances.
On the farm I could reach 3 to 4 miles, more that this We can not talk, still good for the prices.
Good item for big factories, Malls, big parking lots and other places that require less than 5 miles inside a Town.
ok.......2007-12-01
bought to replace older motorola talk abouts. product worked well, but no better than less expensive motorola. features of radio such as calls also not compatible with all of the channels using motorola.
all in all satisfied, but feel could have bought less expensive radios and had same performance.
cobra walkietalkie.......2007-11-26
Had problems with 1st one, sent back, defective. 2nd one just got back, problems with on/off switch, quality issues. Not very pleased.

Canon BCI3e, BCI6 & Glossy Photo Paper Combo.......2007-09-29
This is a great ink & paper combo. The ink includes the 3 color cartridges and the black paper ink cartridge, but does not include the bci-6bk (black photo ink) which must be purchased separately. I am very satisfied with the Canon ink for my Pixma 4000 printer and after several years of ordering the inks through AMAZON I hardly ever buy from my local retailer (higher prices). The glossy paper is a thinner stock than the regular glossy paper, but still suffices. Overall a great value !!

The reserve battery that I purchased works as well as expected. I am very satisfied with the power I get from my 604 device which is stated for this particular product.
Archos 604 Battery.......2007-12-07
Archos 604 batteries in general don't have a long life (not active use hours when charged, but time since purchase after several use cycles).
After only 6 months or so of daily use (including playing videos), I had to replace the battery. I was very thankful that Amazon had Archos Batteries, and at an attractive price.
Very convenient.......2007-11-17

Buy a few.......2007-07-07
Buy a few of these if you're flying overseas and watch a lot of movies. They're factory rated at 5-hrs, so be glad if you get more than half of that. Like all lithium-ion batteries, keep them charged up as often as possible, and do not discharge them all the way.
Needed if you plan extended viewing: Archos 604 Battery Pack.......2007-05-14
If you are going to be using the Archos 604 for more than two hours between charges, consider the extended battery pack. For a reasonable price this add-on is definitely required. Light & easy to change.

Can't believe it works this well!.......2007-10-10
Excellent alternative to more expensive GPS's and old-fashioned 'clickety-clack' pedometers. I can vouch for the 95% accuracy. I don't like the auto-resetting function of the pedometer but maybe I just haven't figured out how to use it properly. I do like how it records data by date. Prior to use, you do need some patience and a 9-yr old child to help teach and motivate you to figure out most functions. I would ask Tech4O to come up with a model that has a better crystal. Mine is pretty scratched up and I might pay $50 more for one that's more scratch-resistant.
Just received this watch...........2007-09-16
So far, it is a nice watch, but as another reviewer stated, it is not exactly attractive. Would be nice if it was more streamlined or feminine in appearance. Clunky. Also, the band end comes out of the single loop several times a day, which is something that my husband does not experience with his Timex Ironman watch. That wristband stays put. On the positive, the amenities are really great and i am pleased with the functions offered. The screen is easy to read.
I love this watch!.......2007-08-31
I've been wearing this watch now for about 6 months and I love it! Don't think of it as a watch as much as a small computer on your wrist. The instruction manual isn't very user friendly, but the watch is easy to figure out if you just play with it. Bottom right button turns on the pedometer...press top right button to start. Viola! I wear this watch when we go on vacation or hiking to know how exactly many miles we've walked. I also use this to exercise outside...its great for keeping track of your steps, milage, and total exercise time. It can tell if you are walking or running (unlike a pedometer) so this is great for exercising. Highly recommended.
great gift for moms.......2007-06-11
my wife has used this watch now for a month AND ABOUT 70 MILES. i got it for her (or i should say our children got it for her) on mother's day. we set out immediately to use it on our walks. after making adjustments with it a few times and setting up the correct sensitivity(hers is 3)it works every time within the written 5% accuracy. in fact we once used it and found that it was about 10% off and thought it was broken, but after rolling up her sweatshirt sleeve, we found it to be within the 5% again. i am not sure whether it times out or not quite frankly since we use it for long walks ..but it is great for someone who wants to know how much they are walking on a daily basis INSIDE AND OUT. i use a gps unit and she has regularly been about 2-3% off ...BUT I CANNOT USE MINE INSIDE WHICH I THINK GIVES THIS AN EDGE : AS WELL THE COST IS GREAT!!
Great Watch .......2007-04-12
You will love this watch if you know how to read instruction manuals. If you cannot read an instruction manual I doubt you will find the watch of much use. Being that I CAN read instruction manuals I am very pleased with this watch. It helps me get my 10,000 steps per day, everyday. I do agree it would be nice if the pedometer didn't time out but it does. I just simply remember to check it often- which has become a habit for me. It sure beats all those clip on pedometers- which aren't very accurate and break easily. I was going tnrough about 1 of those every 6 weeks! I Love my Tech4O watch...now if only they could make them a bit more fashionable!

I like it..........2007-06-15
I'm not sure why there were complaints about the difficulty in programming. I did almost all the programming without consulting the directions at all, and this is my first pedometer watch. I have not used it long enough to comment on the accuracy of the counts, but we're off to a great start!
Love it!.......2007-05-28
First of all, I do agree that calibrating the pedometer if tough and frustrating. But, once you get it done right it's wonderful and accurate. There is an online tutorial that is helpful...I also called Silva directly and they were courteous and helpful.
On reviewer wrote that if over counts steps due to its sensitivity. There are 5 levels of sensitivity so you can find your right setting. The pedometer does not always count step by step...the pedometer can "differentiates between ancillary movements and actual steps. This feature provides users with the most accurate results by delaying calculation until it has registered 10 steps." So, this is probably one reason one reviewer thought it was over counting.
Just like any new gadget, there are always quirks to figure out. For me, it was worth persevering and getting the settings right. When you get your watch, open the packages and put the direction aside and head straight for the online tutorial (...)
Not Accurate.......2007-04-12
I have tried to calibrate this watch several different ways and have finally given up and purchased Nike + Ipod, which I love. This watch is too complicated to set up. I had to have the instruction manual right next to me to figure which of the four buttons to press next and how many times to get to where I wanted to go. The web site provided is not much more helpful.
The Nike + ipod was soooo simple and much more accurate. If you have a nano and $30 dollars I would definately go that route instead.
Okay.......2007-04-05
This watch is comfortable & loaded with functionality. A couple of the indicators are hard to read; You need a magnifier to see that the dot the right side reads AM or PM. It is also quite complicated to use. The directions sent with the watch are almost useless. The on-line tutorial is much better.
I'M NOT A GENIUS!.......2007-02-18
This is an extremely complicated piece of machinery. I have not gotten it to work the way it is supposed to yet. The instructions are "Yeh" long, with sub-function instructions that are not clear. I even called the company and their technitions had to look up the instructions and they were not sure how to set it up. I'm a senior citizen, but not a dummy. I want to use the watch predominately as a pedomiter, but it cuts off after a minute. I have tried to set it up like the instructions say but it is frustrating. Too much of a good thing. Sorry. Not satisfied, but I'll keep trying.
