Just a standard kit.......2007-10-30
Well these filters do what they are supposed to. They are the standard set. There is nothing exceptional or disapointing about them.
Worthy - every camera lens should have one........2007-10-06
I am a real believer in expensive lens protection. Filters do this and improve the photos you take. This small starting pack of filters is a good value for both reasons - a no brainer. Don't think about it - BUY IT!
Review.......2007-09-18
I was very pleased with the Quality. They are perfect. I'll buy more Tiffen in the future.
nice filters.......2007-08-14
These are good quality filters that work as advertised. I like the warming filter a lot more than I initally thought I would. The price for the kit at the time I bought it was the same as the price as purchasing individually the polarizer (which I really wanted) and the warming filter. In other words, the clear UV filter was a bonus.
I did not see any production problem or have any issue with the threads. The only complaint I have was that there was a little styrofoam or dust on each one straight out of the box. This is probably an issue more with my patience than it is with the product. Just clean the filters before you take them out to use them, or bring a reasonable lens cleaner along.
The case is more or less useless unless you have a wide camera bag.
Nice filters, nice price.......2007-06-02
Filters perform as expected. Nice pouch is provided to protect the filters when not on the camera. Used on the Canon S3 IS while I was on vacation. Use the UV filter to protect the camera lens. Noticed no degradation or distortion.

nice starter kit.......2007-10-17
it's definitely a great starter kit... but you can take pictures and adjust it on photo programs, so filters are kinda obsolete these days... but not all the time...
Threads Didn't Work.......2007-08-23
Everything about these filters seemed great until I tried to thread them together (as I would on the camera). The threads would not fit together. I ended up with Hoya filters which seem to work fine.
Tiffen Essential Filters.......2007-06-27
This filter set was of the high quality I've learned to expect from Tiffen. None had any flaws in the glass. The UV filter performed excellently in desert sunlight and the circular polarizer made some great water shots possible without glare. I look forward to using the warming filter in portrait settings.
great!.......2007-05-14
The Tiffen 67mm Photo Essentials Filter Kit is a perfect companion to my Nikon D200. It had been recomended by my Photography teacher.
Great set of filters with a great price.......2007-05-13
These are a great set of filters for anyone that is looking for a good set of filter, or just starting out in the world of SLR Cameras and want to make their picture eye catching.

Causes a reflection off of the actual lenses.......2007-11-12
The polarizer works well but the UV filter causes a reflection of lighted objects to appear. Most of my photos are taken at twilight or at night and this reflection has ruined many a shot.
Outstanding Bargain!.......2007-09-13
Despite some of the negative comments I've read here concerning the quality of the Tiffen 52mm Photo Essentials Filter Kit, I went ahead and ordered it anyway, and am perfectly satisfied with the Kit, in all ways.
The item was shipped direct from Adorama; the filters were extremely well packed and arrived swiftly.
I use them on my Nikon D40 with the Nikon kit lens (a 18-55mm zoom) and they fit it perfectly and perform even better than I had hoped for...the Circular Polarizer in particular is a delight to use and worth the price of the kit alone. If you've never used a decent polarizer filter before, trust me...it's a fantastic asset to any outdoor photographer's outfit and if you don't use one, you don't know what you're missing.
Besides, the use of the filter to remove or greatly minimize glass and water reflections is something that simply cannot be done *properly* in software editing packages.
The Tiffen padded carrying case (it came with 3 filters and there is plenty of room for others) is attractive, sturdy, and much better than I had imagined.
Tiffen also included an interesting and informative booklet detailing their products for photo and video filters and I am delighted to add it to my collection of reference materials.
I heartily recommend the Tiffen 52mm Photo Essentials Filter Kit to anyone interested in improving their photographic endeavors!
USA Quality for Great Low Price!.......2007-08-09
These filters are great. Made in the USA and still affordable. They perform fantastic on my Nikon D40X and the pictures are super. Many made in China filters out there are good too (even Nikon makes most of their equipment in China now also)but I was really happy with this purchase. It comes with a case for holding the filters which is also very nice quality and can fit on a camera bag strap.
Good filters, even if some redundant.......2007-06-02
This kit comes with four things:
- Circular polarizer: the filter that most people looking at this kit are interested in. While it is difficult to make a "bad" polarizer (it either works or doesn't) this one certainly is among the good working ones. Makes the sky look awesome, and takes away reflections from water and windows. Polarizer is a definite must for photographers of any level.
- UV filter: if you read reviews online, the Tiffen UV filter is generally not effective at blocking out UV. So most people just use it as an additional layer of glass, for protecting their lens. My personal philosophy is "why bother", but you may find it interesting.
- Warming filter: this is really more for the "authentic field" photographer who wants their picture to look right the first time. Any decent software can mimic this effect, so I also say "why bother".
- A four-filter pouch: there is a single pouch to store all three filters. Since polarizer is a little thicker, in effect, it's just perfect for three. Since there no individual wrappers, and I only really use one filter, this pouch just sits at home.
Overall, for a bit more than what the polarizer is retailing alone, you get some extras. I don't really find their all that valuable, but nevertheless worth the extra couple of dollars.
Regarding the build quality: I am not discerning enough to tell any aberrations in the glass. The plastic frame, though, is a bit rough along the edges, and the printed labels aren't sharp, but doesn't really affect the performance. But basically, it doesn't *look* expensive. Made in USA.
Also comes with a promotional brochure, but it's interesting 'cause it explains the effects of all current Tiffen filters, so good reading material :)
Perfect addition to a 50mm lens.......2007-04-02
Three essential filters for an essential lens (50mm). Every photographer should have one, and this set of filters is not only required, but at this price, is more than a bargain. i felt guilty purchasing it. The only reason for four stars and not five is that the pouch can hold more than three lenses. they should have filled it, and even with a little higher price, this item would still have been a bargain.

Absolutely 100% horrible filters..........2007-12-28
I decide to spend few dollars and to buy 3 filters pack that was advertised on Amazon.
After received I kind of get confused because nothing was happening when mounted on the lens. Warming filter did really not do anything except add little bit of color but that made picture look unrealistic and kind of old. It definitely did not add that nice filing and enrich colors as advertised. Then I get to ply with polarizing filter and this was total disappointment, it does do absolutely 110% nothing it is so bad to the point that I considering this to be just a perfect scam. I got about 100/150 pictures of the sun hitting ocean but absolutely nothing changed it does not mater how hard I try to adjust everything. Instructions say that I should change position and angle. I did, and there was of course difference by changing position, but no difference when I had polarizing filter on, that did not change anything. I try two lenses Sigma and Canon and two cameras Canon and Nikon and results are horrible. Don't buy it because it is definitely something you will buy and never use it.
I am returning mine....
Just as expected..........2007-10-24
I was so excited to get this filter set I had to try each out the same day. At first I didn't understand the idea of a circular polarization filter that spins. And when I first used it outside my home, it didn't seem to show much difference. I read the Tiffen booklet that came with the filters and it tells you how the polarization filter works better in certain situations than others. You also have to be a certain angle from the sun to get the full polarization effect. But once I got the hang of it after playing with it for a while, I love it.
I like how you can spin the filter because sometimes when you have the effect working while you're holding your camera horizontally, when you turn it for a vertical photo, the effect goes away. You simply turn the filter until you see the effect again, and shoot away. One time I was taking a photo of a rainbow and went to turn the camera and the rainbow instantly disappeared. It's kind of fun to play around with this. You can also add filters on top of this one, but I'm not sure how that may affect the polarization filter.
Overall this filter kit is wonderful and worth the cost since it normally costs more than this at a photo store. I haven't played with the warming filter yet, but the circular polarization lens is my favorite and probably will stay on my lens most of the time. I use this on my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi with a Sigma telephoto lens.
Further insight .......2007-02-21
This is one of the best bargains that i've seen, "essentially" you get 3 filters for the price of one. The image quality with these filters is great, the 812 (warming) filter is by far a favorite giving back the color richness that flash photography so often washes out, that is unless you have the patience for constantly tweaking your flash power. Aside from the 812 the UV protector is basically a clear protective filter. While it obviously has advantages over clear glass, I tend not to think of it as any different. This too is a great filter which I use about half the time because it doesn't affect color hues or change f stop values too greatly while it takes the worry out of carrying the camera around ready for any candid shots that may occur. Finally included is the circular polarizer. This filter adjusts the amount of uv light entering the camera by spinning the filter to the direction the uv rays are entering (or turning the thingy till things look better). This lens is great for sunny days and will take surface glare off lakes and glass making them transparent again. It also makes colors more crisp in general when photographing buildings and other large "reflective" man-made things. So things sound great so far, but now to why I only give this item 4 stars. While Tiffen is known to be one of the best at photo and video filters, they have quality control issues that do no live up to thier reputation. In my case the 812 filter arrived with a discoloration in the glass. While it was didn't hurt image quality, with the flaw being towards the edge of the filter, I none the less didn't want to find a situation in which the flaw would diminish quality. Seeing as it was not amazon's fault my first e-mail went to Tiffen for a replacement which they said they would gladly do, but only after I send them the filter and they recieve it would they ship my replacement (not an option in my circumstances). Instead Amazon's wonderful customer service shown through again, and within 3 days they had replaced the entire set. The second set arrivided without flaw but since my other two filters were in perfect condition I traded just the 812. I havn't had any other issues and i'm very satisfied with my filters. The only other word of warning would be to that of the circular polorizer. While I recieved 2 that were flawless occassionally I have read in reviews customers have received ones that were assembled backwards making the lens useless. A quick way to check to see if your CP is working correctly is to hold it, thread facing yourself, and look at an LCD monitor or TV and spin it until the picture dissapears(obviously working correctly). I still wouldn't pass up this deal knowing what I do now, chances are everything will show up perfectly but none the less if you're concerned order it before you need it and check everything over carefully. Amazon is always the best for returns and will often ship a replacement the next day with overnight shipping.
And a little further insight...
I was recently doing some black and white film photography, and decided to use my 812 warming filter as a protective lens as I was carrying 3 lenses with me. Just thought that I would mention that using this filter will produce a "White" sky in some outdoor photographs. The shots were taken with a gradient blue sky to which the entirety showed up white, even on bracketed sets, that should have shown something in one of the series. While itself was a interesting effect for some shots, it mostly just caused me frustration in the darkroom. I just wanted to add this as fair warning. I discovered this on accident, so I don't know if it applies to all sky conditions as I didn't do a lot B&W sky shots, I might test it using Photoshop later as I see they have the 812s effect built in. Anyways, good luck and have fun photoing.
More than adequate.......2006-11-10
I usually buy a set of filters for each size lens I have. Tiffen has always provided great value. These are no exception. I would recommend these to everyone.

WORKS GOOOD.......2007-12-23
well, I think it is a good buy...
filters work great...
I think it should have better case for them.. because this one is really nice but it is too big. and I dont have that much space in my bag. I would prefer 3 small cases nor this one big.
but otherwise it is great
47St Camera is the Worst.......2007-09-20
I have some of these filters I bought from a real photo supply company, they are great - but I would caution you against dealing wiht 47St supply. They don't seem to care too much about their customers. I had ordered a filter from them and it took them over a week to decide to notify me they didn't have it, despite having the item listed on Amazon. It is up to you, but I would try B&H or Adorama before I took any chances with these folks.
Using Opteka Filters on a Canon A640 Digital Camera.......2007-08-27
The flters work very well with my Canon A640. Of course having to use an adapter is somewhat of pain, it is well woth it with the difference in the quality of the pictures.
Great Product at a reasonable price.......2007-07-27
I had initially purchased a polarizing filter from a chain electronics store for $16 only to discover it wouldn't thread properly on my Canon Rebel, so when I came across these three filters for this price I was hesitant becuase I felt for the price surely the quality must be lacking, but when they arrived I was delighted with the quality of the lenses, and the carrying case that is included is exellent for protecting the filters! I am especially pleased with the flourescent lighting filter- it has been excellent for taking pictures at my son's school events. All three of the filters thread properly and have excellent resolution! I would highly recommend this product to anyone experimenting with filters in your amateur photography!

Tiffen 55mm Essentials Filter Kit.......2007-11-08
I was very disappointed after I bought this product. I was unaware that the Lens Adaptor for the Panasonic DMC FZ18, the DMC LA#3, was unavailable. I feel that Amazon should have mentioned that 55mm kit was for LA#3. DMC LA#2 doesn't fit the DMC FZ18. While would Amazon sell a product that was useless? I am still waiting for Panasonic to release the dmc LA#3. Finally, I am very disappointed that Amazon did not state that Tiffen 55mm kit worked only with LA#3, which as I stated, had not been release. Tiffen 55mm Photo Essentials Filter Kit.
Basic Filter Kit.......2007-09-03
For what I paid I am quite happy. I have had the uv filter on since I got the set. I have been shooting with the polarizer with satisfaction. I shoot up alot with the sky as the background. I like them so far althought I have not yet tried out the warmer.
The filters came faster than the adapter - the shipping was quick and the buying experience was smooth.

As expected.......2007-06-02
This is a perfect essentials filter kit for the beginner. These filters are must haves for all of your lenses.
P712 Accessories.......2007-06-02
Great addition to the Kodak P712. I like using the 812 filter the best. It works great for evening sunset shots! I generally keep the UV filter on all the time. The filters are very easy to take off and put on the lens adapter. I keep my adapter with the UV filter on my camera all the time. It gives me the flexibility to put on the wide angle or switch filters if the situation requires it. Would love it if Kodak had offered more accessory options for this fantastic camera!! Too bad it's been discontinued.
Wrong Fit to Purchase Camera.......2007-05-13
I bought this on based on an online recommendation and then received merchandise not matched to the product. This creates a big hassle for return of the merchandise.
I do have not a complaint with the actual quality and value of the lens filter set, only that it was incorrectly recommended to me by Amazon.

It's ok filter lens.......2007-12-23
The Filter is not like what i expected. i'd rather try another filter like hoya
Good basic set of filters........2007-09-24
This is a good basic set of filters.
Caution: these filters are NOT coated, so you may get quite a bit of lens flare-up when shooting in direct sun. It gets rather disappointing if you put it on some excellent lens, so I can't give it 5 stars. However, with a hood or hand blocking out the sun, you should be fine. The filters are definitely a great value for the price.
Great for 18-200mm VR.......2007-09-23
I did not had problem like others like product being dirty or anything. If you stack them you'll get vignetting. UVP is just clear protection glass as it states. Already love 812. All 3 Fits perfect on 18-200mm VR.It comes with filter holder which is great to carry around. Adorama is great. I ordered it on 17th and received it on 20th via USPS. I received it on time but USPS did not provided any tracking info at all.
Very Pleased.......2007-09-23
My Order was just what I expected. The Tiffen filteres our working just fine. great value for the money.
Good basic filter set.......2007-05-07
I bought this for my Sony Alpha A100 camera with a Tokina lens. This is a great kit and more importantly, comes with the filters that you really need. The product was as expected (no defects or faults).
For $60, this is a decent buy if you want to get started quickly.

Customer Reviews:
This is top quality workmanship! .......2007-12-07
This is top quality workmanship! The carry bag is OK but the filters are excellent. The bag does the job but isn't spectacular. The filters on the other hand are quality. I would only buy Tiffen or the camera manufacturer's filters. Those are much more expensive though. I think the Tiffen's do the job.
Decent filters, but couple of issues 2 be aware of........2007-11-29
I bought these filters for use on my 35-100mm F2 Olympus lens (70-100mm 35mm equivalent at the same time of purchases from Amazon. It is a good deal, on some decent filters.
They come with a carry folder/case, which is nice and padded. Over several months time though the inside netting wore through in 5 places between the filters. I do allot of hiking though, so if kept in different conditions I am sure this wouldn't be a problem.
The filter work pretty well. but I ended up purchasing a separate Circular Polarizer (CP) filter due the very shallow threading on the front of the CP. The problem that this caused was my lens cap would fall off the CP with the slightest bump. This isn't a problem with the other filters.
I ended up going into a camera chain store to buy a different CP to keep from loosing another lens cap. I defiantly paid much more for the replacement filter, but I am not replacing lost lens caps now. So it end up being cheaper for me. My new filter is a Tiffen as well, but seams to be a higher quality model. The lens cap for my lens is fairly deep, most high end Nikon's are the same way. If your lens cap doesn't need to set back into the front of the lens or filter more than 1/8 of an inch you defiantly won't have this issue. And again it is only with the CP.
These filters a good in my opinion for most people. If you are shooting for fun, not a very serious photographer, or very picky like me then defiantly get them. They are a great deal. If you demand higher filter resolution for VERY fine high resolution detail. Then buying the higher end Tiffen or other lens filters. The issue is they can cost more than this whole kit. Most people honestly will have no issues with these filters.
great filters.......2007-05-16
I have used Tiffen filters in still photography for a number of years now and I've been very satisfiied with thier performance. This kit was offered at a much lower price than the leading on line camera stores.Plus they are made in the USA
Vignetting.......2005-07-11
While this filter kit does a fine job with doing the filtration these 3 filters were designed for, you can be guaranteed that when you use them on wide angle and ultra-wide angle lenses you will get vignetting. Vignetting is the darkened areas around the edges of your photographs. This is caused because these particular filters have threads in front of the filter glass which partially block the light coming into wide angle lenses when set at their widest setting. I normally like this type of filter because it allows me to replace the lens cap, thus allowing me to leave the filter on the camera's lens all the time - one of the prime reasons I like the UV lens - lens protection. The alternative is to purchase an ultra-thin lens which doesn't have the threads on the front, doesn't cause vignetting, but doesn't allow you to replace the lens cap. So, as you can see there is a trade off. Do you want to leave the lens on the front when you put the camera away for the moment, but have to remove your filter as well....what a pain at a sporting event or where you need your camera to be ready all the time. Or, do you want to be able to replace the cap on the front and protect the filter when you put the camera away or replace lenses, but realize you can't shoot at your wide angle lens' widest setting due to vignetting? Tough choice. I've done it both ways. There's no real happy medium....just a choice.
