Christmas Gift.......2007-11-24
The Nikon binocular was received on time and after looking it over, we were impressed with the quality.
it is very good quality for the price.......2007-11-21
Pretty good, I used it to watch USOPEN games, very good to see every corner of the court. I like it.
Great Binoculars.......2007-11-20
These binoculars are great. They are a bit larger than I expected, but that's my own fault for not reading the dimensions in the description. I originally purchased these for use at hockey games, but they're too large for that. Instead I'll use them for viewing wildlife, etc around the house. I just watched a coyote having breakfast and then roaming through the field. Without the binoculars, I woulod have lost sight of him a lot sooner. I'd highly recommend these binoculars, but make sure you are aware of their size.
Fully satisfied.......2007-11-14
Bought this binocular mainly for birding and it was money well spent. Very easy to tuneup on the run. The objective lens is quite big (40mm) and gives good detail. Magnification (8x) is perfect for birding. It works very well in low light thanks to the 5mm exit pupil, and has a decent field of view. Btw, we used this binocular to spot comet Holmes in late October night sky. One slight drawback though is that the lenses fog in very cold weather. But in summary, we love it!!!
Excellent optics, sensational value!.......2007-11-02
The Nikon Action 8x40 binoculars are terrifically sharp and bright and are a tremendous value compared to the 'bargain' binoculars offered by other manufacturers in this price range. This binocular is a sturdy, durable-feeling handful that comes with an excellent strap and solid covers for both pairs of lenses. Very sharp, accurate color rendition, easy and rapid focus. A Nikon product worthy of the name.

bushnell 16X50.......2007-12-23
very good value. sharp images as long as you brace your arms; 16X also magnifies the shakiness 16 times! probably not as good as leupold or swarovsky, but at under $100 a little forgiveness is justified. a great item to have handy when traveling.
Decent Binocular.......2007-12-21
I had bought this bushnell binocular mainly for star gazing. It didn't help me that much on that. May be I had higher expectations on this item, since I'm a novice. I was expecting the order of magnification like I saw in TV cameras when they zoom in on moon during sports telecasts. But this item is still worth for the money. I could use this to see moon and Mars so far with decent magnification.
Only thing to make sure is hold a steady hand when using or use a tripod.
Focus tab is not really a hinder as others in the review had mentioned.
Very nice!.......2007-12-13
I bought this for my husband as a gift. He enjoys it very much. The resolution is clear, and it's easy to adjust while viewing. Well made yet lightweight. Good product.
Great Buy!.......2007-12-11
I purchased this for my husband and it is well worth the money. I will probably be purchasing a couple more. If anyone is looking for a great pair of Binoculars, look no further.
Very Pleased.......2007-12-03
I bought these for my husband to hunt with. He is very pleased with them.

So Good, I'm going to purchase another..........2007-12-27
Great looks, compact and very functional. I'm so pleased with my purchase I'll buy another one for my boat. It's so easy to stow away.
These binocs are a good pick........2007-10-22
I love these binocs. Very light and compact, and they work quite well. I've had larger binoculars in the past that are heavy and clunky - and it seemed I could never see well with them using both eyes at once. The Olympus Outback 8x21 binoculars work well, are not tricky to use, and are easy to take anywhere.
Binoculars.......2007-09-28
This product is excellent and the price is Great!!! Consumer reports gives these binoculars a high rating and I do to!! Thank you
Amazing.......2007-09-02
They far exceeded my expectations. Consumer Reports got this one right. Now my wife wants her own pair as does my mom.
Binocular purchase review.......2007-08-31
I was well-satisfied with my purchase of the Olympus Outback RC1 binoculars. The price was reasonable, and the quality of the product is excellent.

Great Buy!.......2007-01-10
I bought one for my son at 5 yrs and he still loves it at 6.5 yrs - they no longer sell them in NZ but I so wanted one for my 5 yr old nephew that I was glad to find them on Amazon!
Much ado about nothing.......2007-01-10
I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my 9 year old grandson...While I didn't expect it to be state of the art..I did expect it to live up to its hype. It did not. My grandson complained of not being able to see anything..hard to focus....a piece of colored plastic over a cheap pair of glasses would have produced the same "night vision."
My kids loved it, encourages pretend.......2005-09-11
My kids really liked this. I gave it to my son for his 5th birthday. He and his 3yo brother love to play pretend spies or ship captains, etc with these as regular binoculars or in the dark with the "night scope" (flashlight) feature. They don't know what real night visions looks like and anyone who expects real night vision for a kids toy at this price is going to be disappointed, but most people wouldn't be expecting that! Doesn't matter to the kids, they just like this toy.
this stinks!.......2005-06-22
This toy sucks! The ''invisible'' light is just a light! People notice it and it is not fun. trust me
A good gadget.......2004-02-11
If you want to get a good look at what's crawling around in your backyard at night, if you have a strong desire to play a prank on your older brother at midnight, or if you just want a way to get to the fridge without using that REALLY, REALLY noisy light switch, has Wild Planet got a toy for You!!!! The spy night scope is good for taking a closer look at things at night. It features magnificaton and a pop-up light. And for those covert missions, there is a green stealth light that dimms-down the total radius of the light beam(and it looks stealthy). I've had this for a while, and it only takes 2 AAA batteries. And for those of you who are REALLY into Spy Gear (like I am), check out the SPY MICRO KIT, the XP-4 SPY PEN, the XP-5 SPY WALLET, and the SPY BUG.

Measure from ball to pin, not ball to pine. The secret to a good round of golf is making accurate shots - not easy when the pin is competing with the trees around it for your rangefinder's attention. Next time, pack along the new PinSeeker. It's accurate to +/- one yard from 5 to 1, 500 yards away and will range directly to the flag, not the objects behind it. With two Selective Targeting modes, you'll get the shot you're looking for, every time - no worries, hazards or mulligans necessary.
Amazon.com Product Description
Your Bushnell Pinseeker 1500 is an advanced premium laser rangefinder comprised of digital technology that allows range readings from 5 to 1,500 yards. Measuring 1.7 by 5.1 by 3.7 inches, the 10-ounce Pinseeker 1500 delivers superb and accurate range performance to +/- one yard. The Pinseeker 1500 features Selective Targeting Modes, superb optical quality, 100% waterproof construction, and Bushnell's RainGuard coating.
The Pinseeker 1500 emits invisible, eye-safe, infrared energy pulses. Its Advanced Digital microprocessor and ASIC chip (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) results in instantaneous and accurate readings every time. Sophisticated digital technology instantaneously calculates distances by measuring the time it takes for each pulse to travel from the rangefinder to the target and back.
The ranging accuracy of the Pinseeker 1500 is plus or minus one yard under most circumstances. The maximum range of the instrument depends on the reflectivity of the target. The maximum distance for most objects is 1,000 yards, while for highly reflective objects the maximum is 1,500 yards.
The Pinseeker 1500 features a powerful 7x magnification monocular for viewing your target. Optics are fully multi-coated, allowing maximum light transmission for optimum brightness, superb resolution, and contrast for a clear vivid image even in low-light conditions such as dusk or dawn. A liquid crystal display (LCD) is mounted within the optical system and, when activated, displays a reticle for targeting, yards and meters, and Mode indicators.
Laser Rangefinder Features
Standard with Automatic Scan
Scan across the course while viewing a continuously updated LCD display of the distance between you and your target.
Meters/Yards
You can quickly choose between these standard measuring units with a simple press of a button.
Reticle
The distance to objects targeted in these crosshairs will be displayed on the Distance Readout with the press of a button.
Battery Indictor
Flashes when battery power is low.
Target Quality Gauge
Gauge indicating amount of energy pulses being received back from the target.
Pinseeker 1500 Targeting Modes
BullsEye
Geared for close-range use, this mode acquires the distances of small targets and game without inadvertently measuring background target distances. When more than one object is acquired, the closer of the two objects is shown on the LCD display.
.
Brush
Ignores the foreground, such as brush, boulders and tree branches, and provides distances on the LCD display to background objects only.
.
PinSeeker
Designed exclusively with the bottom of the cup in mind, this mode allows easy acquisition of the flag without inadvertently capturing background target distances. When more than one object is acquired, the closer of the two objects is shown on the LCD display.
.
Laser Rangefinder Tech Talk
A laser rangefinder is a distance-measuring instrument that uses laser technology to calculate the distance to targeted objects. Accuracy is +/- 1 yard, and the distance is displayed instantaneously on a built-in, through-the-lens Liquid Crystal Display.
How a Laser Rangefinder Works
Bushnell's Yardage Pro rangefinders use an invisible, eye-safe Class 1 Laser beam (as classified by the FDA) which is "bounced" off distant objects with the press of a button. Then, the rangefinder's high-speed digital clock measures the time it took for a laser beam to reach a target and return to the unit. Next, using advanced digital electronics, the rangefinder instantly calculates the distance within +/- 1 yard and shows the range in either yards or meters on a through-the-lens LCD Display. The entire process is so fast that less than a second elapses between the time you press the button to generate a laser beam to the time the exact range to your target is displayed.
Reflectivity of Target Types
Because rangefinders "bounce" a laser beam off the target in order to take a measurement, their range is partially determined by the reflectivity of the target. In other words, hard or "reflective" targets -- like a rock cliff or semi-truck -- can be measured at greater distances than soft surface targets, like a deer. Ranges for moderately reflective targets, like trees, fall somewhere in the middle. Most experienced hunters will use their rangefinder to frequently estimate ranges to near and distant landmarks before they actually encounter a game animal. By "pre-measuring" ranges to spots where a trophy is likely to appear, they can concentrate on making an accurate shot when the moment of truth arrives.

Works great watch out for battery door to fall off.......2007-12-07
The battery door design on this unit blows. It fell off on the golf course.
Now I have duct tape holding the battery in. I will be writing Bushnell for a replacement, we'll see what happens...
A substantial improvement over earlier iterations of this same product........2007-10-08
This is a beautifully constructed laser instrument for accurately measuring your distance to the pin or to any obstacle on the course. It works significantly better than the older version of this same product locking in much quicker plus it can find the flag MUCH easier.
My dad and I both use this when we are playing golf and find it to be completely reliable. You will also find additional uses for your Yardage Pro Laser Rangefinder. I use my for sighting in my rifle and for all sorts of other things.
One small downside. You do have to drag it out and sight in every time you need a measurement and that does get a bit tiresome. The GPS units that are on some golf carts on some courses are VERY convenient but do not give precise yardage to the pin and other objects.
I heartily recommend this product! It delivers exactly as promised.
What a great tool!.......2007-10-02
My wife and I bought the Pinseeker 1500 and we love it. I'm an 8, she's a 13. We both agree it saves us at least 2-3 strokes per round. It's very intuitive and easy to use. She "hits" targets with the laser for me and I "hit" hers. Saves time for both of us. We used to use course yardage markers and eyeball targets when we couldn't find those. Boy, have we found that both course yardage markers and our "eyeball" estimates were off sometimes. Now we know the yardage to the yard and that really gives us a lot of confidence in our club selection. This tool removes the guesswork and will save you strokes. Well worth the money.
The best rangefinder out there!.......2007-09-17
This is my 3rd Bushnell rangefinder since 1998. The 1st one I bought is the 1st generation Bushnell, which is very bulky, but very durable. After 6 years of use, I upgraded to the Tour-XL in 2004. The Tour-Xl is a much better device than the 1st generation rangefinder. It's smaller in size, and can pick up the flags in distance in the Scan mode (in most cases, the 1st generation one can't give a reading to the flag 200 yards out because of hand shake). But you have to hold the fire button to search for the targets. It usually takes 3~4 seconds. In tournament play, pace of play is very important, these 3~4 seconds sometimes seem a little too long.
This Pinseeker does a lot better job than the Tour-XL in picking up small targets. And it does it easy. You just need to press the fire button once and aim it aound the target. It will give a reading almost immediately. It works great for me so far. Plus, this Pinseeker has a rugged design. It feels very solid and durable in your hands.
Worth the Price.......2007-09-13
It is true, one of the best rangefinders out there. I bought one because I golfe with someone who had something similar, but after using this one, I feel it is better. The adjustable eye piece is great. 7x magnification, and accuracy.

Good and Reasonably Priced.......2007-12-27
We purchased these cute binoculars for a recent trip we took. We wanted something light and compact to put into my pocket book just in case we wanted a closer look while sightseeing. They were perfect as we went to Sedona, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas and we would have definitely been disappointed without them. These binoculars had a very good view and steady feel. We got a really close look at the condors soaring over the Grand Canyon. We found the binoculars to be of good value and performance.
better than decent.......2007-12-12
Bought as a gift for my father. he needed something small and lightweight which these are. I dont know how clear and how crisp the ocular qualities are, as Ive not been the one to use them. But he hasnt had any complaints.
Broke after 2 uses and exit pupil too narrow.......2007-10-20
I've only used these twice and the 2nd time was star gazing and the focusing mechanism in the left lens stopped working without an apparent cause of damage. The small exit pupil diamater has always resulted in serious eye strain as well, making perfect alignment a requirement for getting any usable images.
You get what you pay for.
Opera Goer.......2007-10-02
I bought these binoculars as a companion to the opera. I used them yesterday for the first time, and I must say these do the job just great. The size is very small, so you can put them in a small purse, and the touch and design of them are very delicate. I was sharing them throughout the whole performance, and I did not have any problem at all with the focus; they were in focus all the time. I did not know much about binoculars, so I did some research online before buying. I found out Bushnell was a very reliable brand, and the price of these on Amazon is just great ($19.99 while I am writing this review). I wear glasses, so I have to take them off to use them properly; but that is just fine with me. My seats at the opera this year are among the worst, because I wanted to see the whole season for a cheaper price, so I needed to make sure I got binoculars. I am completely satisfied with these, and I do not need any fancier or more expensive ones.
Binoculars - Bushnell folding.......2007-09-07
It takes just a little bit of adjusting to get it focused but it is fine for me to use whenever I need it.

Customer Reviews:
great optics, questionable construction.......2007-11-06
I bought these to replace a pair of Pentax 8x42 WP's which I had scratched. For the money, I don't think you can do any better for optical clarity and resolution, in my amateur opinion. Not 'wow' better, but did seem a tad brighter than the Pentaxes. They are amazingly light and the overall ergonomics were good so I enjoyed using them. That 'quality feel' was lacking when compared to the Pentaxes, for whatever that's worth, and I don't think it was the lack of 'heft'. The twist out eye cups worked well when full out or in. The diopter ring was stiff and not so user friendly, it doesn't lock but won't likely budge anyway.
So why only 3 stars? For it's price class it deserves 5 stars, but my example began fogging internally on an Elk hunt in otherwise benign conditions. A fluke? Others on the net have noted significant variability within the model line suggesting quality control issues with these Chinese made binoculars.
I returned them to my local Cabela's and was refunded without question so did not deal with Nikon directly (25y warranty, FYI). If I can't find a better bin for similar money (considering Eagle Optics Ranger's, Vortex Vipers, Bushnell Elite e2, etc...), I may get another pair, after looking through several at the counter and doing my own 'testing' once I get them home. Hope that helps.
probably the best you can get for that price .......2007-07-25
An excellent binocular. Great color definition, pretty bright an wide field of view, soft and rapid focussing central knob, good close focus distance and nice and practical lens caps. They also have a nice ruber covering which feels very good on your hands and may be an effective shock absorber. The case is also ok and another great feature: they weigh only 620 grams.
I finally picked up these binoculars from the Eagle Optics Ranger Platinum 8x42, which I have used before getting a very nice impression, and I can say the Nikon Monarch 8x42 are at least as good as the E.O. Ranger Platinum. I think this is the best you can get for such an affordable price and I feel very pleased with these binos.
Excellent.......2007-07-19
I brought these about four months ago and love them. The main reason I brought them was for bird watching. I spent a bit of time researching, as I wanted a good pair of binoculars. They have a really nice fell and weigh 689grams with the strap on. I've dropped them once and there was no problem. Not long after I got them I took them with me on a Safari to Mali, Africa. The first evening I used them I was standing on a hill looking into a valley while the sun was going down. When I looked through the binoculars I could see all the villages around that were made out of mud and people where walking around their little village. Without the binoculars I could not see the small villages nor the people. The optic quality of these Binoculars is really good. They really bring the colour of the birds out. I showed my father in-law, the binoculars, who has been bird watching for 30 years and he said they were really good. For the price you pay the quality is great. Sure you could go and spend $2,000 on a pair but if you lost, broke or they got stolen then you would have a few teary nights. With these I wouldn't loose too much sleep if something happened to them. Besides the way how technology works the $2,000 optics will be
< $500 within 10 years or so. I looked through a few pair of expensive ones and can't say that they deserve $2,000; yes they were better but not 5 times better. Unfortunately I couldn't buy these on Amazon as they don't send them overseas. If you live outside of the US and want to buy them go to Binoculars.com as they send them overseas at a reasonable price.
Outstanding binoculars, but ..........2007-07-18
The quality of these binoculars is outstanding, and they are especially useful for those of us who wear eyeglasses. However, the lens caps are a real pain - just wont' stay in place, and the case provided is too small to cram in the binoculars and the lens caps. We bought a separate case to solve that problem. A great product - Nikon just needs to spend a little money to upgrade the "accessories."
Impressive.......2007-06-16
I bought these binos after extensive internet research. While not an optics expert, I really like these. Images are very, very sharp and plenty bright. Lightweight and fairly compact. Only downside is the rear caps are completely useless. Bought them for my wife for birdwatching. Highly recommended if your budget allows.
