Great camera.......2007-12-28

I like to believe that I take nice pictures, but when it comes to this camera, I can take a picture of my shoe and it looks amazing. This is my second Canon PowerShot SD800 camera. I dropped the last one in the ocean! I love this camera, it is small, light weight, great battery life. There are many features to choose from, it also takes pretty good video with sound. The only think I don't like is the flash options. It's either "automatic" or "off". There is no "on" for the flash.

Dust Spots.......2007-12-27

Overall, this seemed like a great little camera but I ended up returning it. I took 100+ pictures when I first got it and at least 3/4 of shots using a flash (50-60 pictures) had numerous spots from dust in the air being illuminated by the flash. These spots ranged in size from small to very large. Regardless of how good everything else was, I couldn't see keeping it when numerous pictures were trashed because of this. Supposedly, this isn't that uncommon of a problem with digital cameras, although I've never seen it with my previous digital.

This is the best pocket camera I have owned. It has logical and clear menus for manual settings as well as fine images on default. And it is faster than similar cameras I have tried. I liked it so well I bought two additional cameras as gifts for special people.

I bought this one is because of it's low price & good quality. I got a D70s from Nikon with me, but the compact cameras from Nikon suck. No IS, no nothing.
So if you have a DSLR, don't compare the image quality with this Canon compact one. I can say that the image quality is acceptable while shooting outdoor with 28MM wild angle :)

Add on the fact that you can use this one a PC with a simple $20 accessory that auto discovers up to 4 controllers, and booyah! this is so cool, just like the other side of the pillow (props to stu scott, ESPN). go get one :)

I purchased this camera for myself as a christmas gift. This camera is easy to use and take great pics. It even takes excellent pics at night. Compared to the camera I had before, this camera is a huge step up and i paid only a few dollars more. I love Canon and I think this camera would be a great buy for the money!! I received my canon a560 on time had it only about a month takes great pic a little bigger than most point and shoot digital camera. But I am able to handle very well not as big as i thought. Would give it 5 stars if it had picture stabilizer.

Garmin c340 performance.......2007-12-28

The GPS, of which production has been discontinued by Garmin, performs beuatifully, accurately, promptly and clearly. It is intuitively easy to operate even before downloading the operator's manual from Garmin. It searches for desired destinations, advises best route and guides the driver visually and manually enroute, providing estimated time at end.
Programming and storing locations for future use is quick and self instructing. Street maps including names, which are spoken when needed, are shown and zoomed in on command.
I highly recommend the device which is easily installed in three minutes and transferrable between vehicles.
Garmin assured me by telephone that service and repair is still provided.

We had bought this GPS late last year, and we loved how it worked. Having the unit actually speak the names of the streets was a big plus, and worth the extra money. We loved this unit so much, that I bought one for my brother for this Christmas. He used it on his trip down to visit with us, and enjoyed how well it worked. This products is wonderful. It makes you feel secure in the knowledge, that you won't get lost driving to an unfamiliar place, and it can look up restaurants, hotels, etc along the way too!

The 80GB Zune is very easy to install, software, sync and navigate. I've owned various Ipods & Creative Labs MP3 players and the Zune is by far the best. Most importantly the sound quality blows the Ipod touch away. Another reason to buy this over the Ipod is that it easily syncs with Mp3's and doesn't change the file type using up tons of hard drive space like Itunes does. I'm blown away by this player.

Shipping was very fast for the product. Music quality is very good and the big 3.2 in screen looks amazing. Glass certainly beats plastic. The included earphones work pretty well and the FM radio feature is really nice. The big letters of the main menu look great and its handy how you can set your own wallpaper unlike the ipod. Zune defeats the ipod classic hands down

The Zune itself is a well designed, high quality device that more than met my expectations. It also produces excellent sound quality in comparison to playing a CD off of a DVD/CD player.

The software, however shows a major lack of oversight on Microsoft's part. As soon as I turned the Zune on I discover that you can't do a thing with it without downloading the related software. Once on the site it becomes clear that this was done in an attempt by Microsoft to have the customer give basic personal information, join up with the social network and sign up for various services. Once I downloaded the software I had to make a phone call to tech support because the program did not display correctly. They explained that my computer, and most others that are not brand new, are not compatible. The only solution is to make some adjustments that create a version of the software that will make you feel like you're back using a shareware program on Windows 3.1. In conclusion:

Pro's: The Zune itself is perfect all around

Con's: The software is a joke and the online download/registration makes this device inappropriate for someone without a high speed internet connection. If you're looking for a simple-click and drag system to put your CD collection onto a player do yourself a favor and go with a different brand such as Creative.

Zune 80 a great mp3 player but needs some finesse.......2007-12-27

I own 6 iPods, an iRiver Clix 2 and now a Zune 80 and here is what I think of the Zune after one week.

Pros

Navigation with twist interface much better than the interface on the new iPod nano's and iPod classic. I can't stand the split screen.
Brushed aluminum back: This is one of the best features, I own 6 iPods and I scratched every single one of them within 15 minutes of taking them out of the box and I baby my electronics!
Glass screen: another plus, all my iPods(save my iPod touch) I have scratched the screen within a week or so of owning them.
Zune pad: I love tactile feedback, my iPod touch is frustrating sometimes because it attracts smudges and fingerprints with all the "touching". I also love being able to swipe to change a song or menu on the Zune.
Stock ear buds that are actually worth keeping/using
Wireless syncing was easy to setup and use but I seriously doubt I will ever use it.

Cons
Build quality is nowhere near the iPod. The Zune 80 feels toy like.
My Zune has frozen during use 3 times in the 5 days I have owned it which required a reboot( ala holding the back button down while pressing up on the Zune pad)
Zune software installation process. On Vista Home premium it took me over an hour to get the software installed(I work in the IT Field so this should have been a no brainer). Another hour to figure out how to get all my album art to show up on Zune 80(Erase all content and resync device after rebooting computer).
Zune marketplace software has been dumbed down way too much. Microsoft could have just cloned iTunes and it would look better and be a lot better laid out/organized.
Wifi sharing: I think it will be many years if ever that I find another person with a Zune that I can/want to "squirt" a song to.
Only works with Windows. Thankfully I now have a Intel Mac and am able to run Vista in Bootcamp. Before when I only had a Powerpc Mac I had to admire from afar. If they made the Zune cross platform I have a feeling more people would try them out.

In closing I enjoy the Zune 80GB and its interface over the new iPod Nano and iPod Classic, however it could use more advanced settings options, an equalizer, and the video playback needs some tweaking(When a video ends on the Zune it doesn't do anything. On the iPod it kicks you back to the video menu.)

Just one GRIPE... Doesn't support DivX/XviD playback!.......2007-12-27

Everything about this thing is GREAT! But it really lags behind in MEDIA SUPPORT!

I mean COME ON! It can play almost every video format, including iPod MP4's, MPEG-4's and M4A's... BUT NOT DivX/XviD?! CREATIVE's ZEN's play DivX/XviD videos! But other than that, this think is PERFECT! I got it for Christmas, so that was awesome... DIDN'T have to pay for it. But yeah!

Besides the fact that is not the way of the future because of the lack of DivX/XviD playback, it will still continue to thrive in the social era!

So, about a 3.5 out of 5 for me... Yes, because of the lack of DivX/XviD playback... YES! That is the reason... Otherwise it'd be a full 5 Stars!

This little camcorder is great and is very useful when you want to record your friends but dont want to have to carry around a big clunky video camera. Product works great recording shorts videos. Had some trouble using it with a MAC but it worked overall.

Some Problems with Software, But A Good Camcorder.......2007-12-28

I have had the Flip Ultra since October 2007. I purchased the camcorder based on the strength of the positive reviews I read here and elsewhere. Since October, I have regularly used the Flip Ultra creating and downloading many short clips to my computer. I even brought it with me on a business trip. Like others, I have experienced similar software issues. Last week, I loaded the upgrade and the firmware upgrade and I haven't had any problems since then. I did have a problem with Pinnacle Studio (9.4) not playing the audio to my video clips, but I downloaded some video conversion freeware from Prism to convert the files to mpg format and all is good.

For Christmas, I set up 3 cameras - 1 high end DV camcorder, 1 middle of the road DV handy cam, and the Flip Ultra - to film all the present opening memories. I then captured all the video on my computer and using video editing software, I combined and edited all the video to create an interesting movie of the event. There were 2 different camera angles (camcorders) and close ups (Flip Ultra) and the room lighting was medium to low. I have to tell you the quality of the Flip Ultra clips compared to the DV camcorders was on par if not better than camcorders costing 2 to 3 times more. In fact, in the low light, the Flip Ultra clips were much brighter and colorful.

I rated this product 4 stars because of the software problems (now resolved with the updates) and the file compatibility with Pinnacle Studio (also resolved). Although the software is basic, it is functional and I have even used the make movie and capture features with results much to my surprise and delight.

I recommend this camera to anyone wanting something quick and easy to use and readily available - less than 4 seconds from turning on to recording.

The coolest thing I've ever purchased.......2007-12-28

I wanted to get my husband a birthday gift that he would really enjoy and use often. I chose this after reading many reviews on Amazon and I couldn't be happier. He's using it for video podcasting, home recording of our family, to record clients progress (he's a fitness expert) and also for video's to have on his website. He loves it, and frankly I'm sort of jealous and now want one of my own!

This is absolutely the easiest camcorder you'll ever use. Both for shooting and also for uploading to your computer. And the video quality is amazing considering how durable and inexpensive it is. The fact that it takes AA batteries means it's convenient to always have some ready or purchase at a drug store, as opposed to having to plug in and charge a typical camcorder. And unlike a typical camcorder this one fits in any pocket, purse, bag or briefcase and is easy to always have on you.

Definitely get the "ultra" version - according to the reviews I read it's a better made machine. Plus, it works great with the optional tripod (tripod isn't compatable unless it's the "ultra") And you'll certainly want the most recording time available which right now is 60 minutes. I think eventually they'll make a model that will be compatable with "cards" which is the only improvement this thing could use. Otherwise, it's perfect. Great gift for adults and even youngsters/teens since it's so tough yet easy to use. And it'd be awesome for a new parent. So easy to throw in diaper bag and always have it handy to capture those adorable spur-of-the-moment things your baby does. You can even get an optional strap and attach it to the handlebars of a bike. Awesome!

Poor Software Support for Flip Video Ultra 60 Minute Camera.......2007-12-28

Yesterday, December 27, I spent at least 3 hours trying to sort out the mess called the Flip Video "Ultra" 60 minute camera. It involved at least 3 calls to tech support lasting a total of about 2 hours. Knowledge level was fair to poor.

My problem started with downloading the software update that constantly pestered me on the screen. it took a long time to do this and it wiped out the entire contents of my camcorder and placed them in a back-up folder! later I was told by tech support that it wasn't really necessary to download the software update. I ended up taking the battereis out of my camcorder twice, renaming each of the 14 videos once, switching the unit on and off 8 times-three times, reloading everything at least
twice, etc.

Still the problem persists: 39 minutes of recording left, with no recordings on the camcorder. I was told by 2 different representatives that I would get an E-mail within 4 hours and also a telephone call. None of that happened.

I figured that I screwed away a lot of time with your riece of junk!
