If you are new to digital photography you will rapidly discover that batteries loose their charge often in just a hour or two of use. This kit provides 4 batteries that are rechargeable, so be sure to get them charged up the night before you plan to take pictures so you'll be sure to have enough battery power to do whatever you want the next day. I bought this package primarily because I needed a bag for my brother to handcarry my newly online purchased Nikon D40x and some other accessories in the aircraft from L.A. to the Philippines for me. The battery that came with it made the purchase seem even better since I was going to get a spare anyway. I found out, though, that the bag was too small to carry all my stuff: my D40x with an 18-200 VR lens on it, an extra 10-20mm lens, a flash, a hood and a spare battery. I'd bring it along if I were to abbreviate my gear and carry just the basics. However, I purchased a bigger bag a week after this one arrived.

Great deal w/ the battery! The bag seems to be just slightly larger than the camera. I use it to hold one additional lense and small flash for my dSLR. It will not hold more than 2 lenses.

I bought this kit mainly because of the battery.
The bag is okay for light accessories, a external flash light, a lens hood, and couple filters. There is definitely no space for a 2nd lens.

If you are looking for an extra battery and a compact camera bag. This is what you are looking for. However, don't expect the bag is big enough if you 've got multiple lens.

I saw this at Circuit City for $99... Amazon has it for $60.

You get a battery (Nikon brand), NICE bag (adjustable strap with shoulder pad, adjustable interior padded dividers with velcro, pockets upon pockets) and a book/guide for digital photography and using the D40 or D40x. It also has info on more Nikon products and SLR photography in general. The bag is very nice, protective, and looks classy and professional.

I would strongly recommend you get this for $60 on Amazon-- could potentially save you hundreds of dollars in the event you drop the camera by accident.

In all, there is little to redeem the price of this kit. I only got it for the remote, and a small bag was a nice plus.

However, the bag turned out to be the least worthy part of the kit. It quickly tore around the (unnecessary) velcro on the tab. I replaced it with a bag about the same size, which cost $11 and was a little better made.

I can't in all honesty recommend this kit.

Accessory Kit.......2006-07-05

This bag is nice and compact. It is however a little small for the E-500 2 lens kit. The only way to completely fit everything in the bag is to have the body and the lens separate. This makes it somewhat inconvenient when you want to be able to just unpack the camera and go. I generally have to leave one of the lens at home or I have to take the time (and find a clean environment) to attach the lens to the body. Overall this is a great bag for a simple outing but I would not recommend it for anyone looking for a bag to carry everything.

Somewhat disappointed.......2006-06-11

I bought this kit primarily becuase I NEEDED the remote control and they are out of stock everywhere as a standalone product. (I hate remote controls!) Then too, I thought the camera bag and the extended warrantee would be nice extras.

Well, the warantee has so many conditions and requirements, that I question that I'll ever be able to meet them all if I ever need service. It requires you submit a copy of the waranty card and the waranty certificate AND the reciept for purchase. I've had my E500 2 months and I've never GOTTEN a waranty card from Olympus.

I knew the camera bag would be small! I thought well, I could use it as a 'walk around' bag not for storage. It might even be too small for that! And it feels VERY flimsy, its a $4.00 piece of junk you can buy at any discount department store.

Can anyone tell me what a microfiber cloth is for? Can you clean a lens with it? Wash your car? What's it DO?

I now know why the $29 remote control is so scarce. They can make more money selling this piece of junk 'kit' for $80 instead of the remote control for $29.

The right tool for the job.......2005-09-29

This panoramic head is sturdy and effective. The manufacturing is solid and Bogen provides the high quality that they are known for.

PROS: The right head for spherical Multi-row images.

CONS: For the price, it should include a leveling bubble. Luckily my Bogen 3021BPRO tripod has one so it is not really missed. The head is heavy and bulky. While this may not bother some, I tend to lug my equipment around on my back while walking around. The head folds up well for its design; however knobs still stick out awkwardly for packing in a camera bag.

Even though the CONS might seem to outweigh the PROS, they don't. This head is the right tool for the job.

This Deluxe Digital Imaging kit is featured on the Olympus website as a recommended accessory to the Olympus C-5500 digital camera. Unfortunately the camera case is much too large to be suitable for the C-5500. (The other included items are fine.)

Actually this camera case is too large for just about any point-and-shoot camera on the market. I suppose the idea is they make it big to allow room for you to pack in your accessories, but if the purpose of a camera case is to protect the camera, it doesn't help much to have it rattling around with extra batteries, cables, and card-readers.

I recommend you stay away from this kit. Go to a local store and pick out a small camera case that fits your camera.

What is actually in this package..........2003-04-17

...I took a chance that this was the same product that I saw on the Olympus web site (Olympus part number 200860) and ordered it, and it is. It contains the following items:

1 - Camera bag - this padded bag features a shoulder strap and outside zippered pocket for storage of additional cards or batteries. Width 4.5" x Height 6" x Depth 3.0"
2 - 4 AA Ni-MH (1700 mah) batteries with overnight battery charger
3 - xD/SmartMedia USB Reader/Writer
4 - CAMEDIA 4.0 Pro software

For <... this is a pretty good deal, as many places will charge more than half this amount for the NiMH batteries and charger. Additionally, since my Olympus camera didn't come with a bag, this package makes even more sense.

The USB Smartmedia reader means that I don't have to turn the camera on to read the Smartmedia cards, which will be nice.

...So, if you just bought (or are buying) an Olympus digital camera, you should consider this item. The price is great and you'll need everything in it, anyways.

Don't Buy With Coolpix 8700.......2004-05-24

Don't buy this if you are buying a 8700 - the filters are the wrong size and your left with a very expensive bag. The bag seems to be a good quality. The card reader is average. I can't comment on the filters (the primary reason I purchased this) because they don't fit. So, if your dropping the cash for the 8700 (I love it by the way), save about $50 and pick up a LowePro bag instead.

rugged and roomy.......2002-03-11

A good value if you need the filters and the USB compactflash reader/Writer. The filters must used with a UR-E6 adapter (around [good price]) if you want to use them on a Coolpix 5000. The USB compactflash reader/writer works fine, but a FireWire reader/writer is even quicker(around [a good price])The small leather case for Coolpix 5000(around [a little less]) fits in the large adjustable divider compartment very comfortably. There is room remaining for 2 or 3 lenses and a mini tripod in the large adjustable divider compartment. 2 fair sized latching side pockets and thin zippered divided front pocket can be used for whatever else you may like to have with your camera. I still suggest carrying your camera and case in a ugly worn Gym bag or something less attractive to deter theft.

First, the bag is ok to put all the lenses, camera. The bag for the 28mm lenses are pretty bad.
This pack is ok for regular user. If you are a new user in coolpix, you can put this to your future shop list. Not recommend to people who has SK-E900 and additional flash.

Over-priced - but nice........2002-02-20

Good for new camera owners who can shell out a couple of extra bucks:

The bag itself is sturdy nylon, complete with a quick-release shoulder strap. Three outside pockets - the largest with several inner pockets for your accessories. The main pocket has a hook-and-loop adjustable divider and ample room for your Coolpix camera and more. The bag is nicely put together and is smaller than you'd think (a good thing in my opinion).

Four 28mm filters (worth at least fifty bucks alone) come in a handy wallet that attaches to the shoulder strap for easy access. All of the filters are threaded so that you can attach multiple filters or additional lenses. There is a circular polarizer, 2 neutral density filters (4 and 8), and a UV filter (that doubles as a lens protector for me). Quality stuff - if you actually need it.

The compact flash card reader is kind of dinky, but benefits from being connected by USB and installs easily on Windows XP and 2000. The documentation is rather thin, but it did come with an installation cd-rom, so it shouldn't be too hard to use with Win 98 either. Nice if you don't want to have to plug your camera up to get your pictures. These things retail for at least twenty dollars - and sometimes a lot more.

Is it worth the money? If you haven't bought most of this stuff already, you'll spend at least a hundred on all of these items individually (more if everything has to have "Nikon" stamped on it). The bag is very nicely put together - but unless you have some use for the filters and the compact flash reader... you probably can find a better deal on this set used or at auction.

After writing a scathing review stating that there were no details on this item (therefore my initial 1 star rating...) I have finally uncovered details.

The Coolpack II consistst of a very durable Nikon bag with the Nikon logo (hey if you got it, you may as well flaunt it). The bag is large enough to hold the camera and incidental accessories that you will probably need to go along with it. As the Nikon website states, it has plenty of pockets and places for gear. Trust me, it is far better to have everything in its own place than it is to have to rummage through a generic bag for the specific item you want.

Although the bag was the most important feature for me, the other accessories are noteworty. First, the kit comes with a USB flash card adapter to download pictures directly into your computer without having to attach the camera to the "USB to camera cable" which comes with the camera. The adapter is both good and bad. Using the supplied cable that comes with the camera is simple,works well, and is relatively quick so the adapter is really not needed. On the other hand, if you have totally depleted your battery and want to see the pictures now, the adapter is grat to have.

The kit also comes with a collection of four filters. The UV filter reduces the haziness in pictures of distant objects. It also makes a great lens protector. The polarizing filter reduces glare similar to the effect of ploarized sunglasses but without the light dimming effect. The final two filters are two grey filters to reduce the light entering the camera. A neat little case is also provided to hold the filters.

The price of the kit is a bit high in my estimation (as is everything by Nikon- sigh) but is still a nice addition to the camera. The various parts of the kit can be purchased generically for less but if you are like I am, I was a sucker for the kit despite the price.
