Great mouse for Notebooks!.......2007-12-28
I love the compact size and that you can store the usb dongle in the bottom of the mouse. The only complaint that i have is that i was told that this mouse had the 4-way scrolling option and it DOES NOT! But otherwise I like the mouse a lot. I would recommend this mouse to everyone that has laptop!

I purchased the wireless mouse for my laptop about a month ago. Set up is very easy, and it worked right away, unlike the previous mouse where I had to press the connect buttons at least 10 times for it to start working. This mouse has grooves for your fingers, but unlike my older model desktop mouse, after I've use it for about an hour my hand starts to hurt! So it has its pros and cons. I would recommend it, good size and weight. Just be careful if you have anything wrong with your hand from being on the computer 24/7.

Nice, compact wireless mouse great for my notebook computer. I use it on my computer's docking station, so I don't unplug it from the USB port ever - so consequently, the mouse is always on - which uses battery life. But if you unplug the USB each night, there is a nifty place under the mouse to store the usb plug, and that turns off the mouse. Great design!

I bought this for my husband...and he's had both Microsoft and Logitech before. Microsoft is his favorite, and it's a comfortable size and width for his wide hand (even though the mouse is fairly small.)

This mouse in theory is a good mouse, problem is the shipper/vendot ships NO software with it to indicate which version of Microsoft it will work with. Mine is very sporadic, I got frustrated after doing all the downloads needed and just gave the laptop to my wife who doesn't use a mouse.

I've had a few other optical mice and this is the worst. Every time I use it, I need to press the re-set button at least once. The cost was cheap but it wasn't worth it. Next time I'll spend a little more for a good one.

Camera locks up.......2007-12-24
I just received this camera 3 days ago, and when it is working it is great, but you do have to reboot it about every 2 - 3 hours. I wish I had read these reveiws before purchasing this expensive camera.
I will probably send the one I have back to where I purchased it, but it sounds like this is a problem with the camera's program and not that I happened to get a lemon. My first D-Link camera was the DCS 2100+ and I never had to reboot it. I thought I was upgrading to a better camera and not more problems.

Horrible product, very poor video quality. Constantly stops working. D-link has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Don't buy from this company under any circumstances or you will regret it as I have. If I could give them -5 stars I would!
Close but missing a few key features.......2007-10-14
The DCS-5300G was easy to setup, on a primary PC and the quality of the picture is fine in good lighting but it is missing one key feature to make this a truly practical wireless camera, low light or infrared capability. Many baby monitors have these features and I was hoping that this would be able to replace the 900MHz wireless baby monitor with camera but it misses the mark.
Good Webcam for the price........2006-08-24
Purchased this webcam about 9 months ago. It was difficult to setup but once I got it working it is really quite amazing. I also experienced the frequent lock ups which would require unplugging the webcam in order to reset it - a problem if you have this installed in a remote location. DLink has released a new downloadable (www.dlink.com) firmware upgrade for the webcam. Since I have installed this firmware release (ver 1.02), I have not had any lock up problems. For the price, this webcam has the best feature set out there.
Great camera......when it works........2006-04-18
Pros: Excellent image quality. Pan tilt and zoom fetures are cool. Has motion detection and email alerts, which I have not used.
Cons: Camera locks up, power cycle required. Setup software is horrible as it does not even detect the camera. Manual configuration is required. Call your mom for tech support rather than Dlink.
I had a very rough start with this camera. Once I had the camera set up I was having a major problem with the video feed stopping while viewing it remotely. Pan and tilt was still working, just no video. I would have to refresh the web browser every 15 seconds to let it reconnect. This camera works 100% of the time when I view it from its private IP address on my network, which led me to believe it was not a hardware problem but rather a config issue since the problem only occured when viewing the camera outside of my network. Called tech support, instead of getting support I was told to replace the camera. So I took matters into my own hands and basically reset defaults in the camera web interface a few times and reset defaults with the pinhole reset about 10 times in a row. I threw the Dlink quick start quide and CD out the window and reconfigured the camera by logging into the camera directly. The video lock up problem appears to be resolved, but the other day while I was playing with the camera remotely while at work, the camera hard locked. It would not even reply to pings on my home network. I had to run home at lunch and power cycle it. I even took advice from these reviews to put the camera on a timer to reboot it every so often. The camera appears to be working great now.
Basically, the bottom line is do not buy this camera if you will not have the abilty to power cycle it. If this problem occurred every blue moon thats one thing, but it seems to happen quite frequently. Check Dlink support site for firmware upgrades that address this issue before buying. I bought this camera so my parents can watch the grandkids, so since it will not be in use all that much this camera is perfect for my needs even with the defect. If I needed a 24x7 security camera (which is really what this is, not a baby monitor) this would be going back to the store. If you do buy this camera, make sure where ever you buy it has hassle free exchanges or refunds.

Rock solid camera, questionable software.......2007-12-09
Hardware: 5 stars for the price
The 5300W works great. Installed a week ago and have had no problems. Was easy to configure (even on with some custom network settings I have) and connect to network without problems. Has been working as expected (I wasn't expecting much, just a good picture with basic pan/tilt).
Cons: Wish the patrol would continue to cycle - it does not. Stops after one cycle.. and sometimes at different positions.
Software: 1 star for the price (because it installed and I was able to run it)
But my God! Who designed, and wrote this crud? Modifies video settings, takes over full screen, cannot minimize, looks like junk, non-intuitive interface, crashes system 1 out of 5 times -- yada yada. I can go on but will spare you. (I usually don't expect much from bundled software ever, but this one ranks with the worst.)
Summary: If you want a basic IP camera that is easy to install and works well, then go for it. Just ignore the bundled software and go with a third-party package (like ReCam or the like).

After spending considerable time configuring, updating firmware, and deciphering manuals, I thought I was in the clear. Although the "wireless option" was, shall we say, "disappointing", the wired configuration was providing a great view of Lake Winnipesaukee from my office window (for MSIE users, that is; Firefox/Opera browsers are not supported) until 1 year and 2 days from date of purchase. The camera sensed the warranty expiration and is now completely dead (well, pan and tilt still work, but what's the point?). D-Link support suggested I buy a new one. I will. I found a nifty Panasonic camera that looks very promising. The 5300W goes in the bin with my previously-failed D-Link Router and D-link switch.
Good features. Poor quality for price.......2005-07-07
The features are great: emailing, pan and tilt, wireless, zooming, etc.
However, the image quality is probably one of the poorest image qualities i have ever seen with a camera that cost well over $400. Luckily, this was bought with company money and not my own. If i bought it personally, i would be pissed off.
The Best Surveillance Camera on the Market.......2005-05-18
This camera has to be the best available option for office/home surveillance system on the market. I have 4 camera's at home and recommended them in the office, and now using 2. With my networking background, set up was less than 15 minutes. Loaded with features, this camera hasn't yet failed my needs. I able to watch the neighboors peak around my place and even look into windows. I highly recommend this camera. Price is high but once you get it running the product out weighs the price.
An Awesome Camera with Ro-Bitchen Features!.......2005-04-30
This thing is like a little robot eye. I can pan and tilt and digital zoom all from a web browser on my networked PC. The image quality is good, the wireless range is good, the features are quite robust, and it even looks good.
You can mount it upside down and have it flip the image it sees, thus still showing everything "right side up". The digital zoom was added with a firmware upgrade. The price is a little daunting, but if you are going to put it to good use I think you would enjoy this camera.

Wireless fails a few months after purchase.......2007-01-15
I bought this camera because I travel quite often and would like to see my infant son while on the road. At first the camera works as advertised. As others have reviewed, it is not the best camera, but it did what I needed.
After a few months, the wireless connection fails all the time. It would connect and then disconnect. Even if I move the camera next to the wireless router, this happens, so it is not a signal strength issue. After that, the camera simply fails to connect at all wirelessly. It still works when connected by cable, but I paid for a wireless camera. Now I'm on the line with technical support, which is in India, and getting the run around.
Mixed Results.......2006-09-25
The camera works well when connected via Ethernet cable but falls short when used as a Wireless camera. The problem is very evident when one applies WEP security. Performance falls to unusable with frequent disconnects. Too bad as the camera does fairly well otherwise.
Not what I expected.......2006-06-06
Let's start with the documentation. The initial setup didn't seem too difficult. There was one screen that came up during installation that didn't appear anywhere in either the quick installation guide or the full manual, but I thought it had all gone well. After another 3 hours on the phone with technical support completing the setup items that were not in the manual, I finally had an operational camera when using it from home. I've yet to successfully access the camera from an outside computer, but while it appears this is a configuration error on my part, it again highlights the inadequacy of the user manual.
The video quality is mediocre, with rather poor contrast, but since I don't have any experience with other internet camera's, I can't say whether or not there's a better one out there for a comparable price. It's pretty much the quality I would expect from a $30 or $40 webcam, so I was less than impressed. Still, the camera would be usable, except after 2-3 hours of operation, it loses connection. The only way to regain connectivity is to physically unplug the camera and plug it back in. I called tech support, and they've assured me that it's a defective camera, but I've read similar reviews, so I'm not sure. If it is indeed just defective, I would say a properly operating device would be a marginally good camera for the price. On the plus side, their customer service has been excellent. You can talk to someone 24/7, I haven't had any long wait times, and the staff has been very knowledgeable and helpful.

Dissapointed. Not very user friendly. Picture quality is only descent in perfect lighting situations. Does not like sunlight nor does it like low light.
I've had a Linksys for 2 years and is much more user friendly. Also Linksys sends via email, streaming video instead of a snapshot.
Hoping I can return it to Buy.COM.
DCS-2100G Image quality is only fair.......2006-04-07
I purchased two of these cameras.
Pros:
-- Access the camera wirelessly (within your network) and through the Internet (within or outside of your network.)
-- Moving the camera to other locations (within your wireless network) is easy. Just unplug, move, and replug into AC outlet.
-- Has nice features regarding IP assignment, email alerts, motion detection, etc.
-- A comprehensive manual (148 pages.)
Cons:
-- Fair image quality (inferior to webcams that cost $40.) DLink should have spent the $10 or less in additional build cost for a better camera.
-- Does NOT "capture video in minimal lighting." Much less sensitive than webcams that cost $40. In typical indoor room lighting, image is very very dark.
-- Fair focusing adjustment. The focusing ring is not easy to use in getting the image focused (yes, I had my laptop nearby so I could view the image while adjusting the focus.) With the center of the image focused, the outer edges are slightly out of focus.
-- Firmware (the internal camera software) is not upgradeable. One of my DCS-2100G cameras has firmware v1.0 and the other has firmware v1.03. The camera with firmware v1.03 allows you to turn off the bright blue flashing LED on the camera; the camera with firmware v1.0 does not allow you to turn off the flashing LED (there is no physical switch on the camera.) This is an important feature, since there are situations where I do not want to bring attention to the existence of the camera, or just find the flashing LED annoying. The installation software provided by DLink has a firmware upgrade option, but requires you to have a copy of the firmware. I tried contacting DLink technical support (both through telephone and email) and the last response was, "Unfortunately the D-Link support site does not have any firmware upgrade available to download." You decide what that means.
-- Setup is complex. (The manual is 148 pages.) And with a non-DLink router, it is slightly more complex. Note: this is probably an issue with any wireless camera. Setting up access, in particular from outside your network, is a complex process.
-- Camera occasionally resets itself, requiring one to "reprogram" features.
