Misleading purchase.......2007-05-07
Firstly, as soon as I opened the box, it struck me that the external drive received was not the same as the unit I ordered online. Further investigation suggests that the unit received is an update of the one I thought that I was purchasing online. Secondly, I purchased a new Dell laptop running Vista & wanted to be able to pefrform complete system back-ups, however, going through the Recovery Manager, when I used the full system back-up option, it gave an error message that the drive does not have a certain compatibility to support full systems back-ups. This is a major dissapointment also. I now use the file back-up option, but this is not want I had wanted to do.

Does just what I expected. Just plug it into the back of your computer. The top of the device has an on/off switch. The speed of file movement is exactly the same to me as if you were moving files to another internal drive. You can save files directly to the drive. Folder building is exactly the same as you would do for your C drive. The Seagate is rather professional looking and fits right on my desk on the side of the computer. I would recommend this for anyone. I have had it for approximately three months and have had no problems at all.

It has been used to back my primary computer. Having a denial of service virus is heart sickening. I bought a second one for my secondary computer and it was good buy even though it cost one dollar more.

Just buy standard Monster Cables - POD design doesn't help.......2000-10-07
I love Monster Cables, but these POD design cables are a pain. The angled design of the connectors (see the picture) actually increased the strain between them; that strain makes them difficult to install and tends cause them to work themselves loose occasionally. The interlocking design of the POD is a good idea for keeping your cabling neat; however, the cable strain makes that feature difficult to use as well. You really have to spend a long time playing with these cables to get them to stay put.
Do yourself a favor by purchasing the regular, straight Monster A/V cables.
